Sunday Bloggin’

You know when you have too much stuff to do, so you can’t get yourself to get started on any of it?

That’s me. I’m right there. Does it matter that most of it is stuff I really want to do?

Nope.

Does it matter that the consequences of not doing the stuff range from meh to seriously this could get dire do this wtf?

Nope.

So I’m taking it in itty bitty chunks, interspersed with watching Ghost Adventures while I bounce on my new trampoline, getting my step-count.

Love love LOVE the new trampolin...

oh em gee, I needed that

So I didn’t even mention here, but I went away for a week. The kid, the roomie, and I all ran off to marvelous and beautiful Sedona. We got home today.

I’m way tired because I drove nearly four hours, after getting up early and packing, and then unpacking and I’ve got laundry and the dishwasher going and it’s hot in here (the resort had AIR CONDITIONING so we are unused to constant heat. _ )

Um, anyway…I got me some pretties. Took lots of pictures. We all managed to get sunburned despite know...

Keep Your Pity

There’s something I’ve been running into a lot over the last few months, and it’s starting to bug me.

Don’t look at my salad and say “I’m sorry.” Or “ew.” You can maybe say “that looks healthy” but even that is iffy.

I’m making salads I like. “I’m sorry” is for stuff I don’t want to do, for bad stuff. “I’m sorry you have to get that tooth pulled.” Or “I’m sorry you need to get a leg amputated.” Not “I’m sorry you are learning to eat delicious things that are also healthier choices so you can...

To Rivendell and Beyond!

No, I’m not there yet. ButRivendell is not the whole story. I’m not even there yet, but I get to say that. Because 1) I’m more than halfway, holy shit, (380 miles of 458, I’m 83% there!) and 2) I read the book. I mean, 2) because this journey is never-ending. And I’m okay with that.

I want to show you a picture.

August 2014. I had to go that far back. I don't like pictures of me.

That’s me, last August. I wanted a picture from around February, but I couldn’t find one. Seems though I’ve been trying to not do it, I still hide from cameras.

This is me today.

May 30, 2015. One goal down, more to go!

So...

Go 1st of May Yourself

You know what, May? We’ve never been best buds. I know it. Where I grew up, May was the month BEFORE school was out. So there was all this glory and joy as the world came alive after April rains, and I had to trudge off to school. I resented you for that.

Then Mom died (not your fault, that was October) but you kept coming around with your stupid holiday, and her birthday, that often fell ON your stupid holiday. I disliked you a little more heartily. You could be such an awesome month! But it...

The Road Goes Ever On and On…

“The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursuing it with eager feet
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say.” J.R.R. Tolkien†

Always loved that poem. It’s especially apt now, as I’m getting out of the house in somewhat random directions every day.

I don’t want to do once-a-week posts, but that’s how it’s falling out. I swear I’ll try to do better.

So...

Seen on the Road to Rivendell

I’d mentioned my Fitbit. I’m still carrying it with me everywhere, getting about five miles a day. On Wednesday I went for it, and got eight! Mostly because the kid was staying at my sis-in-law’s, and the dog needed walking. (okay, he is in no way used to walking five miles a day, which is the total of our walks that day. He just gave me a good excuse to drop all that other stuff I need to get done.)

Anyway.

This morning the dog slept in. I took my camera instead.

I am so so lucky to live nex...

Whoops, Sorry About That

Every time I notice that I’ve gone a week or so without blogging, I’m surprised. And then I’m not.

For years I was a much more regular frequent blogger, but right now I’m 1) pretty busy and 2) talking about me in lots of other places. This one, for instance. Thanks so much to the awesome Ellen Gregory for having me! Now to get the other interviews done… _

Busy. Yes, busy. I’m working on my Love is an Open Road story, and let me tell you, it does.

Me and My Fitbit

Yesterday I walked a total of six miles. The dog, the kid and I went for a two-mile walk.

Since February 3rd, I’ve lost 18 pounds.

I feel like this time, THIS TIME, I got this.

At the end ofJanuary, I think I was cleaning my desk when I came across a pedometer in the clutter. It was a cheap little freebie they gave me at my last job, to encourage the people they worked into the ground to “get up and move once in a while!” As if there was any time for that!

Anyway, I started carrying it. I was...

Erin Zarro’s Grave Touched

So y’all remember how we do things at Turtleduck Press, right? Works go through a process, because we want to be sure everything we release is the best we can make it.

As part of that process, I was the first reader for Erin Zarro‘s Grave Touched. It follows Fey Touched, but it’s supposed to be able to stand alone. Since I haven’t read Fey Touched, I was the lucky guinea pig who got to see if it worked.

Oh yeah. It worked. Grave Touched is not a book I’d normally pick up, but I really enjoyed...
