Shoot Me In The Face With A Shovel
You ever have a moment when you just wish you could use a flamethrower on something and not have the police called on you? Yeah, had one of those moments earlier today.
I was writing, as usual, and was moving along at a brisk pace (had written about 4,000 words so far, which is decent) when suddenly my computer crashed. Huh. That’s weird. So I rebooted it and everything came up fine. Bizarre, but nothing is missing, so I opened up my word doc. There’s the autosave version, safe and sound, so...

有意思 (Interesting)
Well, this past week has been, in the Chinese sense of the word, interesting.
At work on Friday I slipped and messed my knee up. Initial x-rays show nothing broken, but the doctor was concerned about a possible PCL sprain or worse. So sometime this week I have an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon. Hopefully it’s just a sprain and I have to stay off of it for a few weeks and wear a knee brace. I don’t think I can do surgery with Libertycon right around the corner.
The pain pills have been...

Hugo Packets Are Here
You know the difference between living and surviving is?
I didn’t until this month began. Wow. Just…wow.
I’ve been working so much lately that I haven’t had a chance to really focus all of my energy and attention onKraken Mare. Okay, let’s be honest here: I haven’t had a chance to focus any energy on it. Waking up at 0230 AM to be at work by 0330 and then working until 200 PMreally, really blows. It saps energy, especially if you’re a morning person who considers “early” to be 0700 AM, and fi...

Hanging In There
It’s been two weeks since my last post. Much has happened in the world, but much has stayed the same.
I’ve sold a short story (can’t announce where yet, unfortunately) which is always exciting news. Still have a novel out (sitting on the editor’s desk, last I heard) and another short that I’m waiting to hear back on. Yeah, boring standard update to be sure. Until…
I don’t talk about my girlfriend on here very often, primarily because she doesn’t want to be in the spotlight at all. I mean, ser...

Just Your Average Everyday Friday
My post over at the Mad Genius Club is now live. I went to an interesting place during my thought process and delved into sociological change throughout history. I probably could have written about 4,000 more words on the topic but I have a book due.
I finishedBest Laid Planslast night and managed to get it in to the editor with 90 minutes to spare. I normally don’t cut deadlines that close, but yeah, it was touch and go there for awhile. Heard back some positive comments ofChosen of the Red...

Made It
I managed to get my Zombie Apocalypse story in under the deadline with 90 minutes to spare. Deadlines make me focus like a mofo.
Dead now, however. 4,000 words written in 2 hours tends to fry me. I’ll update more tomorrow. Now, I’m for bed.

Another Story Off
Eric S. Brown and I wrapped up our latest work,The Chosen of the Red God, yesterday and it’s now in the editor’s hands. It’s a little short story we were working on for a few weeks (I struggled with the voice and narrative of it initially, which is what took so long) and now we’re both immensely pleased with the final result. The editor will suggest changes (undoubtedly) but overall, I’m happy with it.
Going to keep grinding away atKraken Mare today. I realized that I have little over a month...

Book Release Day!
My short story,A Promise Made, is featured in the latestSha’Daaanthology, this one titledSha’Daa Facets. I’m super excited about this one (I wrote this a few years back) and can’t wait to get my copy of it. The print copy is out now, and the ebook should be out soon.
In other news, I finally have some free time to get stuff done, so I’ve been working on my collab projects this morning. Eric has been as patient as a saint (hmm… perhaps that should have said “saint-like with his patience”. I k...

Gray
First they attacked with accusations of racism, but lo! who are the real racists?
Then they attacked with accusations of sexism, but lo! who are the real sexists?
Next they attacked with accusations of association, but lo! with whom does evil truly associate?
I got a little pissed off this week. You see, I’m supposed to be writing (I got an email from one of my publishers last night asking me how the book was going… this is always a bad sign) and not being dragged down deeper into this SP/RP/...
