Reverse Conference: Building Redemption

Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2021

Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, Texas

It’s the central theme of the Bible: CHRIST BECAME REDEMPTION

“Redemption is the act of buying something back or paying a price or ransom to return something to your possession. Redemption is the English translation of the Greek word “agorazo,” meaning: REDEMPTION

1. To purchase in the marketplace.

2. To purchase a slave with the intent to set free.

In ancient times, it often referred to the act of buying a slave. It carried the meaning of freeing someone from chains, prison, or slavery.” –Jack Zavada, ThoughtCo.com

REDEMPTION CHANGES OWNERSHIP

Luke 4:18 – “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me. To preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed”

– things move from the kingdom of hell the the Kingdom of Heaven.

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised –Luke 4:18 KJV

REDEMPTION CHANGES EVERYTHING FOR ALL TIME.

Psalms 103:12 – As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

When redemption changes the time, redemption changes everything within that time from a curse to a blessing.

The consequence of redemption is we see heaven instead of hell, life instead of death, unlimited opportunities instead of the pit

Psalms 49:6-9 – Those who trust in their wealth and boast in the multitude of their riches, none of them can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him—for the redemption of their souls is costly, and it shall cease forever, that he should continue to live eternally, and not see the Pit.

Reverse:

1. A complete change of direction or action. “The growth actuates a reverse of photosynthesis.”
2. The opposite or contrary to that previously stated. “He didn’t feel homesick—quite the reverse.”

The curse REVERSED

2 Kings 20:1-6 – In those days Hezekiah became ill and was at the point of death. The prophet Isaiah son of Amoz went to him and said, “This is what the Lord says: Put your house in order, because you are going to die; you will not recover.” 2 Hezekiah turned his face to the wall and prayed to the Lord, 3 “Remember, Lord, how I have walked before you faithfully and with wholehearted devotion and have done what is good in your eyes.” And Hezekiah wept bitterly. 4 Before Isaiah had left the middle court, the word of the Lord came to him: 5 “Go back and tell Hezekiah, the ruler of my people, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will heal you. On the third day from now you will go up to the temple of the Lord. 6 I will add fifteen years to your life. And I will deliver you and this city from the hand of the king of Assyria. I will defend this city for my sake and for the sake of my servant David.’

THE CURSE CAN BE REVERSED INSTANTANEOUSLY

1 Corinthians 15:52 – …in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

And we see it all the time.

Sometimes, reversing the curse is a long process of being committed to relationship with God and conforming to the image of our identity in Christ.

The word commit shows up in the Bible 164 times.

Psalms 37:5 – “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will bring it to pass (act).”

When you fall out of your commitment to reversing the curse and living a life that expresses redemption You are giving into and bowing your knee to the false God in the cursed place.

Exodus 20:5-6 – Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; 6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

WHEN YOU BOW TO THE ENEMY AND GIVE WAY TO THE CURSE, YOUR FOUNTAIN LIFE BECAME A POLLUTED WELL.

Proverbs 25:26 – Like a muddied spring or a polluted well are the righteous who give way to the wicked.

We will not bow! We resist the enemy.  We rebuke the devil. We only bow to God we will not bow the curses inflicted upon us by those around us or even from ourselves.

We repent. We call God Holy. We take on and carry his Holy name in a way that looks more like heaven than like hell.

Psalms 111:9 – He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.

Galatians 3:13 – Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us…

THE GIVER

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I AM perfect and Holy God. There is none like Me because I Am Love. When you accept the love I have for you, you become worthy of giving that very same love back to Me. Come, worship and bow down!

THE GIVER

The Bible tells us in Genesis that God formed man from the dust of the earth and breathed life into him. From the very beginning of His relationship with us, God has been a giver.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” – James 1:17

The greatest gift He’s every given is Himself and He’s done that on numerous occasions. The most notable are the cross and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Both of those are acts of love because we are incapable of loving God on our own. Once we accept His love, we can then love him in return.

“A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.” – John 3:27

It’s true! Only God can love God. We’re incapable without His redemption and His Spirit living in us.

“Or who has first given to Him and it shall be repaid to him? For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever. Amen.” – Romans 11:53-36

God gave you and me a command to love Him with all our heart, all our mind, all our strength and all our soul. God gives the command, but honestly it’s not really a command.

Here’s what God is trying to teach us: He wants us to love Him but we can’t. So, when He tells us to love Him, it’s an invitation to be loved by Him. He’s giving us an invitation to receive it so we can give it back. We are the beloved.

Do you love the Lord Jesus with all your heart, mind and strength? Accept the love of the Father, the sacrifice of the Son and the gift of the Holy Spirit and live in abundance today.

NO GOING BACK!

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Your destiny is much more important to Me than your history. You need to advance in your purpose so move forward. Don’t look back. There is nothing for you there. Hope is in front of you. Go after it!

NO GOING BACK!

Sometimes, all you can do is stand with God not knowing how to advance. Standing is a big deal in the Bible. You can’t fight from a chair, but standing doesn’t mean you’re advancing. It just means you’re upright.

If you’re standing and you’ve got on the full armor of God, the first thing you notice is you don’t have any butt armor.

Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God… – Ephesians 6:14-17

Nope, no backside armor listed! That means you can’t turn around because you’ll be unprotected. You’ll be vulnerable to attack and maybe worse. With that said, have you ever been in a place where you can’t move forward but if you go back you’ll die? What do you do in that place? You stand.

What does it mean to stand? To stand literally is a picture of righteousness. If you look up the word righteousness it means “one with legs.” It means you know you can stand in the righteousness of the Lord Jesus Christ.

God is holy. He has His act together, God is good and I won’t budge on that. I will not budge on the fact that God is good. I will not budge on the fact that God is with me. I will not budge. There are just some things you have to decide you will not give up – come hell or high water you will stand on those things.

What are you standing on? His goodness? His abundant life or power? Are you standing on a promise He gave you years ago and you’re faithfully waiting for Him to bring it to pass? Whatever it is, it’s worth digging your heals in and standing firm. Keep looking forward and telling yourself, “No going back!”

A WONDERFUL LIFE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

You are the apple of My eye. I see you as you will be on the day of fulfillment – perfect and blameless. Your history is not your destiny. You are My prized possession so do not fear My presence.

A WONDERFUL LIFE

God hears your prayers wherever you are. But there are special places Jesus commands you to go where you take special prayers because you’re looking for special results. That’s part of the romance between you and God. That’s how intimacy works.

Now, I’ve been married to my beautiful wife for 30 years. When I was young and poor, I would take her to the Dairy Queen. Romantic? No. An intimacy builder where she could see my true love for her? No. But drive six hours to the Dairy Queen in Hot Springs, Arkansas just so I can be with her for six hours? She got the point!

Just like that, Jesus loves it when you consider how to build intimacy with Him. He is a Bridegroom after all and He’s been building a “secret place” for you for over 2,000 years. Jewish wedding tradition is a shadow to give us a sneak peek into God’s great plan.

Back in the day, a Jewish man would take all of the wealth he had earned – everything he owned including his own identity – and present it to the girl he wanted to make his. The more extravagant the gift, the greater the promise of a wonderful life together.

After she accepted his gift, that young man would run home and build the house they were to share. Do you think he built a shack? No! He would think of her every need and desire, wanting to please her and show the depth of his love.

Jesus is our Bridegroom. He paid the price with His life. He’s gone to prepare a place for us and it’s going to be amazingly personal to each one of us. Are you preparing to meet Him? Are you sending Him love letters of prayer and praise to encourage His affection? That’s romance and believe Me, He is listening!

And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. – John 14:3

ARE YOU CALLED TO AN OPEN DOOR?

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

Behold, I stand at the door of your life and knock. Will you let Me in? Will you let My Holy Spirit have its way in your heart and fill you with the oil of joy? Let your lamp be lit with enough oil to spare for I Am coming soon.

ARE YOU CALLED TO AN OPEN DOOR?

Jesus says in the book of Luke and in Matthew 24 that the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the heavens and when you see these things begin to happen, look up from what you’re doing because it’s even at the door. What’s at the door? The Bridegroom, Jesus.

Now, “even at the door” means one of two things: you are either the Church of Philadelphia or the Church of Laodicea.

The Church of Philadelphia had its act together. They were known for “brotherly love.” They knew love is a verb. They knew how to take care of others in a selfless way that proved Jesus is good. Because of that, this church is called up to an open door, amen.

“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” – Revelation 3:7-8

I believe that open door no man can shut is the rapture of the Church – the five wise virgins with the oil of the Spirit in their lamps – for the marriage supper of the lamb.

Now, the Church of Laodicea was known for being lukewarm, just like the water that flowed there from the Roman aqueducts. They have no fire, no passion, no zeal. In the Laodicean Church, Jesus Christ is at the door and he’s knocking because we’ve kicked Him out. Did you catch that? He’s at the door.

My friends, the Bridegroom cometh. He’s at the door. The Sign of the Son of Man appeared in the heavens in September of 2017. We’re supposed to be looking for Him. He’s at the door and I’ve got to ask, are you called to an open door or is your door shut? Don’t leave Jesus on the outside. Love thy neighbor as yourself.

FROM VICTORY TO VICTORY

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I Am a God who is constant. I Am not one to visit from time to time. I implore you to stay within My presence. I Am not like a switch you turn off and on when needed. My love for you is never-ending.

FROM VICTORY TO VICTORY

The Bible speaks of  “a land flowing with milk and honey.” That means empowerment. It means fertility and reproduction. If it’s “flowing,” that means it’s constant.

In the Promised Land, things are flowing. There’s a flow that happens when you get into the Holy Spirit. You go from one place to another – here a little, there a little, line upon line, precept upon precept, from glory to glory, deep unto deep. Amen. You just go from one level to the next level and you’re flowing with it.

I’m talking about an environment that’s nuclear powered. It’s not temporary or seasonal. It’s a sustained all-the-time power.

It’s not “on again, off again” like the Old Testament. God’s on. God’s off. God’s happy. God’s mad. The people are following Him. The people are worshipping idols. It’s like watching a tennis match! Do you have good days and bad days? When you abide in His presence, it’s all good! Check out this psalm:

“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”  – Psalms 16:11

And if you think God is bipolar, I can guarantee He’s not.

This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5. (KJV)

In Promised Land living, God’s goodness concerning His kingdom and of His peace, my friends, there shall be no end. The place that God has for you is flowing.

Remain in His presence. Don’t just go to Him when things look bad or be a “visitor.” Stay with Him and His blessings will not only flow, they will pursue you all the days of your life – from victory to victory!

THIS IS NOT A DRILL!

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

I created you for relationship – to be an heir to My glorious Kingdom. That Kingdom and its benefits are limitless. There is enough for all. Bring others to the table so I can call them family.

THIS IS A NOT A DRILL!

When you get to heaven, there are two tests. The first test is a test of holiness. If you’ve given your life to the Lord Jesus Christ, you’ve passed! Jesus’ righteousness has been credited to you as an A+.

If you haven’t, your name is not in the Lamb’s Book of Life. So, get yourself saved and your name engraved in those pages so you can be holy or “set apart” for the Kingdom.

The second test is the Judgment Seat of Christ or the “Bema Seat” of Christ. This test is for those who have been found in the Lamb’s Book of Life. The Bible says after those who are dead that have been judged unholy, then He judges the holy according to how you served.

“But Pastor Troy, you mean Jesus is going to be mad at me because I didn’t do enough nice things for people?” No! The test of the Judgment Seat is not for punishment, it’s for rewards. This test is a party!

This is something you need to know: you will participate and it doesn’t need to blindside you. Here’s what’s on this test: Did you serve? Did you conform your life to the image of God’s plan? Did you love others and reflect Jesus through your actions and help some people get saved?

This is not a heaven or hell issue. This is a reward issue. Were your works – how you actually lived your life and served – were they man-made for your lifetime or were they Kingdom born for eternity?

Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we for an imperishable. – 1 Corinthians 9:24-25

You’re to strive for imperishable or eternal service – service that brings people closer to Jesus and testifies of His goodness. That is your sole purpose in this life – bringing people to a saving faith in Jesus. Will you pass the test?

YOUR FINISH LINE

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

While I Am the same yesterday, today and for eternity, that is not My plan for you. You were made to grow and change, to mature and transform. Do not fear this process. My promises are worth striving for.

YOUR FINISH LINE

I can’t tell you how important it is to understand that the depth of your relationship with Jesus determines the depth of your intimacy with Him. Likewise, the depth of your intimacy with Him determines the secret that is revealed to you.

The reason so many people in the Body of Christ do not know what I’m telling you is because religion has taught them that everything is about getting saved. It’s true. Religion tells us when we get saved everything will be great as if Jesus never said,

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” – John 16:33

There is faith unto salvation, but there’s another world of promise you’re qualified for once you get saved. The key to unlocking those promises is intimacy. If you never move from being a child of the King to a servant, then a friend, then a bride, you’re not living the fully redeemed life Jesus died to offer you.

Let me say it this way: if you halt between two opinions –as the Bible says – then you’re going to live a bipolar Christian lifestyle. What about the sin in your life? If you’re saved, you are qualified to displace it.

You’re qualified to walk in the Promised Land, confront a stronghold that’s always been in your life and say, “Come down, in the name of Jesus.” You’re qualified to walk right up to a giant and say, “Die, in the name of Jesus. You don’t rule me.”

But you don’t qualify for that if you ain’t saved. So, get yourself saved and become part of God’s family. It takes time and communication to build a relationship and Father God is no exception. The more effort you put into it, the more promises you’ll see fulfilled.

Do you want the keys to your promise? Do you understand your identity and how it is connected to your destiny? You won’t find these things in comfortable places. Go after the heart of God. Give Him your time and attention and let salvation be your starting point – not your finish line.

FEAR NOT LITTLE CHILDREN

TODAY’S PROPHETIC THOUGHT

How My heart aches when you fail to understand the vastness of the inheritance I have for you. It is real. It is yours. All authority and power to crush the enemy are yours.

FEAR NOT LITTLE CHILDREN

I want to encourage you to go through Psalms 8. It’s all about the majestic side of God and, my friends, His indescribable majesty is something all of us need to tap into.

“O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!” – Psalms 8:9

You know what? Each of us has this giant hole in our life that only God can fill. We have to recognize that and embrace His willingness to fill it!

It’s His joy, His willingness to be that for you! It’s His willingness to give you the Kingdom. Jesus says, “Fear not little children. It is the Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.” It doesn’t wear Him out to be your Daddy. It makes Him happy.

Do you know Him as your Daddy? Do everything you can do to learn how to approach God in a relationship as His son or daughter, and not just a servant. Servants don’t know what the master is doing. They have no rights and no inheritance. In short, a servant is an orphan.

Jesus’ blood paid for you to be a joint heir – to share in His inheritance, eat at His table and have access to all the power and authority that He has. Are you a member of the family or a servant? Are you a beloved child or an orphan?

Let the majesty of Jesus overwhelm you. Let Him fill that empty space in your heart. Surrender those strongholds in your life and let your inheritance take root. It’s indescribable.
