Sailboat Lunch in the Ocean

CC-Chapman-LunchInTheOceanCaptain Tibi cut the engine and we slowly coasted directly for the island in front of us.

Laura joked that it looked like another boat had crashed into the limestone on the beach and she hoped we wouldn’t share their fate.

Like a graceful dancer, the seventy seven foot boat softly slid into the sand without so much as a nudge upon settling.

We were in Turks and Caicos to speak at the first annual Turks and Caicos Social Business Summit and the organizer wanted to thank us with a day out on a sai...

Move & Make Up – Two Inspiring Videos to Make Your Day Better

Sharing beautiful things I find online is something I love to do.

Follow me on any social network and you are bound to discover a variety of content that crosses my path and that creates a response in me that makes me want to share it with other.

This week two videos jumped out at me so much that I wanted to share them again here on the site.

The first came via my daughter.

Emily and I are close and understand each other because we are extremely similar. She is a fellow misfit who is going to cha...

2014 Toyota Highlander Review

2014 Toyota Highlander CC Chapman

We are a family of four that loves to go places with our dog.

We are also a family that are not fans of big SUVs.

This means that our options for what automobile we own is severely limited. Currently, we own a 2010 Ford Flex and we love everything about it except for how often it breaks and has to be repaired.

When I wasasked if I wanted a 2014 Toyota Highlander to test drive for a week, I said yes.

They gave it to me for free and all they asked wasif I posted anything about it that I use their #...

Nothing to Complain About

Dylan Loves Huskies

Most mornings, I wake up to my beautiful wife telling me she is leaving for work.

I sit up, stretch and give her a hug and hold her close.

That is not a bad way to start any morning and I get to do it more often than not.

There has been a lot of reflection happening here for me over the past few weeks.

Ever since I left YSN, I’ve been a bit lost. The fact that the talent, team and time was squandered has weighed heavier on me than I ever expected possible. Perhaps it as simple as I hadn’t had a d...

The Leftovers

The Leftovers

I’ll always consume more than I create.

It is why I read, watch and listen almost all of the time.

This morning I watched the second episode of The Leftovers, the newest series on HBO.

It is a tough show. There is no other way to put it.

I’m starting to realize that watching it first thing on Monday mornings, as I’ve done the last two weeks is not the best idea.

This show is dark, challenging and emotionally hard for me to watch. You don’t know what is going on yet and each of the characters is de...

Catch Up As We Head Into The Holiday Weekend

PeaceandBalance

I love that when I woke up this morning and looked at my calendar, the only thing I saw was “GET THE PIG.”

There will be another whole hog roast going on tomorrow here at the house. There will be a few friends, great food and hopefully the weather will cooperate enough to not make it a complete washout.

Anyone else boggled by how July arrived? Realizing that the year is half over gave me pause the other day as I flipped the calendar over.

There has been a lot of little things happening here so I...

When Kids Get Their First Smartphones

barnselfie

Everyone knows that technology is a big part of my life.

One look in my bag, around my office or anywhere in this house and you’ll find technology of every kind.

Because of this, many people were surprised when I bring up that our kids have just received their first smart phones.

Since a lot of people ask they whys and whens of children and phones, I thought I’d share a little bit of how we approached it in the Chapman household.

There is not a set age when it is appropriate to get your kids a ce...

A Week With GORUCK

GR1 in the waves

This week has been an interesting one as I’ve been surrounded by beach and sun in Jacksonville, Florida.

I was hired by GORUCK (affiliate link) to do some storytelling work for them and finally got to meet more of the team that I’ve been a fan of for a number of years.

Sitting down on camera with several of the team and hanging out with them off hours was straight up awesome.

Talking about new products, where the company is headed and life all mixed and mingled into each conversation.

Morning Reflections From GORUCK

The whirl of ceiling fans mixed with the crashing of waves and the pit-pat of Monster’s wagging tail are the soundtrack of mymorning.

The sun in rising over the ocean and the coffee has just finished brewing.

Sitting here in the GORUCK team house, I can’t help but smile.

I’m in town doing some work with them to capture and share the story of who they are as a company and where they are going.

After years of owning their gear and being a fan of all that they do, it is a bit surreal to be sitting h...

Summer Full of Visits

quietcoffee

This morning I got together with my buddy Mike for a cup of coffee. He brought along his eleven week old son Emerson.

Last night, I swung by Clarence’s house to check in on him and because I was in the area.

I wonder why these little visits don’t happen as often as they use to?

Do you remember people dropping by when you were growing up? There wasn’t a phone call to see if you were home. They stopped by and might stay for only five minutes or be there late into the night.

This summer, I think I’m...
