Secnd Chance pre-orders are up!

Wow, that was so fast!

Amazon.com, Amazon.com.au and Smashwords already have the pre order links up for those who want pre ordering of Second Chance (Grant's story).

Nook and other links are still coming for pre orders. I'll let you know as soon as I do! Ummm...also, I've got the links on my website for those wanting it *sheepish look*, I don't know how to do the shortcut hyperlinks here, only the complete website addies, which seems a bit excessive!

Grant's story - release date!

Whoo hoo! *cough*hack*wheeze*

Grant's story is in the editing stages now! I can't believe I actually finished the book when I've been sitting here coughing up a lung and on two different types of antibiotics, but seeing as I can't sleep because every time I lie down I cough the household awake and the cats desert me in disgust, it seemed like a good idea to just sit and write.

So yes, Grant's story is done! And if you wish to see, his cover and blurb are up on my website now www.angelaverdenius.com.

Release date is set for 1st Dec 2015 - just in time for Christmas!

As soon as I have the pre-order links, I'll let you all know!

And for those who aren't interested in buying the book, can I just say the cover is definitely worth a peek anyway? ;-)

cheers! *cough*hack*wheeze*

sci fi romance box set & how it all started

So yes, I should have been working on Grant's story the last 2 days *slapping own hand*, but I thought I'd try my hand at making a box set of some of my earlier sci-fi romances.

So I did it - after much gnashing of teeth and banging my head on the desk. I thought it'd be easy...WRONG!

Anyway, before I delved into the wonderfully voluptuous world of BBW romances, I used to write sci-fi romances, not a very popular genre it would seem. Though Sherrilyn Kenyon apparently writes a sci-fi romance series titled the 'League' series. I'll have to give it a go, looks good!

Anyway, in my own rambling way, I'm here to say that the first 4 books in the Heart & Soul series is available at Amazon, All Romance eBooks and Smashwords as a box set.

When I first started my sci-fi romance adventure some years ago (let's not get into how long ago, okay?), I had a very ego-stinging experience of having one publisher tell me to keep my fantasies to myself - apparently having three husbands wasn't something she wanted to see way back then. Yes, I admit I had my heroine - kidnapped from Earth, no less - have 3 warrior husbands - but it was tame compared to nowadays!

Wow, kind of my first erotic romance with tame sex scenes and no eroticism...go figure.

My response to this? I got all fired up, wrote Heart of an Outlaw (the sex scenes are few and tame, but action wise? Got it! LOL...or so I think). My sci-fi romance writing roll went from there.

It's interesting to look back and see the stories progress, gradually getting a little hotter, a little darker, a little funnier, all depending on the story-line. My first heroine was kind of young...got a blasting for that...but I swear they've gotten a little older with each book! And hey, historical romances sometimes had really young heroines...*sniffle*

It's been a frustrating, fun and sometimes heartbreaking ride, but I lived to tell the tale! (no pun intended).

I have to say, if nothing else, the cover is pretty *hot*! Had to sacrifice some time looking for that perfect male specimen

I've always been curious about box sets, and now I've got all that out of my system, tomorrow it's back to Gully's Fall and Grant. I left him and the heroine shocked and hor- er... mustn't give too much away!

Doing My Head In

Oh boy. Grant is another hero doing my head in. Like Simon, he's supposed to be easy-going. He's not a complex man, he's supposed to be an easy write.

Ha ha - it is to laugh! When has any of my heroes been easy to write lately?

For example, I'm writing away, when suddenly in the story Grant's hand slips and he touches - suffice it to say that I tried to tell him he couldn't do that, it was a sleazy move, and he countered by saying it was an honest mistake. And it was. But still...

On the plus side, I am halfway through 2 weeks annual leave from my day job, and writing almost all day every day, which has been great. I'm halfway through chapter 3 already!

Got Evie (cat) asleep behind me on the filing cabinet, Lily (cat) curled up on a chair by my side, Leo (dog) asleep on a mat beside me, Diet Coke on the desk, music going...this is the life!

As long as I don't choke it out of Grant first...

Naughty Kitties!

So you're probably wondering just who do I base all these different cats on that pop up in my books?

Look no further than my own furry mob! To give you a sample, here is a piece about one of my cats having an on-going fight with my Mum (I copied this off my other blog), and another wanting to lord it over visiting cats.

So, for your enjoyment, I present:

"Fight 1 - Mum & Polly"

***************

So Mum and Polly are fighting. I tell you, it’s not pretty (but it IS funny). So you’re wondering what on earth my mother, who is placid and easy-going, is doing fighting with Polly, who pretty much minds her own business as long as no one GETS in her business.

Basically, Polly has decided that the current Best Spot Ever is right on top of Mum’s jewellery box on the dressing table. This results in knocking off the alarm clock and whatever else happens to be on the dressing table at the time as she heaves her fat bum onto the dressing table, plops it down on the jewellery box and dares anyone stupid enough to try, to get her off.

Along comes Mum and all Hell breaks loose.

Mum: “What the - why are you on there?”
Polly: “Because.”
Mum: “I’ve told you a million times you’re not to go on there!”
Polly: “What’s your point?”
Mum: “Get off!”
Polly: “Don’t you touch me!”
Mum: *grunts as she tries to lift Polly off*
Polly: Hiss*spit*yell*
Mum: ^%#! She’s knocked the alarm clock off now!”
Angela: “Maybe that’s because you knocked it off while trying to get her off?”
Mum: “Shut up!”

Note to everyone - this is what happens when you’re dumb enough to try and offer comments that are, apparently, extremely unhelpful in this situation.

It continues -

Polly: “Let me go! HELP!”
Angela: “Why don’t you just leave her-?”
Mum: “She’s not staying there!”
Polly: “Yes I freakin’ am!”
Mum: “No you’re not. Get off!”
Angela: “She’ll only get back up there.”
Mum: “No she won’t.”
Polly: “Yes I freakin’ will! It’s the Best Spot Ever!”
Mum: *finally manages to dislodge Polly and plops her onto the chair beside the dressing table* “Now you can sit there.”
Polly’s eyes are huge, black and not friendly. “You really think so, huh?”
Angela: “You really think she’ll stay there?”
Mum: “She will.” Points at Polly. “You don’t go up on my dressing table knocking stuff off. Now stay.”
Angela: “She’s not a dog. No way is she going to-”
Mum: “She will if she knows what’s good for her.”
No sooner does Mum walk away than I peek through the doorway and yep, Polly has her a**e on the jewellery box again.

***********************

Fight 2 - Evie and the Visitors

So we’ve had a busy time lately with visiting kitties coming to stay with us. There’s sweet little old Renee (who is 20yrs old), Skitty and Jeffrey (come as a pair) and Freya (a wide-eyed pure tortoiseshell). They’ve all been coming and going, sometimes overlapping.

Now we all know Evie has to be Boss Cocky. Struts her stuff and all that. She literally walks the walk and talks the talk. So any cats visiting get her full attention.

Now, if cats come for a long period (say several weeks), we usually start to integrate them into the household after about3 days, so they can run with ours, but if they’re only here for a few days or less than a week, I don’t worry about going through the whole introductions. Besides, Evie always makes that a little hairy (no pun intend).

So Renee, unfortunately, cannot mix with ours, because old or not, she’ll try to rip their faces off. Probably fall a***e over t*t while she does it because she’s so frail, but nevertheless I don’t want her having a heart attack while trying to knock another cat’s whiskers off on our watch.

Skitty and Jeffrey were only here for about five days, so no point tempting fate (especially Evie) by trying the introduction thing.

But Freya was here for several weeks, so it was a case of introduction time.

Now, when cats are shut in the front room with just the screen door between them and the others, Evie struts past them, plays in front of the door, presses her nose to it and stares in at them (especially when they’re using the litter tray, because unnerving them when they’re trying to do their business is such fun), and basically parades past showing them that SHE is Boss Cocky, SHE has the run of the place, it’s HER house and everything in it belongs to HER. She really enjoys this.

So let’s come back to Freya. Freya is a happy, bright-eyed tortoiseshell, only about a couple of years old from memory (and my memory is in serious question, but I’m pretty confident I’m right on this), and she is ultra affectionate.

So along comes the day when we let Freya out. The rest of the cats look at her and go “yeah, whatever” and go back to sleep. Polly just warns her not to get near the jewellery box or dressing table - “My place, you, my Best Spot Ever!” - and then comes Evie.

Evie, Evie, Evie. Her ears perk up, her whiskers bristled, her whole little body starts to quiver with excitement because there’s fresh meat to torment! She follows Freya as Freya prances around. Covertly, Evie slides from one piece of furniture to another, peers around the edges, pokes her head over the tops, sidles around the corners, the whole time keeping her prey in sight.

Freya, totally oblivious, dances around checking out everything, her eyes big and bright. (She really is a happy little cat).

Evie finally decides to reveal herself. TAH-DAH!!! “Cringe before me, you lowly peasant!”

Freya: “OMG! Someone to play with!” And proceeds to prance towards Evie.

This freaks out Evie. WTHell…? This thing isn’t afraid of her? Something wrong here, people. Evie snaps upright, her ears go back, her eyes go wide.

Freya happily trots forward. “Hi! How are you? Wow! Play with me! Wooooow!”

Evie, totally freaked out because this thing doesn’t recognize Her Majesty, backs up and disappears.

She spends the rest of the time that Freya is here either:

a) Hiding and peeking out at her
b) Sulking on Granny’s bed
c) Strutting in front of the screen door at night when Freya is put back in there to sleep.

Yep, night time is when Evie struts her stuff. “Going to bed with MY Granny,” she informs Freya, strutting past the door while Freya watches wide-eyed. “Going to MY bed with MY Granny,” Evie adds, strutting back the other way. “Only I sleep on MY Granny’s bed, ‘cause I’m Boss Cocky and everything!” this she delivers as she slides herself along the door. Then she proceeds to look up at Granny, all sweet and coy, casts Freya another triumphant glance as she watches, and trots after Granny, hopping into bed on HER little blankie in HER special spot on HER Granny’s bed, lays her little head in Granny’s hand and goes to sleep.

STILL BOSS COCKY!!!

*********************

If you'd like to see photos of Polly on the jewellery box and Evie totally bewildered that Freya has no clue she's Boss Cocky, visit my blog where the photos of these two are:

You're the One excerpt & other bits

Yes! Finally got the excerpt up on the website - just had to make sure first that I had the editing right *wink*.

This is the link for anyone interested:
http://www.angelaverdenius.com/YTOexc...

Okay, so since this is now all done, I have had a few days of intense DVD watching. I've watched the entire first season of Z Nation, the entire first season of Warehouse 13, and the entire season 4 of Falling Skies. To top it all off, I also watched a couple of rental DVDs. In-between, I've read my little head off. YES! Has been a great week. Except for...

wait for it...

being off work with a nasty head cold.

Yes! Can you believe it? Finally finished all the book editing and then came down with a head cold. Didn't stop me reading though - no way. I just wiped my eyes, had the little bin and a box of tissues beside me, and kept on going.

Now this is the thing. My mother always tells me to go to sleep, to rest. I can't lie there and look at the back of my eyelids unless I am REALLY REALLY sick. Otherwise I basically get bored out of my brain. I have to read or watch TV, I can't lie there. So that's what I did, curled up with my books and sniffled and coughed and read. So it wasn't all bad!

Feeling heaps better, still on cold tablets but forging on to work tomorrow. Gotta get up and go go go! (though I hate the 6am rising time...I rise, I don't shine, let me give you the tip)

I work all day tomorrow, then Tuesday have an early shift, so Tuesday afternoon I will be plotting the next book. My play time is over!!! Never mind, have some ideas that I will map out then it's the start of the next book.

Currently, at this time, book 6 will be the last in the Gully's Fall series. I have been asked if Jason will appear in the Gully's Fall series, but no, I don't plan for that to happen. Jason, I feel, has moved on and started a new life, so his story will take place elsewhere. Do I have ideas for his story? A couple which I have jotted down and filed away for when the time has come for his book.

But meanwhile, there is a hunky vet to write about - oops, did I let that slip out????

Del's Story - I have a release date!

Whoo hoo! Just finished writing Del & Moz's story and am now in the editing process.

Good news- I have a release date for anyone interested. "You're the One" will be available in ebook and print on the 1st September 2015. Available now at Smashwords for pre-order and hopefully in the next day or so at Amazon.

Hope to update my website tomorrow with the cover and blurb. I'll post an excerpt on there once I've finished the editing.

Once all the editing is done, then I have a fun time on my days off sorting out my tax. *Yay...not*. And then I can take two weeks break (though, you know, I still have to do the day job!) to catch up on reading and watching TV. Have a zombie movie, a new zombie series, and 2 sci-fi series - all burning a hole in my cupboard and calling to me! They have been gathering there over the months while I've been writing and I've been promising myself a good movie fest on my days off as a reward for resisting them all this time. And oh yeah! A friend said she had "I, Zombie" for me to borrow, but I may have to wait for my holidays to watch that!

So just wanted to let you all know that Del and Moz are happily being frisky right now *wink*. Got a couple of new kitties in the book for you to meet as well (but I reckon you kind of guessed that already!)and the gang is back!

Zombies Rule!

I am a zombie fan. Unashamedly, I will stand my ground and admit it to ANYONE. Heck, even my boss knows I'm a zombie fan! Zombies rule! Zombies are the BIGGEST & BADDEST of the monsters!

Seriously, what is scarier than some dead person who only wants to eat you? They just keep plodding on, bits falling off, not smelling that great, with only one thought on their mind. EAT! (kind of like me when I see a bag of chips...but let's not go there).

So why am I doing this blog on zombies? Because season one of Z Nation arrived, it's sitting in the lounge burning a hole in the cupboard beside the TV, calling to me...calling to me...calling to me... (did I mention it was calling to me?). It wants me to watch it NOW. SO BADLY.

But I'm not and you know why? Because I'm trying to be good and spend my afternoon off writing Del's story, when all I really want to do is watch ZOMBIES!!!

God, I am so good. Or sad. Probably sad. Definitely sad. I want zombies! *sob*

So now...

So now I'm starting Del's story. There's only one huge problem.

Yes, one HUGE PROBLEM.

Gully's Fall was only meant to be a four book series. Just four books featuring the men's stories - Scott, Kirk, Ryder & Simon. But then there was Del. Del, the only one of the group who was basically left hanging out in the breeze, flapping away - no man, no hero, no nothing, watching her friends all get their HEAs.

Okay, so the four book series turned into a five book series. Or did it? Should it? Should Del's book just be a spin-off - but wait, she's one of the main side characters, right? And it'll be set in Gully's Fall, so how could it be a spin-off? How dumb would that be?

Okay, so here it is. Gully's Fall is now officially a five book series. gah!
