WIP Progress Report

Just wanted to bob in and say the new book is going well. Almost ready to start chapter 4. Unfortunately, tomorrow is a 'no-go' for writing as I have a three hour course in the morning on IV Cannulation followed by a late shift, then straight into an early shift the next morning.

BUT I wanted to say that so far it is all going well!!!

So saying, I have set a private deadline for the release, but won't share that just yet because:
1. I want to make sure I can meet it before I let you all know
and
2. I'm just mean that way. ;-)

But meanwhile, I'll keep burning up the keyboard every chance I get!

Surgery and Stumbling Blocks

Ye gods, minor surgery AGAIN! Yep, going into hospital tomorrow for an overnight stay (because it's fun, right?). Hence I'll be off-line for a couple of days. I can't think of any other way I'd rather spend my days off (insert sarcasm here...in BIG letters).

Apart from that, my other stumbling block with this new book is that - IT'S NOT FREAKING WORKING! I've been having serious issues with it (as my friends can attest to, seeing as I'm always whinging to them in emails - looking at you, Clare). The characters aren't jelling, there's no spark between the characters, the story line is dull and uninspiring...it's just been a real slog to write.

So after 3 chapters I'm scrapping it and starting again. I hate doing it, because it's going to put my writing schedule behind, but no way will I write and put out a book that isn't to my satisfaction. It's not fair on me, the writer, and definitely not fair on you, the people who support my writing and keep me laughing and smiling and warm and fuzzy with your friendship. I refuse to put out a book that I consider dull and uninspiring. Hence the fresh start.

So while I'm recovering and off-line, I'll be jotting down new ideas in a notebook so that when I can next hit the computer (hopefully early next week), I have a new plot outlined and am ready to burn up the keyboard!

So until I come back on-line - keep smiling!

New Book Progress

So, as usual, I was having a lot of trouble with the first chapter. It's always hard introducing new characters without rushing everything and trying to explain their different personalities in long explanations. Setting the scene, etc.

So I wrote and re-wrote and cursed a little (okay, a lot, because I do, let's be honest), and then I wrote five more pages and lost the lot (I thought) and cursed heaps because I had no idea why my manuscript hadn't saved those last 5 pages and I panicked then chucked a wobbly (yes, I admit it, I act like a 2 yr old at times), and stormed off to bed to read instead. Yesterday I got up and lo and behold, my 5 pages I'd lost had magically reappeared! Then I realized (much to my embarrassment) that the five pages had always been there but what I'd been looking at was an earlier piece I'd cut and pasted at the bottom of the working manuscript to check out later and maybe add...

Oh dear.

Never mind. The creative juices are flowing again, and I needed that break because I've re-written the scene and am happy with it! So much so the hero and I aren't fighting and I like him much better ;-)

Onward I go!

Obstinant Characters

I don't believe it. I've just started this book, right? Not even finished the first chapter and what happens?

ME AND THE HERO ARE FIGHTING! Already!

This does not bode well for his future. Seriously, he is being such a DICK right now. Not towards anyone else except me, and if that sounds weird, I live my characters so I know him. And he won't cooperate.

He's facing the DELETE button if he keeps being such an obstinate character. He needs to pull HIS finger out and start behaving himself and do what he's supposed to do!

Sheesh...he's just lucky I have to stop writing now to have some lunch, as I have a late shift at work today and need to be dressed and leaving by 1340hrs. If he and I had to keep this mental wrestling match going, he would be one sorry bugger, that's all I can say...

New Book, New Series!

Okay, after a lot of debating to and fro (and procrastinating, because I'm so good at it. Seriously, it should be a sport - I'd excel) I have started writing a new book.

Actually, not just a new book, but a whole new BBW contemporary romance SERIES.

Yep, new BBW contemporary romance in a new series! Hoping it all goes well . Got the plot for the first book, a bit of an idea for the second, and was so eager beaver I did the covers for the first two books. So how about that - got the series title, the titles of the first 2 books in the series, and the first 2 covers. Now I just have to actually write the books LOL. Starting the first book today.

Seriously, I thought it about time I pulled my finger out and started a new series. I have a good feeling about this series, but don't want to say too much right now - can't give away everything! But I wanted you all to know that a new romance series is on the way, it's contemporary, and it's - wait, can't say too much *smacking forehead with palm*.

whooo!!!!

Outlaw is Released! And also...

YES! Outlaw is now released! Whoooooo!!!

I tell you, I'm so excited for a couple of different reasons -

1. I love seeing this new cover up, and knowing the story has new content as well.
2. Now I can write a new book before I tackle the next in the series!

So, first, Outlaw is available now from Amazon, Smashwords and Playster. It will be available soon from Kobo, Barnes & Noble and iTunes, as well as print from Lulu. Keep an eye on the website for updated links.

As I have no clue how to do links on here without doing the whole link (yes, I know, what kind of a drongo am I? Well, for those who know me after all this time...nothing unusual there), all links are on my website www.angelaverdenius.com.

And now, for the new announcement...wait, is it new? Wait..yes, it is! I'm starting to plot the next NEW book today. I have 3 choices I have to choose from, and I'm torn, to be truthful. I have ideas for a horror, an urban fantasy, and a contemporary romance. Wait, let's just add a new sci-fi romance idea as well, because why not? So four choices to choose from and not a freakin' clue which one to pick first. I wish I could just write them all at once! But alas, I have to choose...and that choice has to be done today. So I better rattle my daks and get to choosing.

Oh - hang on. Just realised I have to build the little set of steps first. Yes, the set of steps so my older cats can get up onto my bed without struggling. I went on-line and found this set of steps that look like scratching posts, but they're staggered in height to provide a set of steps up onto the bed. How cool is that? Wish me luck - it just arrived this morning and I have to un-box it and put it together myself, and I'm a bit brain challenged at the best of times, so...wish me luck!

THEN I'll get onto making that choice.

Hooroo!!! (and if you hear a scream , that's me trying to put this step thing together)

Last Re-read! and New Cover Reveal

YES!

On the last re-read now of the first sci-fi romance revision/re-write/re-edit. Hope to have it all done by tomorrow night (nothing like putting a little pressure on yourself, right?)

The cover for 'Outlaw' & the blurb is up on my website www.angelaverdenius.com if you're curious to have a peek.

I'll have the links for buying up asap. Just want to make sure I haven't missed any mistakes or plot problems before I upload to the various distributors/on-line stores.

Next week I plan to start a whole new story, have so many ideas churning, I will just need to choose one and run with it, and get a new book out asap, too!

whoo hoo!

My Name is Mud

My name is mud yet again.
It's because the furries were all due their vaccinations. Mum and I took the furry horde in 2 batches - 4 the first day, 3 the second day.
The vet was happy with the progress of Lily, Polly & Abby's diets. Slow weight loss but progress, he said, in the right direction.
Yay!
The furries however, weren't so delighted with their day out. Lacey and Evie wet themselves (poor little mites) and Evie and Lacey screamed the car down all the way to the vet. As in SCREAMED the car down. And you know, we had both of them in the 1st batch, so you can imagine the sound effects happening.
My shoulders were hunching up to my ears so much while I cowered over the steering wheel that by the time we got to the vet, I had a crick in my back for several hours after.
But the fun really started when we got home.
Polly growled at me every time I even looked at her. No swiping, no biting, but she was letting me know she WAS NOT HAPPY and I was a TRAITOR.
Evie and Lacey both had 24hrs being off post vaccinations. Neither ate tea, and Evie wouldn't get out of Mum's bed all night or all the next day, staying in a little huddled ball in the corner near the pillow and at times under the blanket. Evie stayed squirreled away on her little hammock under the backroom table.
Talk about feeling bad for the poor little things.
To top it off, Lacey has a bad tooth so now I've had to book her in to the vet tomorrow to have her teeth cleaned and possibly a tooth pulled.

To say my name will be mud with her again is putting it mildly. I may never live this down! *Cough* I was cowardly enough to book her in on my work day so Mum has to take her instead *Cough*

What? Don't look at me like that! At least I'm man (woman?) enough to admit I'm a coward! But after the fiasco of the vaccinations, I think I'm entitled to be!

Plans Plans Plans

So I'm madly re-editing/revising/re-writing the first book of the old sci-fi series. Eighteen years old, this first book. I thought updating and revising it would be easy...but it's turned into a re-write of proportions I didn't expect. My personal deadline of end of March has long since vanished in the distant past, the end of April is looming and I'm still re-editing/revising/re-writing!

But I'm on the last third of it now, and every day and minute off work I'm pounding the keyboard. I am determined to finish this first book asap!

As you know, my original plan was to re-do all 18 before I wrote a new book, (under the delusion that I'd have it all done within about 4 months - HA!) but I have ideas pounding in my head and so, after this first re-edit, I will be writing a new book before I start the re-edits/rewrites on the 2nd sci-fi novel of the series.

My question now is...what book will I write next? Ideas popping, fingers tapping....decisions decisions! Hopefully will be able to let you know in a week or two!

Cat vs Human

So one of my cats, Polly, and I are having a battle of the wills.
Polly has this idea in her furry little head that I should feed Her Majesty her breakfast on my bed. That's right, ON MY BED.
I show her the food bowl, she looks at it from where her furry bum is parked on my bed, to me.
I REFUSE to give in and instead put the bowl on the floor. This is as far as I'll go - putting the food bowl on the floor of my bedroom. The nasty smell of canned fish goes through my bedroom but I'm soft enough to allow this. But I'm NOT soft enough to allow that same fish to be fed to Polly on the bed because she gets the food here and there and next thing, my bed will stink like canned fish.
So her answer to that is to tuck herself under the cover and refuse to come out to eat breakfast.
Her next step is to come out halfway through the afternoon yelling that I didn't feed her, Mum didn't feed her and she is STARVING!
Then we have to feed her right now.
And the rest of the cats come mooching along, and we tell them it's too early for their dinner and Polly didn't get breaky and now our name is mud in their eyes because we fed Polly a big arvo snack and not them.

My life...it is a battlefield right now...
