Hi all
I realise it has been awhile since a new book release, and since a blog post. So I thought I should let you all know what's currently happening.
Well, life got in the way - some burn out and a new job (again!).
Still working as a Practice Nurse in a GP clinic, but it's closer to home, so I can save on petrol and walk to work when it's nice. Always a bonus!
Writing-wise I'm taking a break. Some burn-out, loss of inspiration, and life getting in the way, so I took a back step and am just concentrating on doing things I have pushed aside for so long.
Writing was everything to me, but there are changing times and attitudes, expectations, costs, marketing - so many things in the publishing world that can drain a writer. No excuse, just some of the many reasons I took a step back and a break.
Definitely it's a very different world to when I first started writing, back when ebook writers 'weren't real writers' and we were looked down on. Then along came self publishing - also looked down upon - and we were big fish in a wee pond, writing how we pleased and what we wanted and the market was ours! Now we're guppies frantically swimming in an ocean of fish! LOL Now look at the ebook and self-publishing explosion!! Whoo hoo! I do miss those days when everything was new and exciting *nostolgic sigh*.
Other reasons are personal. Burnout sucks. Loss of inspiration and even loss of love of writing sucks. But life is more than writing. Life is to live and try things, pick things up that have been pushed aside. Working full time doesn't leave much time for other things. Realising that life is passing is an eye-opener. Taking a break from writing is ok.
So I'm fine, just taking a break. For how long I don't know. But I hope this little update finds you all well, and mates, there are so many great books out there to read and enjoy! And remember, take time to do things you want to do, no matter how big or small!

New release - Inspirational
Man, it has been AGES since I last posted.
I have no excuses, it just is :-) Life...life all around me!
So this new release is a photo book featuring photos I've taken from all around me. Photos from life. I do a lot of thinking when I'm walking, and those combined with the beauty and miracles of everything around me has provided me with many entertaining and thoughtful moments.

Update
Hey all
sorry I seem to have been AWOL lately. Work during the week full time, chores and shopping on a Saturday, and study on Sunday. It's taking all my time right now!
Can I just say I'm looking forward to finishing studying???? Then I can plan what's next!
Meanwhile, stay safe, smile and keep reading whatever takes your fancy! because books get us through almsot anything ;-)
For those readers caught up in the conflict in certain parts of Europe right now, my heart and thoughts and prayers are with you.

Happy New Year and What's Up
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
I pray that this year will be full of blessings and cheer. I know it's also probably going to be a tough year, because let's face it, the last 2 years have been and this year...welll... Anyway, you're all still in my thoughts and heart, and I wish you happiness! All we can do is look forward and keep slogging on *wink*. Thank goodness for books, cats, animals, and Diet Coke, that's all I can say LOL.

So what now? Indeed, what now for me and the writing? Well, I have a couple of plans. Okay, one, actually, let's be honest.
Firstly, yes, I have jumped to another job again and am now a Practice Nurse at a busy doctors' surgery, which also has another Practice as well, so I need to be available to go between the two Practices. Lots of doctors and other nurses. Lots of learning (soooo different to hospital nursing!), lots of learning of new computer programs, also. And now study - yep, have to study child immunisation, so that's coming up this month sometime. So now I work Mon to Fri, usually 8:30 to 5. No shiftwork. This is great for life, not so great for writing, so I need to do most of it on the weekends. Along with study once that rocks in.
However, until then...there's something different in the writing I want to try, so I'm going to start playing with that. Not sure how that will work out, I guess we'll all find out in the next couple of months!
So anyway, meanwhile, stay safe, be happy, and know you're always in my thoughts. Roll on New Year, let's see what's coming! (apart from, you know...masking and stuff LOL)

Traitor is Released!
Whoooo!
Traitor, book 9 of the Heart's Desire Soul Destroyed sci-fi romance series, has been re-edited and released.
There wasn't much to change, mainly fixing some grammar and spelling issues, thank goodness! The cover is awesome (thank you Melody Simmons). So even if you're not into sci-fi romance, at least pop across to my website and check out the cover! Awesome!!! (Did I mention awesome?)

But I can make no promises, as a few other story ideas have been drifting around in my head! You’ll know as soon as I do LOL.

Changes & Writing Update
People who know me know that I don't like change. Loathe it. I like things to cruise along nicely with everything I know being 'normal' and just cruising (did I mention 'cruising?)along just nicely. I don't like the boat being rocked. At all.
So I don't know why I rocked the boat myself. OK, I do know why. I did it because I have back issues which were becoming quite sore. So I decided to help my back issues, I'd slide sideways at work and enter the field of administration as a Patient Administration Assistant.
Sounds easy, right? WRONG! Now I always knew the admin people worked hard. I just had no idea the diversity of their jobs, or what each job involved. Such as that every job had smaller individual jobs, and I need to know them all. ARGH!I
I'm an old dog trying to learn new tricks! After 20years of nursing, I could walk into palliative care, medical and surgical wards blindfolded and know exactly what I had to do and how. But this? Learning this admin stuff is like being a student ALL OVER AGAIN! My brain hurts. Really hurts. I have so many notes I take that I feel like I need a freakin' huge backpack to carry it all!
So my plan is to do this 3 month probation and if all goes well, they'll keep me in admin and I can do my one or two nursing shifts every fortnight to keep my hand in. I just have to pass this probation period! Everyone there is so nice and they tell me not to stress, but man- I'm stressed!!!! Still, onwards I forge, plodding along down that tunnel to eventual enlightenment of the job! GAH!!!!

So all this brings me to the writing update - due to learning the new job, I haven’t done a lot of writing. I'm halfway through the re-edits of the next sci-fi romance. I so want to get it all done asap so I can return to Steve and the gang in Hope Bay.
NOW - I'm not saying it will happen this year, but Steve has been giving me knuckle-wraps on the back of the head, looking over my shoulder, demanding his story be told. So once this current sci-fi romance is done, I may - just may! - have to do his story next. But I'm not making any promises right now. Steve will just have to sit and sulk until I figure this all out!

Had the COVID test which was negative, so just a nasty cold that had me a week off work and then a week into my holidays and now entering my 2nd week of holidays with it. So instead of all those things I planned (cleaning out the shed, taking Mum and a friend out to lunch, having a look around the shops in town - which I never do because I'm always in a hurry and just go where I have to go - and a few other things, I've been nursing this cold at home while it's been raining outside. Good movie and reading weather, though!

Witch - new release!
Whoo hooooo! Finally finished re-editing 'Witch', bk 8 in the Heart's Desire Soul Destroyed sci-fi romance series.

Previously published as 'Soul of a Witch', it has a new cover (super cool) and has been re-edited. I have to admit there weren't any changes in the storyline, just a 'tightening' of some sentences and a bit of a juggle with some words, but that was it.
I'd forgotten how cool it was to write this story way-back-when, my first foray into 'witchy' writing LOL. That touch of paranormal wet my appetite to do more later. Mind you, by the time I get this series done, who knows? So saying, only 10 books left to go! If I push it, I might get 2 or 3 more out this year...but let's see what life throws at me, as we all know what life does!

Cats Causing Havoc
Two of my 17 yr old cats are causing havoc!
Fleur decided to get a hyperthyroid and, while we're trying to get her meds & levels sorted out, she decided to toss in an upper respiratory tract infection as well.
Because, why not?
At the same time, Abby decided to go blind in one eye and get high blood pressure (I kid you not). So while we're trying to get her meds and levels sorted, she decided to get a sore eye again in her blind eye and have a bleed behind it.
Again, because, why not?
They're sleeping happily on the bed now.
See, furry kids? This is why mummy has to work.

I have a few favourites amongst this rejuvenated (or should I say rejuvenating, since I'm not finished yet and there's still 11 books to go?!) series, and this is one of them. Sonja is such a unique and strong character, she gives these Daamens a run for their money. Face it, have you ever known a Daamen trader to be bested by a woman? I have a few favourites amongst this rejuvenated (or should I say rejuvenating, since I'm not finished yet and there's still 11 books to go?!) series, and this is one of them. Sonja is such a unique and strong character, she gives these Daamens a run for their money. Face it, have you ever known a Daamen trader to be bested by a woman?
