New release - it's here!!!

Whoo hoo! I did it! I went on a writing marathon on my day off and before and after work, and I did it! I beat my deadline of the end of July!

Burn for You is book 1 in the new Gully's Fall BBW Romance series. It's available now on Amazon, All Romance eBooks and Smashwords in different ebook formats. Hopefully be available in Nook and Print soon. I'll let you all know as soon as I do.

As some of you guessed, the hero is a fireman. Now, over here in West Aussie, there are 2 kinds of firemen - the Firies who are in the towns and cities, and the Bushies who are the bushfire mob. I pumped my girlfriend's husband for information, seeing as he's a vollie fire fighter, and he went from being a Firie to a Bushie. Go figure. However, I've taken a few liberties with the story as I didn't want to mix them up, and heck, they live in a small town so I figure that whatever - they are hunky firemen! So I've kept it as authentic as I can. But they're HUNKY FIREMEN and you know what men in uniform do to me!

Sorry, got carried away and started drooling *wiping down keyboard*...and *top of desk*...and *around desk*...

Meanwhile, the big surprise...well, that didn't pan out. Originally, I meant to have this book as two shorter stories, kind of like two novellas. So Gully's Fall was supposed to be a series of duets - two stories in each book. So what happened? I tell you, these characters have a life of their own! Before I knew it, my hero and heroine had gallopped past the word count I'd allowed and turned my novella into a full-length novel!

So it looks like the Gully's Fall series will be full-length novels instead of 2 novellas in each book. Tossed out the Gully's Fall Duet sub title and just went with Gully's Fall

*sigh* I tell you, characters just run rampant sometimes.

Never mind, I guess that means I now have to start working on the next book - another full length novel - in the series!

Just going to have the rest of this week off to catch up on reading and watching some movies ('300: Rise of the Empire' is burning a hole on the bench near the TV waiting for me), then next Mondy I'll start the next book.

For more information on buying, the series, and the remaining three characters I need to write about, it's all on my website www.angelaverdenius.com.

Hope you all enjoy the story!

Getting There!

So the good news is the book is 3/4 of the way done! I've set a personal deadline of the end of July...*gulp*...which is kind of stupid when you think we're in tax time Down Under, and my days off are all over the place so... But alas, I am a glutton for punishment!

So, I just wanted to keep you all updated on my punishment regime. Hmm...that sounds alittle kinky, but I assure you, it's just me and my computer. Cripes, that sounds worse!

Nothing Goes as Planned

Without giving anything away, my plans for the new book are on-track, but took a decided turn. I've learned to go with this...just sigh, shake my head, slurp some more Diet Coke and keep writing.

Characters never quite turn out how you imagine them, they take on a life of their own, and suddenly I'm scared because I'm think WTHeck? Because the characters deciding to do their own thing or being someone completely different to the way they're supposed to be is just...well, weird, sometimes. And yes, it makes me nervous when they do this to me, because it affects my original story plan!

However, it keeps me on my toes (trying to be postive here!), and I've had more ideas. If the characters will only do WHAT THEY ARE TOLD!!!!

Finally!!! It's working!!!!

Okay, so I tried a different genre. I TRIED! I tried so hard I almost sweated blood. I had the characters worked out, a rough plan, but mates, nothing gelled. They were stilted, I kept coming up blank, the story seemed forced… So after two days of battling it, I shelved it for another time.

So I thought I'd start a BBW romance with a plot I'd been thinking about. It went okay for about 9 pages, then I deleted six of those pages and tried again…and again…and a-freakin'-gain! Look, it was also a no-go. The characters ran out of steam at page 3 every time. So another two days fighting these characters and I realised that this was not working. So shelved THAT story as well for another time!

Then the panic set in. OMG! What am I going to do? I've run out of ideas! My writing mojo is gone! I have NOTHING LEFT TO WRITE!

I stared at the vacant page on the computer and I was starting to freak out. So then I did what I always do and started playing Mahjong with music on, and this lovely tune came on and an idea started forming, then another, and more, and presto! I HAD IT!

So now I'm on Chapter 3 and it's doing well. Still a BBW romance, a new series with new characters & a new town, and a little difference that I hope people will like and accept. I'm giving it a go, so we'll see!!!

New Book started - ARGH!!!

So I started the new BBW romance yesterday. Wrote nine pages. Liked the first three and am ditching the rest today and re-doing. ARGH! I hate when scenes start off good and then spiral downwards after a few pages - it means the characters are not working with the scene. *shaking fist in exasperation*

Nothing for it but to scrap those pages and start again.

I have to admit, writing those first few pages is so hard for me. Trying to introduce new characters and situations without:

1. hurrying them
2. dragging the scene out

Never mind. I fortify mysef with a Diet Coke *sipsipsip*, put on the music (just loving 'Let It Go' from Frozen (yes, you heard me right...the animated Disney movie), and AxeMan from Resident Evil Afterlife.

What? I hear you say. Isn't that two extremes? Hey, you're looking at someone who loves zombie movies like Dawn of the Dead and Resident Evil, and who proudly rents the latest Tinkerbell movie when it comes out!

Going Nuts

Oh man, I know I'm supposed to be resting my tennis elbow, but it's driving me nuts. I've snuck on here to do my emails (okay, and scribble on this blog), but I keep having ideas for other stories. I'm trying to just jot ideas down and not start writing LOL.

ARGH!!!!!!

On the upside, I am catching up on TV shows and reading!!!

The Goodbye Girl - new release

Whoo hoo! Tonight...no, wait, it's 1:37am, so it's morning, right? Uhhhh...anyway, I finally finished writing 'The Goodbye Girl', my latest BBW romance.

I've gone back to Whicha, where 'The Lawson Boys: Alex', was set. Brought in another Aussie soldier (gotta love a man in uniform) and a quirky heroine.

So here's the blurb for anyone interested!

***** BLURB *****

Serving in Afghanistan, Aussie soldier Sergeant Nick Mason had enjoyed getting letters from The Goodbye Girl, but now he was going home, her usual goodbye letter had arrived. She was meant to be passed to the next lonely soldier, but Nick had other plans.

What he wasn’t prepared for was what he’d discover when he met her face-to-face. His Goodbye Girl was the town’s resident UFO weirdo…

It's available now in ebook format, soon in print. Feel free to check out my wesbite for links and excerpt if you wish.

Now, I have to say, I AM a believer. Yes, I, Angela Verdenius, hereby come out of the cupboard to reveal my secret. I believe in aliens. I believe the truth is definitely out there. I haven't seen one personally, seen a few weird things when I lived out bush, but never been on the receiving end of a visit. Don't think I want to. They have probes and stuff. But I still believe!

There...my secret is out..
