Time and What We Choose To Do With It

chapmans-and-J

A week isn’t a long time. A day is a little more than a blink in our lives.

Time and whatpeople choose to do with it has always fascinated me.

This morning our exchange student from China left. The whole family woke up at 4am so that we could properly say goodbye to him.

J was only here for a week, but last night as we gathered for our final night together I felt a sense of missing him already. His reaction when I handed him a Chinese translationof Content Rules is one that I will always cherish...

More Phones Need To Be Like the Motorola DROID Turbo

Droid Turbo Phone

Right up front, you need to know that I was given a Motorola DROID Turbo phone for free as part of the VZWBuzz Influencer Program. We get access to a variety of devices and it is always fun when I like one enough to write about it.

I made the switch to Android from iOS last year.

Being able to customize my phone, use widgets and direct integration with all things Google makes my life easier.

I’ve only had the phone for a week, so I can’t do a full review, but what motivated me to write this post...

Does Your Brand Want To Be At SXSW 2015?

SXSW is one of those events, that you have to experience to fully understand and appreciate.

I’ve attended for a number of years and every time I leave with new friends, ideas and a peek at the upcoming trends in the world of technology.

This year, I’m attending, but I’m also excited to be working on a brand activation and we are looking for sponsors.

For years I’ve watched the evolution of marketing campaigns at SXSW and too many brands spend large amounts of money without understanding SXSW.

I...

Not 50 Shades of Managing the Gray

Long time listeners know that when I hit record on my microphone you never know what might come out of my mouth. In the first ten seconds of this episode I once again laughed at myself as words came out of my mouth and in my mind I was already thinking, “Did you really just say that?”

Listen to Episode 143 of Managing the Gray and you’ll hear what I’m talking about.

The World Needs More Tolerance

longwalk-cc-chapman

You only need to take a quick skim of the news, trending topics or conversations happening on line to see a lack of tolerance.

The world would be a much better place if more people practiced it.

We don’t need to accept or endorse that which we don’t agree with. Each of us is empowered to believe what we want and choose what we do with our days.

If you respect those around you and treat people appropriately, you are ok in my book.

Take care of the world. Take care of the people you care about. Don...

Winter in New England

snowy-selfie

Any minute now, the snow will begin to fall and it should stop sometime on Tuesday.

Depending on which channel you put your television on, the forecast calls for anywhere from a whole lot to are you kidding me.

Yes, we got more snow in a recent ten day period than an average winter in this area. Yes, the snow banks are so high you risk your life pulling out of the end of every street. Yes, I don’t know where we are going to put this next batch of snow.

But, while there is an equal pile of compla...

You May Call Me Professor Chapman

backatbentley

Almost twenty years ago I graduated from Bentley University. It was my first choice school and one that I was told I’d never get into by my guidance counselor, so graduation was a very proud moment for me and my family.

Last week, I returned to Bentley. This time though, I was on the other side of the classroom teaching my first class an Adjunct Professor in Marketing.

I wrote about this on the HubSpot blog already, but wanted to share a more personal post about it as well here.

I’ve taught clas...

The Television Shows Our Family is Currently Watching

While the high-speed Internet is the main reason I have always loved Verizon FiOS, I also love having it for all the great television programs we get to watch.

As a member of the #LifeonFiOS Influencer Team, we were all upgraded to the latest hardware and user accounts for free. In return, I agree to share my honest thoughts on how me and my family use technology.

Television continues to push forward with cool and original programming. Yes, there are still plenty of stupid sitcoms and reality t...

Action 2015

Action2015-CC-Chapman-USA

Fifteen years ago, the world entered a new millennium.

My kids were born on either side of that magical year and when I think about how much their lives will change in the next fifteen years it gives me pause.

Action 2015 is a movement to focus the world on continuing to improve the lives and world around us.

This year two important meetings will be happening with global leaders to review The Millennium Development Goals and replace them with a new set of global goals – the Sustainable Developme...

The Valley

Thank you for the feedback on last weeks bit of fiction.

I guess I wasn’t clear that I’m going to be sharing a lot of different pieces of fiction and not a serial story as many hoped for. I’m not to that point yet.

Over the years I’ve written snippets of stories and ideas. I’ll be sharing these in various forms, so you never know what you might get.

Today is a bit of a coming of age story. At least the beginnings of one.
