Mysticon Schedule
I’m going to be a little busy at Mysticon next weekend, but fear not! I’ll be manning the fan table for the Official Honor Harrington Fan Association: The Royal Manticoran Navy quite a bit, so I’ll beveryeasy to find.
5:00PM Friday — Cats On A Keyboard: Basically we’ll be talking about our pets and how they completely influence and ruin our writing time, as well as interject themselves into our books. This one should be fun, since I’m doubly cursed with two cats and a dog.
1:00PM Saturday — Bus...

Never Finished
Wrote a very long book review today for the upcomingKaiju Risingover at Shiny Book Review. It goes live at 4pm EST. So… four minutes or so.
Good book overall. It was the first anthology I’ve reviewed, and boy was it a long one. Now I know how the people felt when they tried to reviewLawyers in HellorDreamers in Hell.
Going to be in North Carolina this weekend. I owe Barb a blurb for her upcoming debut novel,An Elfy On the Loose. I also need to write up a welcome packet for new recruits for my s...

Another Story
Just sold another short story to Copper Dog Publishing. My short story, “Paragon Idol”, will be featured in the reprint of theSha’Daa: Pawnsanthology which is being re-released this year. If you remember, I already had a story inPawns(“Crouching Seal, Sleeping Dragon”) which was bumped to the reprint of theSha’Daa: Tales of the Apocalypseanthology coming out later this month.
That’s going to make my bibliography lookweird…

Book Review Query
So I didn’t watch the Super Bowl last night. Not out of some high and mighty stance or anything. I didn’t feel like getting out of the house to watch it. I don’t have a TV, and I hate live streaming anything over the internet. My poor bandwidth, man!
Plus I really don’t care about either team. Sure, I was rooting a bit for Peyton Manning, but at the end of the day I’m a Colts fan.
I’ve been getting a lot of review requests lately over at Shiny Book Review, and while some are fairly professional...

Cover Reveal
And, at long last, I can show off the cover forHero’s Best Friend, which contains my storyHill 142, the untold (and completely alternate) version of the Battle of Belleau Wood during World War One.
Edit:Oh, I probably should mention that this is coming out in the next few weeks from Seventh Star Press. Here’s their website.

Butthurt
I was thinking of writing an article today on race and science fiction, but… meh. No matter which “way” I transcribe it, someone’s going to get butthurt over it. Not “mildly disagreeing” with me, and not a “I think you’re wrong and this is why” conversation, but generally butthurt. Why? Because people are combative and tribal at a base level.
Oh, don’t give me any bullsh*t arguing otherwise. If you believe in Creationism, then you know we’re from a wrathful and jealous god. If you believe in E...

Michael Z Williamson Essay
There’s a lot of varying beliefs about what the future holds, especially when espoused in science fiction. The fact that anyone can look at the history of our planet and then postulate through science fiction that anything that failed in the past will work in the future because “the right people will be running things” really makes me scratch my head.
Mike really makes an observant point, one that I missed when I first read Heinlein’sFriday. It’s one that I more or le...
