Samsung S5 – Hype or Habit Forming?

You should know that I’ve been a happy enough iPhone user for many years. All of my work is on Apple products.

But, last year when I was given a Moto X to review I realized that Android was the mobile OS for me. It gave me more power, flexibility and customization than iOS ever would. Plus, I live in the clouds most days and Google is one of my masters since I use their apps for pretty much everything.

There was a single thing holding me from switching to an Android phone and that was one with...

More To Life Than Grumpies and Selfies

first-nxmini-selfie

Samsung ImageLoggers like myself each receive new cameras as they roll them out. Yes, we keep them. I’ve covered this before, but I’m all for covering my ass over and over so that no one gets confused, lost or upset.

Two days ago, that meant the new Samsung NX Mini arrived on my doorstep and of course the first thing I did was take a selfie.

I’ll always be a fan of self portraits, but hate the word selfie. Sorry, but it is nails on the chalkboard for me when that word is said out loud.

Why am I...

This Week WILL Be a Good One

Spring Blooms in Boston

Every morning as each kid leaves for school I tell them, “Make it a great day. I love you.”

It is my little way of nudging them to remember that while there will be forces out of their control pushing and pulling on them all day, that in the end they control their mental fortitude and can decide if it is a good day or not.

These past few weeks have not been good for me. Without a clear vision to work towards, I find myself fumbling rather than focusing. This has caused many dark hours filled wi...

Witches, Baseball and Beer With Team Lumia

cc-loves-beer

Nokia is a company that understands how to work with influencers.

Their approach seems to be to gather a variety of online influencers in a great city, bring them on a series of mini adventures and give them Lumia phones to document everything.

Last year, I spent a weekend with them in Vegas and earlier this week I was invited again in my home town of Boston and we had a great time.

You need to know that Nokia covered the costs for everything while we were with them. They had given me a Lumia 10...

A Morning Walk to Clear My Head

bostonharborcolors

A cool wind blows in off the harbor with the smell of salt and the sounds of planes taking off from Logan.

We have a late start today on our Boston Team Lumia Experience and while I can only sleep in for so long, I wanted to get out and walk around the city a bit this morning to clear my head.

Yesterday, we spent the day with New England Brewery Tours sampling beer and having a good time. Last night found us at the Aziz Ansari show. He was ok, but the theater was sweltering and his entire act w...

The Importance of Quiet Time With Friends

emptycup

Scott Monty unfortunately coined the term “Tweetup.”

I’m sure if he hadn’t done it, someone else would have. Yet, I give him a hard time about it since that started a deluge of sticking TW in front of everything and anything.

It was one of the many topics that came up over breakfast on Saturday morning between myself, Scott and Steve Garfield.

Scott had a quick trip to town and reached out about grabbing breakfast before he had to fly home.

We gathered at Brasserie Jo and over great food we caugh...

Priorities

observing

I’ve always been an observer.

Watching the world go by and how people act in it. Seeing how they react to one thing, while ignoring another. Pondering people’s actions as they choose to help some and chastise others.

Lately my observations have shown me that as a society our priorities are fucked.

If I turned on any news network in America right now I would know the latest celebrity gossip, hear more “breaking news” about how we haven’t found a missing plane or see death and destruction in whate...

How To Help Friends In Need

A3-Austin

This past weekend I took time away from my family to help a friend.

Brad Powell has had a dream to launch Awake Aware America for quite some time now and he kicked it off in Texas and asked me to be part of it.

It was a direct hit of doing work that matters with someone I care deeply about, so it was an easy decision to say yes.

But, in todays world where the little details of everyone’s life is shared with the world it is harder than ever to help out all of our friends. We see people having bad...

Awake Aware America

aaa_logo

This weekend I’ll find myself in Austin, Texas teaching and inspiring local youth on how to find, craft and tell stories that matter to them.

As the Storyteller in Residence for Awake Aware America, I’m excited to kick off the first of their conscious content camps with a focus on water sustainability.

The schedule for the weekend is jam packed and of course I’m excited to be hands-on with the students all weekend long.

You can follow on Twitter@AwareUp or by checking out the #AwareUphashtag.

My First Boston Marathon

BostonStrongMarathon

Going to college and now living in the Boston area, you’d assume that I’ve been to my share of Boston Marathons.

I live two and a half miles from the starting line and have seen the finish line numerous times before the actual running. Yet, I had never watched in person.

After the tragic events of last year, I was determined to be at the starting line this year and cheer on the runners. Thankfully I kept that promise to myself and the city I love.

As President of the Board for Wediko, I was able...
