Judge Me By My Size, Do You?

Hmm?

20160206_164016

Don’t mind my squint–it was pretty bright up there.

That’s my lake in the upper left hand corner–the one I usually walk around. Today I decided to do a little mountain climbing instead. I’m gonna hurt a bittomorrow–but WOW, did it feel amazing today!

Coming back down just in time–sunset happens fast, and I didn’t need to be stumbling down an unfamiliar mountain in the dark.

View of the mountain I just climbed, from my lake as I walked home. I THINK the mountain I was actually on is the t...

Hawks are Cool

So are other birds, of course.

I took this picture at work last week. These two hang out on their light pole perch many mornings, in the park next door to my school. They have a nest two poles over from this one–I figure maybe they hang out on this one because their hatchlings are loud and annoying?

Red-tailed Hawk pair

So I was pretty stoked about that. Then the other day I was walking in the park next door and discovered MY park has a pair of hawks too!

Here they are hanging out on an antenna or something.

More Hawks

I...

No Rants

I have had this blog for years. I can’t believe I can’t come up with anything to say.

Really, though, I think it’s the brain-space I’m in more than anything. I just don’t want to talk about stuff right now. I’ve got a highly stressful Situation going on, and not wanting to talk about it kind of keeps me from talking about anything else, apparently.

So I’m watching fish. And wasting time on Tumblr. Except now (yay!) I’ve got a book to read for TDP.

But I’ll be back. Don’t worry (in case you we...

Drowning My Muses

I can’t believe we’re at the end of 2015. On Tuesday we’ll be in December. Combine that with how I put things on my blog so I can remember them, and then needing to remember them lately. Like how to light the pilot light, or measurements of the Christmas tree stand. The two together haveme in a reflective mood.

On that note: KD, the turkey neck is in the butt, but the giblets are in the neck-hole! Because it’s funny to have a turkey with its head up its ass, but if they put the giblets in the...

So Very Helpful…

I’m not impressed by “helpful” computers. That doesn’t mean I want to chisel my books into stone slabs–it just means I want my computer to ~help~ me accomplish things, not slow me down and fuck me up.

Case in point–I spent hours (during NaNo!) Friday night, last night, and this morning fighting the magically appearing auto-formatting in my ebook versions of Burning Bright. On Amazon things were shifted just a little. No big deal, it was completely readable–just made me look like an utter newb...

Switching Stories

So I do this sometimes in NaNo. I switch stories because I didn’t plan enough on the first one, or I’m not feeling it, or I’m just Way. Too. Stuck. It’s always a hard decision to make–am I really stuck, or am I giving in right before the muses were going to give me something really good?

I’d first intended to write about Lukas and Alan. Then I thought, why jumpuniverses when I already had Keeper’verse in my brain from all my Burning Bright editing? So I changed my planned project to the third...

I Don’t Want a Dog But Who Asked Me?

Back in February, I sent my kid off to volunteer for the Humane Society. She loved doing it, and I loved getting her out of the house and doing something remotely healthy. But it backfired on me, because she came home with a dog. (Okay, maybe I actually signed the papers, but you don’t understand. I had to. They were in love.)

It’s November now. I’m sure you’ll be astonished to learn that I’m the one that walks the dog. I mostly don’t mind, though. I like that I can walk late at night and at...

Burning Bright!

So if you get announcements from TDP’s Facebook page, or the site itself, or maybe follow me on Twitter–well, thenyou might already know that I actually finally managed to getBurning Brightreleased. It gaveme a heck of a struggle, let me tell you, and my kid absolutely didn’t help what with Halloween and drama and non-communication.

Anyway! Burning Bright! It’s up, it’s out there. I love it and I hope that you will too.

And I swear I’ll try to blog more often. _
