Your Weekend Update, Hosted by Dr. Pepper, M.D.

For the record, I didn’t enter the Baen Fantasy writing contest (congratulations to the winner and everyone else who participated, by the way) because my “fantasy short story” turned into a six book epic adventure fantasy series. While it would have been cool to enter and see how well I could have done, I’m fairly certain I haven’t figured out “short fantasy” yet.

I went and saw “Guardians of the Galaxy” yesterday. Pretty good movie, though I felt that the first little “How Star-lord Got Into...

Today in History

It’s odd, but there seems to be little coverage of the fact that today is the anniversary of the start of World War 1. Just something about the way Euros think, perhaps? I mean, BBC doesn’t even mention it on their website. You would think that a war which was so terrible that it wiped out an entire generation practically would be talked more about, even in somber and reverent terms. Of the main protagonists involved in the Great War (and not counting the late involvement of the US), only 1 s...

The Correct Words

Today is lesson day, and since everyone’s use of vocabulary seems to be screwed up, I’m going to go out on a limb and say that people throw out words without actually knowing what they mean. And since I’ve been lumped in with those “fascist Mad Genius people” over at the Mad Genius Club, I figured that I’ll use my mad genius skills to educate you.

The first is one of my faves, and gets tossed around so much that you’d think people would actually look it up to see what it means.

Fascism: (n.) –a...

You Gotta Keep ‘em Separated

Rant ahead, as well as foul language. Be warned, ye who enter here.

racist

For some reason, fandom is going through some interesting “growth” right now. As I’ve talked about in recent weeks over at Mad Genius Club (and others have voiced their own opinions elsewhere), certain elements of fandom have taken over and are trying to exclude those who they do not like. In order to provide “An opportunity for fans of color to get together, meet each other, and socialize in a comfortable environment” (their...

The Weird American

I think I should have said that Eric and I will finishMurder World: Kaiju Dawnin August. For some reason, I keep thinking it’s May and I haven’t had my birthday yet. But never fear, for it’s being worked on at the moment. Well, notthismoment, but as soon as I’m done working on this blog entry, I’ll be getting back to it. Made tremendous progress yesterday, introduced a rival mercenary company for Vincente and company to contend with for the bounty, and killed a character quite messily (kineti...

Good Enough

Before you freak out and grab your pitchforks, I’m hard at work onMurder World: Kaiju Dusk.Really, I am. It’s coming along nicely, and I think everyone will be pleased to know that Captain Vincente and his crew is back for a second round. Eric and I should have this novel done by the end of July. In the meantime, you can still pick up a copy ofMurder World: Kaiju Dawnon Kindle for a mere $0.99. That’s way less than a cup of coffee, and less than a reprocessed cheese and “pink stuff” burger fr...

Murder World: Kaiju Dawn Deal

Murder World: Kaiju Dawn is currently on sale for a mere $0.99 right now on Amazon Kindle (Prime members get it for free, as always). You really, really should buy it. Then review it. Then tell all your friends about how you’d sell your second born for the sequel (first born is a bit steep).

Happy Birthday America!

I should have taken the time to write up something about how great our country is despite all our differences with one another but… eh. On the plus side, I got to use the title “Quit Dicking Around” over at theMad Genius Clubtoday, so that was cool.

Great news for all you procrastinators –Murder World: Kaiju Dawnwill be on sale for $0.99 starting tomorrow sometime (the publisher is from New Zealand, so it might not occur at the stroke of midnight). Tell your friends, sell your kids, whatever i...

Libertycon 27 AAR

So Libertycon 27 came to a close and all in all, it went tremendously well. I met new people, made new friends, ran into old friends, made a fool of myself (this is typical) and am now dealing with a very screwed up sleep schedule.

So I rolled into Libertycon about three in the afternoon after caravaning most of the way with the Docfather, Speaker to Lab Animals, Cubby’s Handler and Speaker’s kids. In case you didn’t know, most of my friends have way cooler nicknames than I. Check in went smoo...
