Sunday Morning Walk Around Fargo
I woke up early on a Sunday morning because it was the first time I ever found myself in Fargo, North Dakota and I really wanted to take my camera for a walk.
I debated which one to use and opted for my Samsung NX30with a 16mm f/2.4 lens
.
The streets were quiet and I barely saw another soul as I randomly wandered around and saw what I saw.
Disclosure:As an official Samsung Imagelogger, I’m given new cameras in exchange for using them and sharing the photos I take with them.

Dove Men + Care Respect Dads
As long as I can remember, dads have been shown as the bumbling fools of the parenting equation.
Long time readers know that I’ve fought against this for years and hate brands that continue to use this stereotype in their ads.
Thankfully Dove Men + Care is not one of those brands.
Ever since I first got introduced to the brand and their team at the Dad 2.0 Summit, I’ve watched as they continue to constantly shine a light on the men who are fathers.
Their latest campaign ‘Calls For Dad‘ warmed my...

Reflecting on MisfitCon
As the waitress sits me down at my booth at The Frying Pan, I giggle a bit at the table top advertising their “premium coffee.” The nearby table hasexceeded the Hawaiian shirt quota for the city as I hear one of them begin a story with, “that Montana boy that married the Eskimo girl…”
The past two days have been some of the most inspirational and needed days that I’ve spent surrounded by top quality humans.
The city of Fargo, North Dakota may not be awake yet, but I’ve been wandering the street...

Headed to Misfit Con 2014
Tomorrow morning I’m headed to Fargo, North Dakota to attend Misfit Con 2014.
I’m excited that I’ll be able to check another state off my list and to see a town that I only know as snowy, full of a great accent and of course wood chippers.
The excitement is even greater to be surrounded by so many likeminded individuals who share similar values and goals in life as I do.
This trip is coming at a very important time for me. I need it to clean out some of the darker corners of my mind. I need to b...

Doing Nothing is Ok
Memorial Day Weekend in America.
A long weekend full of backyard barbecues, parades and remembering those that paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms.
Lots of people spend it at the beach or with big gatherings of people.
We opted for a quiet weekend around the house and that is ok.
Today, it feels like you have to be busy all the time and show off your busy to the world via your social media profiles. If you were to look at any feed you pay attention to, I’d bet money that there are people...

Content Marketing and the Art of Storytelling
My latest course for Lynda.com is now live.
Titled C.C. Chapman: Content Marketing and the Art of Storytelling it is an eleven minute interview with me about how all well done content marketing is storytelling.
I share stories of the work we did at The Advance Guard for clients such as Shark Week and True Blood. I also share how my trip to Ghana changed my personal goals for storytelling.
I didn’t see any edits of this until it was live, so it was fun to see how they put in things from around my...

Something Amazing Is About to Happen?
A friend reaches out saying they need to catch up.
They are looking for guidance and inspiration. You fear that you might not have any to give with the current situation of life, but because you are always there for a friend, you set a date and jump in the car.
Ninety minutes to Portsmouth, New Hampshire is just enough time to get lost in your thoughts.
A chorizo burger with fried egg and an oatmeal stout.
A walk around town talking about a variety of crazy ideas and little moments.
Cameras captur...

Lunch Break in the Woods
Kid Rock encourages me to slow my rollas the car cruises through the curves of Rt. 135.
There might be a chill in the air, but the windows are down and Roxie is enjoying the wind on her face from the back seat.
When you find yourself without work, a new camera and a beautiful day the call of the wild becomes strong and can’t be ignored. The decision was made not to fight it and go for a long walk around Ashland State Park to enjoy the fine day that Mother Nature had provided us.
Instead of the u...

Simpler Satisfies Me
This weekend my dear friends Thomas and Laurie got married.
It was a beautiful celebration of their love and the smiles on their faces give me every hope that they will be a couple that will have a long life full of smiles and happiness.
The photo above is of their guest book. Instead of a pearly white, Hallmark bought, puffy book, they chose an approach I had not seen before. A good old fashion typewriter.
My wife and I giggled as we looked around the room and wondered if a majority of the crow...
