Published Day

The Dead of Babylonwent live yesterday and in my forgetfulness, I forgot to mention it here. Yeah, that is typical me, right?

For only $0.99 you can pick up this really cool zombie novella I wrote over the course of the summer set in ancient Babylonian times. You want swords? I got swords. You want kings and intrigue. I… kinda got kings and intrigue. But zombies? Oh yeah, I got zombies everywhere.

Don’t forget that the GoFundMe for Emily Mottesheard is still ongoing. I haven’t heard from anybod...

The GoFundMe for Emily Mottesheard

So today I was talking with my good friend Jonny and he reminded me about Emily’s GoFundMe was currently ongoing and I really hadn’t done much for it. Since I’m one of those “starving artists” type, I knew right away that I couldn’t help much financially. However, it dawned on us that I could do something even cooler (well, to some people it’s cooler, in any case).

First off, here’s a description of the absolute crap year that Emily and Charles have had in 2014:

It’s been a very rough year for...

Cover Reveal!

Isn’t it pretty? It’ssopretty!

For this cover I managed to land the freakishly talented J. F. Posthumus to do the cover of the upcoming historical zombie story, The Dead of Babylon. It will be released on December 18th, just in time to satisfy your holiday horrorific cravings (even though it’s set about 3000 years ago and sometime in fall, and has nothing to do with Christmas whatsoever, but don’t bother me with details right now…).

The Obligatory Update

Despite my best efforts (I mentioned it on Facebook, once), I did not become a finalist on the Goodreads Choice Awards 2014list for any of my stories or novels (SF, Horror or… uh… one of the others). Lamentations! Egads! And stuff. No,I’m actuallyrooting for Larry Correia to win Horror. Why Larry’sMonster Hunter Nemesisgot put in horror is beyond me. It’s urban fantasy. On the other hand, at least he’s not competing against the likes of Jim Butcher. Nope, he only needs to beat out Stephen Kin...

Survived

I survived Honorcon. I’ll have an update tomorrow, complete with an AAR and stuff. Right now I’m doing laundry and polishing up a story to send to potential new publisher.

The time change is messing me up, by the way. I keep looking at the microwave and thinking “Damn, it’s late” and then remembering that I need to change it back. So instead of changing it back, I… go do other things.

That’s right, they call me the Space-Time Procrastinator.

On Reviews For Authors

So at a very odd hour late last night, I went ahead and wrote a review over atShiny Book Review. To say that it was an adventure is an understatement. Reputedly, this author has a history of lashing out at reviewers, so we’ll see just how interesting things get around here.

I mentioned elsewhere that the ideal author response to any review is a “thank you for writing a review”. That should be it. Drop mic, exit stage left, fade to black. For some reason some authors feel the need to tell the r...

No Time

T-minus five days and counting until Honorcon.

You might be wondering what panels I’ll be doing, or what I plan on talking about, but you may be surprised to know that I’m actually working this convention for The Official Honor Harrington Fan Association. Being the Volunteer Coordinator is, well, a job that nobody wanted so I volunteered (ha!). It’s been an eye opener, and I’ll definitely remember how hard the concom works leading up to any con that I will attend in the future. It’s not like I...

October 18, 2014

This is October? Nobody told me about the pumpkin spice latte!

Right, right… we’re in October now, and dozens of people are waiting for some sort of update.

First off, I’ve been biting my tongue a lot on the internet (you would be so proud) as I watch individuals become more idiotic with each passing breath. I know it’s hard to build a following, people, but screaming at them and cursing at them to respect you is not the way to go. Getting instant attention and instant gratification because of screaming and tantrumming (it’s a word, really) is what we lik...

Too Stubborn

Air! I can breathe!

In all seriousness, it feels like I’ve been drowning in my writing the past few months. Ever since Eric and I wrapped upKaiju Apocalypse III, it seems like my head has been underwater when it comes to writing. I may have burned myself out a bit (writing 4 books in 4 months will do that to anybody) and needed a break, but I proscribe to the “Monday through Friday, 8:00 – 3:00″ writing schedule. You know, treating it like ajob? It’s a good habit to get in to, quite frankly. B...

The World Done Lost Its Mind

Everywhere I look, people are accomplishing much to lower my opinion of the world that we are leaving behind.

Firstly, Wesleyan University has recently ordered that fraternities who reside on campus permit women to join. This is absurd, because then comes the roundabout lawsuit requiring sororities to allow men to join its ranks. While this may seem like a dream come true to most college guys, the reality is that women will absolutely lose their collective minds when they are forced to permit...
