PSA, Possibly
Guys. Guys. GUYS. There’s a cool dude running for Congress in Arizona. He knows how health care saves lives. He knows receiving a helping hand doesn’t mean you’ll never bother to work again. He learned these things when an illness struck him blind, so he gets the needs of the disabled better than most politicians.
And get what he did when a “pro-life”† organization tried to get him to commit to their silliness.
Also he’s got a great campaign slogan that tells me he has a sense of humor.
Help Ame...

I Mutter at Reviews
Hi, I’m KD, and I’m an author who mutters at reviews.
You’ve heard of the authors who made bad choices when faced with a complaint in a review. So have I. And I know better. Nope, if you ever catch me in an internet meltdown, you can assume that the assistance of mental health professionals is needed and has probably already been summoned.
Sometimes, though, I’ve just got to say something. So I mutter at my screen. It pretends to listen.
“You weren’t paying attention. They didn’t integrate quick...

KD’s To-Do List Part Deux
〈 Clear my desk, holy crap. Done but it’s already messed up again.
〈 Deal with all the stuff I’ve been tossing in the corner to deal with later. Some of it…?
〈 Put together new entertainment center in the living room. Hah. Haven’t even opened the box.
〈 Move was-entertainment-center, now-baker’s-rack, into the kitchen.
〈 Find a good place for my bonsai where the cat on a diet won’t be able to get to them. (No, seriously. Last time we put him on a diet, he ate most of a broom. And then threw it up...

Another’s Daughter is Missing
Yesterday a child didn’t go home after school.
Her parents are, of course, very worried. If you know her or her whereabouts, please contact her mother through the link above. If you don’t know anything, please go ahead and follow that link and share the post.
Back in January my daughter put me through the worst week of my life. On her return, I learned that she’d left her phone in her room on silent. I thought it fair to tell her to listen to all the weeping voicemails I’d left her when I thoug...

KD’s To-Do List
My classes start Monday. I’ve got a book to edit, and a serial to smoothout. I need a plan (soon) for the kid’s birthday. And I’ve been doing NOTHING because of work and new computer happy.
Hold me accountable, internet.

Gung-Ho? Ho, Me?
I am a girl of many enthusiasms. If this is your first time on my blog, you may not be aware of that. I suppose it’s possible even regular readers have missed my tangents on aquariums, rock-climbing, Civil War reenactors, my frequent forays into science, history, mythology…yeah.
KD has ADHD of the best sort.
So anyway. The aquarium plan is not abandoned. We went and acquired some furniture which we now have to absorb into how the house works, then we’ll be looking at how to make an aquarium fit...

Is That the Way You Like It, Mr. Beeblebrox?*
When my desktop started crashing last week, I did what any smart person would–I went directly to Dell to purchase another. I surfed through the Outlet until I found what I wanted–small, powerful, NOT Windows 8–and I snapped it up. A happy ending, yay!
The next day the desktop crashed for good, so I started using the little netbook to get by. The tiny, deliberately low-powered (so all I could do on it was write), running-XP netbook.
Didn’t take long for the poor thing to BSOD on me. As soon as I...

What’s the Sitch?
I never got into Kim Possible, but of all the things my kid watched in her younger years, it’s probably the thing I most liked having her watch. Breaking the stereotype that all cheerleaders are emptyheaded and useless? Yes. Showing a girl who could be pretty, girly, and strong? Yes, please. Positive portrayals of lots of girls? Oh yeah.
But I’m not actually going to talk about Kim Possible, at least not today. I just like “sitch.”
So here’s the sitch. Last Saturday morning my desktop wouldn’t...

REMEMBER
If you remember nothing else I’ve ever said or ever will say, please remember this:
Depression lies.
Depression will tell you no one cares. It will tell you everyone would bebetter off without you. It will tell you it’s never going to end, it will never get better.
Depression lies.
Depressionis a big fat lying liar who lies, and if you remember nothing else when you are going through that dark tunnel, please remember that depression lies and you are loved, even if you can’t feel it. It’s there. Y...

I Lost My Computer–I Am On a Roll!
Tamahome the Third is Dead.
I can’t believe I got to numbering my computers. Though it does make sense, bearing in mind the crotchety miner in Grizzly Adams (remember that show? No? I’m sorry) who stopped naming his mules because they died so fast, and started numbering them instead. I have fond memories of Number Seven!
Truthfully, I started numbering because I never got around to choosing new names (also the rest of my gadgets are named for others of Miaka’s guardians–the portable hard drive...
