The Annotated Carmilla
The Annotated Carmilla
In 1872, fully twenty five years before Bram
Stoker finished his Dracula,
another Irish writer penned a vampire tale that created many new elements in
the genre. Before Carmilla,
by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu, no story had told events from the victim's point of
view. None had ever suggested to be bitten by a vampire might feel
erotic.

Just as no story before had ever contained a
professional vampire hunter.
Most agree it created the lesbian vampire genre.
But because the book was written so long ago, it references many things the
modern reader might not understand. Where is Styria, for example?
When one speaks of a horse carriage, what are the traces? What is a
myrmidon?
The Annotated Carmilla answers those questions and more. More than four
hundred footnotes provide not only answers to obscure questions, but point out
patterns and questions not immediately obvious to the first time reader--such
as the pattern of when the full moon occurs in the story, which proves rather
important! At the same time it points out the many unsolved mysteries in
the text, as well as some possible solutions.
Also included are long essays on the life of Le Fanu (this was his final work)
and the history of Carmilla amidst the vampire in film, television
and fiction.

Princess X shows off her real-life vampire fangs in her new music video for Halloween 2012.
(PRWEB) October 18, 2012
Princess X's trip to Dracula's Castle in Transylvania, Romania inspired her to make a new vampire music video, just in time for Halloween 2012. Her real-life vampire fangs cemented the idea of a vampire love story based on her new song "Gimme All (Ring My Bell)."
The video features Princess X, a seductive vampire, who captivates a man with her spells and keeps him in a dungeon. When the victim is completely hypnotized, the singer bites his neck. Princess X shows off her bloody fangs on camera, and they turn out to be real.
Princess X's personal dentist admitted, "In my decades of dental practice I've never seen anything like this in an adult woman. Princess X has pointy cuspids that look like vampire fangs, and they are sticking out. The cuspids didn't wear out a bit since she was a kid. It makes her look like a vampire! I have started a corrective procedure that includes the use of Invisalign. This is a complicated case, but she is showing some signs of progress."
Should Princess X keep her real-life vampire fangs or fix them? Princess X invites her fans to cast their votes on Facebook.

This is not your typical vampire story where vampires are jumping in bed with humans or are entangled with werewolves for one reason or another. This is the story of a teenage vampire who is just trying to survive in her day to day existence. It is humorous and will make you laugh out loud when Amy is just being her own unique self. She has a way with words that is like no other. This book gives
us insight as to how how Amy meets her boyfriend Max and becomes best friends with his sister Ice, who were introduced in her first book. Amy is so outrageous that you can't help fall in love with her. I'm sure she would have something to say about that... No matter! The book is a delight and if you are into the strange and unusual, you must get your copy and see for yourself. You better get a copy unless you want to hear from the author. She has her own version of bending you to her will. In all seriousness, get your copy, it is a great book.

Eva's Sanctuary on Vampires
Review of Vampire by Amy Mah
Since the author of this unusual and humorous book is herself unusual and a bit off the charts, I am doing something a little different with this review. Of course, I mean that in the most loving way. You don't doubt me, do you, Mistress Amelia? I think it is necessary to give a brief account of how our Amy sees herself and her writing. This is borrowed from Amy's blog with some minor editing on my part. Clears throat!
The author, Amelia Mah, is a 20 something snarky, sarcastic and cynical author who has a very popular blog of how she sees the world from the point of view of a modern teenage vampire. Following the success of her first book, "FANGS RULE A Girls Guide to being a Vampire," she has now expanded the idea of life as a teenage vampire into a full novel. Amelia has given her avatar her own name so you can see the world first hand from a very bored teenage vampire that has been forced to remain a teenager for far too long. She may have very good teeth and the ability to hang from ceilings but life is far from easy.
Below you will find the full color illustrated version of Vampire by Amy Mah. The edition that I read was the first printing and was not illustrated. Since I love the new version, I have decided to share that with you.

Ancient Blood: A Novel of the Hegemony Brian Patrick McKinley
TITLE OF BOOK:
Ancient
Blood: A Novel of the Hegemony
AUTHOR: Brian Patrick
McKinley
SERIES NAME: The Order Saga

Avery Doyle
loves vampires; he’s read every novel, seen all the movies, and researched the
folklore. When his first one-night-stand,
Caroline, turns out to be a true vampire on the run, he jumps at the chance to
leave his ordinary life and join her as a “child of the night.” The honeymoon ends, however, when Caroline’s brutal
Creator Sebastian enslaves them on his island estate and Avery must confront
the dehumanizing reality behind his dreams.
In order to
survive, Caroline and Avery take their place as servants in Sebastian’s
household during a gathering of the most powerful vampires on Earth, the
Hegemony, and soon find themselves involved in the myriad intrigues and
deceptions that form the night-to-night existence of The Order.
A society of
wealth, power, and inhuman decadence whose existence is protected by human
complicity and disbelief, The Order is the immortal aristocracy hidden behind
the giant corporations and political leaders of the world. Sebastian, however, has
a plan that will change The Order forever and shatter human civilization.
To avoid this
terrible fate, Avery and Caroline will not only have to defy the most powerful
creatures on Earth, but also confront the darkest aspects of themselves. For in
the world of the Hegemony, even victory may cost them their souls . . .
A fast-paced
thriller that both re-imagines and pays tribute to the traditional vampire, Ancient Blood is a story of love,
ambition, sacrifice, and betrayal that is frighteningly human.
AUTHOR BLURB:
Brian is a lifelong vampire fan from New Jersey and has
written four screenplays, a stage play which won a state-wide contest and was
produced by a NJ community theater, and numerous short stories, three of which
will be appearing in Mystic Press’ upcoming anthologies Misery Loves Company and In
the Darkness … When Light Fades.

SYNOPSIS:
Avery and Caroline, two modern Vampyrs (a specific race of vampire),
are on the run from Sebastian, Caroline’s former lover and the Hegemon (ruler)
of all the Vampyrs in North America. After they stash documents that prove Sebastian’s unequalled
influence, both local police and the military assist in their capture on the NJ
Turnpike. Though Avery does his utmost to defend the woman he loves, he and
Caroline are easily captured by Ash, commander of Sebastian’s forces.
They wake in the
“wine cellar” of Sebastian’s mansion, which houses a collection of caged humans
sorted according to their blood types. Avery, a huge fan of vampire movies and
novels, is revolted by this evidence of what being a Vampyr really means. He
makes plans for their immediate escape but Caroline, familiar with the private
island on which they’re trapped, explains the impossibility of every one. Sebastian
enters—a bestial giant fresh from a hunt in his huge maze—and nearly kills
Avery out of jealousy, but Caroline tells him about the information that will
be released over the Internet if she doesn’t check in every night with her
contact. As his chef picks out humans suitable for the blood dishes of the
upcoming feast, Sebastian takes out a young girl for Caroline and Avery to feed
upon before leaving them. Ashamed of his hunger for the girl, Avery is spared
this initiation when Caroline shares her blood with him, lovingly feeding on
him in return.
Avery takes us
back to the night he first met Caroline; she came into the occult bookstore he
worked at looking for research materials on, ironically, vampires. After a few
months together, he convinced her to make him a Vampyr to benefit her research
into the condition. He takes us through what it’s like to be transformed, cell
by cell, from a human being into an immortal species that lives off blood.
Back in the
present, Caroline resumes her previous position as Sebastian’s assistant while
Avery is forced into the role of a footman. Not having been “Initiated” into
The Order, both are considered property and forbidden to communicate with any
vampire but Sebastian. During the banquet to welcome the foreign Hegemons,
however, Sebastian’s desire to humiliate Avery gets the better of him and he
revokes Avery’s “protection” so that he can be treated like any human servant. As
Caroline explains later, this is a loophole they can exploit, but it means
playing “The Game” of Order politics.
While enduring
the petty torments and threats heaped upon him, Avery uses his role as a house
servant to smuggle Caroline into meetings with the other Hegemons. Finally,
they achieve an audience with the head of the council: Iago de’ Medici. Iago is
willing to help the pair, but is limited by his shrinking influence and
Sebastian’s just-announced bid to take his position. To save themselves, they
must save Iago by thwarting Sebastian’s election. During their meeting, some of
Sebastian’s history is revealed and Avery realizes the monster they fight was
once a noble, passionate, and idealistic man not unlike himself. Sebastian’s
fate is an object lesson in the psychological toll The Game takes on good
people.
With Caroline
navigating the treacherous political waters, they begin to make headway and
throw doubt about Sebastian’s certain victory into a few of his supporters. Then
Valmont—Avery’s most enthusiastic tormentor—gets Sebastian’s permission to
perform a lewd public exhibition with Caroline while Avery is forced to watch. Later,
Avery’s humiliated rage turns against Caroline and he tries to kill her. Only
her quick thinking and Ash’s gift of a stun gun save her.
Afterward,
Avery’s memories are probed and found to have been falsified. The culprit
appears to be Iago, who snuck into Avery’s room, programmed him to kill
Caroline, and then erased all evidence of his presence. The council is shocked,
Iago most of all, and Sebastian’s “election” becomes a trial for Iago’s life. Near
sunrise, Avery is released from custody by Ash, who takes pity on him. Their
plans for Avery’s escape are interrupted by Caroline, who convinces Avery of
her love for him and insists that Iago is being framed.
To everyone’s
surprise, Avery puts together some of Sebastian’s inconsistent behavior with
things they have been told and his own empathy for Sebastian’s frustration with
the council; he explains that Sebastian may have fooled everyone into thinking
he wants Iago’s position when what he really wants is to kill the council and
end The Game. Further proof emerges when Ash confesses that Sebastian is
keeping the Admiral of the Northern Pacific submarine fleet in the security
bunker. Though Ash was told that this is only part of a political bluff,
Caroline outlines a scenario by which those few subs (and the nuclear warheads
they carry) could start a chain reaction that would result in World War Three,
millions of human deaths, and a complete shattering of The Order.
With everyone
else asleep, their only hope lies in convincing Jade Tiger—representative of an
Asian race of vampires that has no weakness to sunlight—to seize control of
Sebastian’s household during the day. Since Caroline is too old a Vampyr to
remain awake, Avery must carry out the negotiations. This proves more difficult
than expected when Jade Tiger demands to feed on his sexual passion in return
for her help; thinking quickly, Avery makes a compromise which preserves his
integrity while satisfying the Hegemon’s requirements. As he leaves, however,
he catches sight of Valmont—who should be deep in sleep—going into her suite. Unable
to resist his curiosity, Avery watches while Valmont exhausts Jade Tiger in
sexual debauchery before somehow putting her to sleep. While trying to sneak
out, Avery is caught and pleads with Valmont to let Jade Tiger wake up and help
stop Sebastian. Valmont, however, has no interest in stopping Sebastian’s plan
to ruin the world and arranges for Avery to be turned over to Sebastian’s men.
Avery wakes that
night in a cell of the security bunker along with Ash and Caroline. A
closed-circuit TV shows them Iago’s “trial” and they feel helpless to do
anything but watch Sebastian’s scheme play out. On sudden inspiration, Avery performs
a spell to assist Jade Tiger in waking. Though he’s never performed magic
before, he’s very familiar with the principles and believes that Jade Tiger’s
feeding created a bond between them. A short time later, Jade Tiger and her
people launch an assault on Sebastian and his men; though her assault fails,
leaving Sebastian with all the Hegemons in custody, Jade Tiger’s majordomo
arrives at the cell to set Avery, Ash, and Caroline free.
Splitting up, Ash heads down to where the Admiral is being kept to stop
any possible launch command while Avery and Caroline head for the house to stop
Sebastian from killing the entire council. Joined by a few other stragglers,
they lead a second assault on the council chamber and free the Hegemons. Sebastian
flees into his hunting maze during the fight; Avery pursues him to settle some
scores. Their fight is vicious and animalistic, bringing Avery to the edge of
the abyss into which Sebastian has plunged. In an act of mercy and personal
realization, Avery leaves the wounded Sebastian alive to make his final stand
against the other Vampyrs who have joined in the hunt. Valmont, however, puts
himself in Avery’s way back; a secret hybrid of species, Valmont is too
powerful for Avery to fight, but needs to feed on Avery’s killing lust. Avery’s
natural humor saves him, allowing him to mock Valmont rather than hate him and
deny him the confrontation he needs. Valmont leaves, weakened and humiliated,
vowing revenge upon Avery and everyone he cares about.
With Sebastian
dead, the exonerated Iago announces his intention to reform the corrupt
political system of The Order, starting with the appointment of Caroline as
Hegemon of North America. Avery, of course, is elated until he takes stock of
the situation and realizes how many new threats surround them and how easy it
will be for The Game to corrupt them as it did Sebastian. Still, he refuses to
leave Caroline alone among the jackals and, made confident by his personal
victories, believes they can achieve her dream of a more benevolent Order
together.

Today's world is difficult for everyone, especially teenagers. They face the stresses of school, deciding whom to date, and the biggie of sex, just to name a few. Imagine all of those things ten times worse, and you might get an idea of what it's like being a living, breathing teenage vampire. At last, the world can read about the life of a girl with good teeth, her problems with strong sunlight that gave her spots, and the sunblock that made her hair go yucky and produced more spots. Yes, sunlight was dangerous, as she could be the first teenager in history to die from terminal acne! In her everyday life, older vampires expected her to walk about at night in the traditional female uniform, a see-through, 18th-century nightdress, without undies! Well, this female vampire knew why the cold winds blowing along the corridors were called, "male winds," so she wore her see-through nightdress over jeans and a very thick jumper. To be sure that people would still know she was a vampire, the jumper had a very large, pink bat on it. And as to guys, well, it was normal for a girl to dream about guys; she just wished the dreams could have involved chocolates and holding hands, not leaping out at someone, ripping off his shirt, and demanding to know what blood type he was (at least not on the first date).

book review
Fangs Rule by: Amy Mah

Synopsis: A self help guide by Amy Mah (Vampire) for teenage vampire girls, the guide is fully illustrated by manga Artist Heby and is written in an easy to follow A - Z format explaining everything a teenage vampire girl would need to know about living life as a modern Vampire. What is fashionable to wear when eating out? Fang maintenance & how to keep your claws sharp. Should you let a boy bite you on the first date? Easy to understand clear advice is given to every day problems Example: When you get an urge to bite: We all get those normal urges to bite things, and I must point out it is very normal, Claws are all well and good in a fight but a bite gives the extra advantage of getting a refreshing drink at the same time. Lots of girls worry about showing their Fangs in public believing that to show your fangs is rude, but don't be shy they can be a girls greatest asset (ok second greatest asset) if a boy is being rude to you, don't just snarl at him, just bite him! You are a vampire why do you think you have sharp teeth if not for sinking them into a boy that is being rude to you.
Review: This is an outragiously funny piece of work. I laughed all the way through this! Amy Mah has a wonderful sense of humor and she did a wonderful job with this guide to being a vampire! There are lots of things in this guide that I have never heard of before. I only thought I knew vampires! This guide is VERY well written and easy to follow. Amy Mah is a very talented lady :)

Novel Review
Newsflash- Author Amy Mah has a new Novel !

Author Amy Mah who we had interviewed in our March 1st, 2011 issue, has now published a follow-up issue to her hit Fangs Rule: A Girl’s Guide to being a Vampire. Amy has a huge following in the UK, and is gaining an interest by the younger generation here in the States. Her new book is titled Amy Mah, Vampire, and can be found at Amazon.
Our publisher has read this new work by Amy and found it quite interesting. We feel that the younger set, with their keen interest in all things Vampire, will enjoy this book as well. “It does have a hint at sexual play, but is much more tame than it sets out on”, he has been heard to say. Parents of young children may need to be more discerning but older teenagers and young adults would love the humor within its pages.

Horror for Halloween always comes with boobies

Having nice firm little boobies and getting murdered by a machine
I am getting worse when i look into a plot like am I the only person that examines the plot like in the RING when by accident someone watches a dvd that says at the end
.............................................
no not at the beginning so you could stop but at the end
If you watch this you will die
OK what is the point of putting a death warning after you see it? it would be like YouTube billing you for watching a video clip but only tell you they now want payment after you have watched by mistake some 1970s B list band that someone recorded without sound !!!!..........

You must remember the film called the RING people pass this tape around to each other saying look at this and die..............
Everyone watching this film will die in one week by having a wet girl climb out of your TV ........
.......er yes ok ....rearly? ...sigh like I I watch that by mistake would I be the only one to then put it on YouTube with a heading
FREE NAKED GIRL PORN for the fun of having some evil little brat of a soggy wet girl start trying to crawl out of millions of collage guys laptops being watched late at night by mega horny Guys which are more likely to whip her panties off and play hide the sausage than sit back and get killed...
heheheheheheeh also think of her trying to get more than a few fingers out of a smart phone ........ kill viewers?!!!! the best she could do is poke them in the eye!
.......like please some logic in a plot would be nice
*******************************************
Final destination series ..................
I am coming to now believe that horror films are designed for the high school audience as I am finding them too young for me ………………
No not the horror side with body parts that’s just as yucky as ever but the plots or rather the lack of them and how they can take the same weak plot over 6 movies and a food franchise.
Yes on the TV last night was Final Destination 3 ………………….
I expect everyone knows the plot from movie 1 and 2 and that is someone has a premonition that something bad is going to happen and by refusing to get on a plane or a dangerous ride that was going to kill her she saves the lives of a dozen or some friends and this upsets FATE big time and the world now starts to kill everyone in the order they should have died …………. Er like that is going to put things right some of the people take up to six months to get killed by an accident like being eaten by a elephant in Alaska …………….
And like to blow up two trains and kill about 300 people to finish off the last 4 survivors is a little OTT and very spiteful ……………
As to people dieing I still think the two 17 year old girls could not be burnt to death in 3 min on a tanning bed………….
What does it tan with lasers? The manufactures would do better making weapons for the military.
Yes I know it was the only way to get two teenage girls to strip off in front of the camera …
How to cheat Fate? well one of the films said you could do it by getting pregnant ..........er sorry guys Fate is kinda sexist you would have a few basic problems playing this stay alive card and does it work only while you are pregnant? they do not say but after having 15 kids in 15 years I kinda expect you would not care to continue to cheat fate..............
The other way is to kill someone to take there life span .............muuuuum ....... so its killing a few people or having to life off food stamps with your dozen screaming kids ..welllllllll ok how much to buy a gun?
FATE thinks it can stop the butterfly effect by going on a murder spree killing hundreds ………..yes like that would be a cleaver idea I don’t think…………..
What to do in this situation ………….well FATE does not want the world to be effected having people alive that should have died ………and will kill everyone in the order they should have died………….. and no way to stop it
So there you are the last one on the list and you know you are going to get killed in a messy way so the world is not changed ………well then go out in a way to piss FATE off …..easy
Buy life insurance and make bets on a fast odd death on everyone of your group of 12 then when the first one dies you then use the money to up the bets on the others …………..
By the 3rd person dieing you will be able to hire a company to place the bets for you by the time the 6th person dies the news media and the police will be looking into it and they will all be perfect accidents with you hundreds of miles away waiting to be struck by a meteorite ……………
FATE has to kill in order it has to its fate so the money is pilling in …………..think about it the money does not just double like the famous pennies on a stair case no it goes supper mega like by person number 10 every gambling place in the world is taking bets in fact you will own most of them as well as all the stock markets as you are now a international player ………………… now ok so you will still dies by being struck by a meteorite while deep sea swimming ……but what a way to go with a finger up to FATE …..so it needs to kill us so nothing changes …..yes right I was the richest person in the world at number 6 by the time its my turn to go I will own the whole planet !!!!
So you kill me and my friends so the world does not change …er …yea right ……………. .hehehehehehe
I think I will have Switzerland as my tomb stone and have the whole country gold plated perhaps a little memorial garden like the whole of Florida …heck while we are at it lets reshape the outline of Australia to look like me from space.
Look come and read my books the plots are a lot better ………and plenty of boobies....er they are mostly covered by clothing but they are there

Book Tour Review | Fangs Rule: A Girl's Guide to Being a Vampire by Amy Mah (Vampire)

Title: Fangs Rule
Author: Amy Mah (Vampire)
Series: N/A
Publication: 03.28.2011 by Reardon Publishing
Source: Bewitching Book Tours
Challenges: 2012 YA Reading Challenge

Summary: The guide is fully illustrated by manga Artist Heby and is written in an easy to follow A - Z format explaining everything a teenage vampire girl would need to know about living life as a modern Vampire.
* What is fashionable to wear when eating out?
* Fang maintenance & how to keep your claws sharp.
* Should you let a boy bite you on the first date?
Easy to understand clear advice is given to every day problems.
Example: When you get an urge to bite:
"We all get those normal urges to bite things, and I must point out it is very normal. Claws are all well and good in a fight but a bite gives the extra advantage of getting a refreshing drink at the same time."
Thoughts: I jumped at the chance to review Fangs Rule because it sounded like something that would be fun and enjoyable, but also because I liked the cover. I was right because not only was it fun, but it was a humorous, cynical, journal-like guide on what it is like to be teenage vampire girls these days. And let me tell you, all those movies don't have it right. It is obvious from the start that we humans really know nothing.
Lady Amelia Mistress of the Night Mare and Alpha Female from the Family of the Pink Bat, or Amy Mah for short, has been a teenage vampire for quite a few hundred years now. She was raised by humans until adopted by the Pink Bat family, and then had a lot of things to learn. To help all the teenage vampire girls on how to handle being a vampire, she decided to create this enjoyable guide that pretty much explains what you need to know.
Fangs Rule was a quick read for me, but it is a fun book to get into. There is no real story, but we get to learn a little bit of Amy here and there with her explanations and suggestions. She is definitely a witty and sarcastic girl that you can't help but bond with. There are also great illustrations throughout the pages that are very colorful and eye-catching.
There are some grammatical and spelling errors in the book that bothered me a bit, but they didn't really interrupt the flow of the book. There is also plenty of sexual references that are not too explicit, lots of sarcasm, and many definitions that will have you laughing out loud.
Fangs Rule is an great and beautifully illustrated book that I am sure vampire fanatics (like myself) can enjoy and learn from! I definitely recommend this to 13 + readers and anyone looking for a quick, manga style book that teaches a thing or two about vampires. I look forward to learning more about Amy Mah in future books.
About the author:
Amy is a new and very funny author who blogs about her life as a modern vampire trying to put up with both humans and fellow vampires. The author Amy has been transformed into a manga character by the art of Heby Sim, real photos were changed into the wonderful images you will see in her books.
