One Good Thing

Crazy bible thought: I woke up with this thought in my head and it cracked me up. I'm not advocating violence, but what if I went to church one Sunday morning dressed in nothing but a sheepskin and carrying a bag of small rocks or even hard candy. Then I'd pelt people with them as they walked by wearing their cotton/polyester blends. I would be so much religiousier than them! I mean, it says right there in Leviticus that one shouldn't wear mixed fabrics. Funny, absurd thoughts are good things...

Hot Shot: A Dandy in King Arvin's Court

As promised, my favorite work I've discovered in a while. This by Flondo. I'm thinking it would make some brave soul a fantastic Halloween costume. Daring and original. Love the wiener cleavage...or wienage, if you will.

One Good Thing

Spent some time this afternoon with my friends Maxie and Miranda and their little one, Jack. It was so nice to see them again! They're moving back to Madison after being gone for three years and it's going to be wonderful to have them around once more. We sat and talked and weathered a possible tornado together. We're even closer than we were before. It's amazing what a near catastrophe can do, isn't it? But we faced it. Death staring at us in the face as we cursed it, "Back to hell, you demo...

Film Relations

Strange little facts about characters and the films they inhabit:

"Mary Reilly" (1995) is Robert Louis Stevenson's "Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde" ('32, '41, pick a year) told from the maid's POV

"Hook"(91) is a variation on JM Barrie's "Peter Pan" (57)

"Wide Sargasso Sea"(93) is concerning the mad woman from Charlotte Bronte's "Jane Eyre" (44)

"Clueless" (95) is a modern take on Jane Austen's "Emma" (96)

"The Lion King" (94) is based on Willie Shakespeare's "Hamlet" (throw a rock)

"A Mid Summer Night's Sex ...

One Good Thing

Summer foods. Nice strawberries. Fresh melons. Cold pasta with that vinaigrette and chopped tomatoes. Refreshing bumps of love in my hot, hot day. Not very interesting, I'm afraid, but some days are more complicated than others and today I just didn't feel very complicated. Today I just wrote and snacked.

Been There, Done That, Won't Ever Do It Again

- Squat over 300 lbs. I did it in college, but I have NO desire to do that anymore, even if I could. There are other ways to get a nice booty that don't involve a possible brain hemorrhage.

- Buy a Dell computer. It's the worst computer decision I've ever made. I'm gonna "Office Space" its ass when I get my Mac. But I don't listen to gangsta rap so I hope it will be just as effective with Eurythmics.

- Go to homecoming. What a weird experience. Haven't been in a few years and, until they name s...

One Good Thing

I'd like to thank the shuffler on my computer. I have thousands of songs on there, but the shuffler seems to recognize I am DYING of heat exhaustion (mixed, of course, with my own natural heat and sexiness) and is not playing songs that resemble summer in anyway. Instead, it has been choosing, in strangely recurrent style, songs from Mary Chapin Carpenter's Christmas album 'Come Darkness, Come Light.' Piano music has a cooler sound to it anyway, and when you add lyrics about snow it just make...
