One Good Thing

Just got a visit from Mr. Postman. usually my mail is small enough to fit into my rather large maroon mailbox, but not today. He had to truck it back the lane. At first, I had no idea what I had gotten. I couldn't remember ordering anything that would warrant a trip back to the house for the postman. But there it was: a big, heavy box from Amazon.com. And then I remembered: LOST!! My complete series arrived today, and the packaging is the size of a small suitcase. So excited! I shall watch th...

Mumford & Sons, "The Cave"

These fellas are quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. Listen to their use of intruments.

One Good Thing

My mom and me were watching the hummingbird today. I've gotten to the point where I can hear its wings as it swoops in low in search for food. No one else seems to hear it, but I can easily call it when he's near. I'm like the hummingbird whisperer or something.

We've hung a bright red feeder on a small tree by the porch and the little bugger just loves it! He's been eating at it all day. Good for him that hummingbirds need to use so many calories to flap their wings, or else we'd have an obes...

One Good Thing

Went and had the ol' mop thinned out today. I was getting a bit shaggier than I like it up top, and since I'm headed to Florida shortly, where the humidity is as oppressive as a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, I thought it a good idea to lessen the weight. I don't know how much longer I'll wear it thusly. I'm thinking at least until the new year. I like it longer, and it is kept under control as long as I remember to wear a hat once in a while. My hair has a lot of body. Besides, it's no...

10 Song About Brain Surgery

Five years ago today I had brain surgery. Here are a few songs to commemorate that event:

"If I Only Had a Brain" by Bob Schneider (Ha!)

"Take My Breath Away" by Berlin (because, see, my medulla was being strangled and I couldn't breathe. Clever, huh? heehee)

"Think" by Aretha Franklin

"Lifelines" by Aha

"You Must Be Out of Your Mind" by The Magical Fields

"I Don't Want To Die in the Hospital" by Conor Oberst

"If I Ever Feel Better" by Phoenix

"Can't Get You Out of My head" by Kylie Minogue (Because ...

One Good Thing

I finished my manuscript today and sent it to the publisher. Yay! Another Enchanted April should be released by Dreamspinner Press, from what I'm told, sometime this winter. It's a romantic comedy with a magical bent set at a B&B somewhere on the east coast. Inspiration was drawn from Elizabeth Von Arnim's book Enchanted April, as well as Shakespeare's A Mid Summer Night's Dream. I had a very good time writing it, which isn't always the case, believe it or not. I've also paid homage to a coup...

10 Movies In My Collection I'll Probably Never Watch Again

"Battlestar Galactica: Razor" - My sister gave me this after she bought the complete series and this was also in that collection. It's a decent piece of sci/fi, and I love Michelle Forbes ( I remember her from one of the "Star Trek" series), but there's no real reason to see it again.

"Dance With Wolves" - Loved it when it was released. But this is one of those films I really need to be in the mood to see, and I'm never there.

"Defying Gravity" - Collegiate gay romance I bought while in college...
