LOVE SONG OF OLD
Don’t be afraid of the secret place between us. I will serve your greatest needs there and you will serve mine by loving and helping those without hope. Care for the widow, the orphan, the lonely and oppressed and selflessly serve them as you would Me.
LOVE SONGS OF OLDThe power of intent is huge in the Kingdom. Being intentional means you have determined to make something a priority. Make no mistake, this is about romance.
God Almighty is the inventor of romance. If you don’t know anything about romance, you’re not going to know anything about this. What’s real is intimacy changes from when you’re young to when you’re old.
The only understanding that young people have of intimacy at first is the physical part. After time, that changes into an understanding of serving that other person and putting their needs first. It’s vulnerability. It’s all about being vulnerable with someone and trusting them with everything that you have.
How you express that at first is physical and it’s glorious! But it morphs into something much more than something just physical. It matures into something deep and life-giving because your life is about selflessly serving that other person and wrapping your world around them. That’s what love songs are always about and the Lord Jesus knows a little about that.
The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.” – Jeremiah 31:3
Notice the words “appeared of old to me.” The Lord is saying the love between him and Jeremiah is mature, deep and selfless. That’s some love song God wrote to that prophet and He’s singing it to you as well.
Want a mature love with Jesus? Serve Him and the least of these. He will serve you right back and, I promise you, it will be life-changing.

THE NEW NORMAL
Have you wondered by I said it is for freedom’s sake that I give you freedom? Because without freedom, there can be no love. Likewise, freedom without love is useless. Give love and bring freedom to the captives. Do it for freedom’s sake.
THE NEW NORMALNormal church and normal Christianity are over. They don’t work in this present day when offense and drama rule in the public arena. What’s real is Christianity is supposed to be a verb.
Did you hear that? The love of God is supposed to be a verb. You and I are to be a people of action bringing heaven to earth the lost and hurting. It’s your assignment to see the results of heaven in people’s lives. Amen.
You need to be in alignment for that assignment. I know I am. I know my assignment is to bring freedom to the captives of sexual slavery, poverty, religion, sin and death. Just like that, you need to be a mission-minded person who is all about carrying the presence of our living God into every single storm of life – yours and those you come in contact with.
You and I are not afraid or intimidated by the things this world brings. We are much more aware of the presence and promises of God than we are of the birth pangs you and I are experiencing as we get closer to the return of the Lord Jesus Christ!
For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Messiah,’ and will deceive many. You will hear of wars and rumors of wars … Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains. – Matthew 24:5-7
Make no mistake, the birth pangs have already started. My friends, it’s on! Because the time is so short, there is no room for drama or offense. There is only time to extend the freedom of salvation to those perishing. Like I said, normal church is over. Make love a verb. Be the hands, feet and heart of Jesus today. It’s the new normal.

THE BLOOD SPEAKS
I created you with an identity. When you said “yes” to the offer of My blood, your identity was unlocked. Listen to Me. I will tell you who you are and give you a purpose for My glory.
THE BLOOD SPEAKSI’m absolutely amazed that one of the things you can do today is find your identity according to your flesh. You’ve seen the DNA kits and heritage services, right? If you haven’t, you’ve either been under a rock or too occupied with Game of Thrones to notice. They’re everywhere!
One of the things folks are figuring out is that we’re all a bunch of “Heinz 57” – 57 ingredients. It’s absolutely shocking to me how folks will change their life because they found out they’re 5 percent Romanian. “Pastor Troy, I’m eating goulash every day for the rest of my life. It’s my heritage!”
That’s how geared we are to be identified by our own flesh.
Your flesh has the blood of Abel in it and that brother was a murderer. However, your spirit has the blood of Jesus in it and the blood of Jesus is not only superior, it actually speaks to your identity, purpose and destiny.
…to the general assembly and church of the firstborn who are registered in heaven, to God the Judge of all, to the spirits of just men made perfect, to Jesus the Mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling that speaks better things than that of Abel. – Hebrews 12:23-24
It’s interesting to me that this passage speaks about the “firstborn registered in heaven.” That’s you and me once we get saved. We’re those “spirits of men made perfect” by Jesus the mediator’s blood. That’s because His shed blood is now our supernatural blood – our DNA if you will.
Now, I’m not against you finding out your ethnicity and celebrating it. But I want to tell you something: your identity in Christ is a supernatural identity and it doesn’t come from your forefathers. It comes from your heavenly Father. That’s what you’re supposed to live out.
What is the blood of Jesus speaking through you? This is a good day to celebrate your supernatural DNA!

OUT OF CAPTIVITY
I Am Love. There is no love without free will. That’s why your freedom is so important to Me. Desire freedom and run from that which enslaves you into My loving arms. Freedom and love go hand-in-hand.
OUT OF CAPTIVITYBaptism is a big deal, I promise you, it is. And just like everything else we do as Christians, we have a tendency to downplay things so we don’t seem too “churchy” or weird. Baptism shouldn’t be one of those things.
Baptism is not about when you go into the water. It’s about when you come out. Let’s unpack this.
Baptism is a picture of the Hebrew people leaving the bondage of Egypt. They were leaving behind that thing that owed them. God opened the Red Sea for them to walk across dry land to their Promised Land.
When Pharaoh’s armies chased them into the water, God said, “Nope. Not today you devil from hell. He made those waters close up and destroy the enemy while His people were safe on the other side – free from their captivity.
That’s what you’re doing in baptism. Leaving that thing that owns you behind. Debt, despair, depression, bad relationships, addiction, fear, an ungodly lifestyle – whatever you want to bury at the bottom of the sea.
Pray and think about what you’re going to leave in that water. Ask God how you can meet Him in that place and how the heavens can be opened unto you. Just like Jesus, ask how you can hear Him speak and how the Spirit of the Lord can descend on you like a dove as you come up out of the water.
And here’s one last thing to think about: not only did the Red Sea keep the Egyptians from going after God’s people, the Red Sea kept God’s people from going back into slavery. Sometimes, the devil you know looks better than the angel you don’t. Don’t run back to that mess!
Don’t make baptism nominal. Don’t make it about a ritual because it’s so much bigger than that. Baptism is about something Jesus Christ has offered you and you need to go all the way with it.
Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity… – Jeremiah 20:12-14

IT’S UP TO YOU
Love requires freedom. Because I Am love, I have given you freedom to decide how much of My presence you want in your life. You can have it all. You don’t have to share. I Am limitless and so is My love for you.
IT’S UP TO YOUIt’s up to you if you have a walk with Jesus that provokes people to jealousy or if you’re the kind of Christian who causes people to hate Christianity. That’s not up to anybody else.
“Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” – Luke 6:38
This verse says it’s not up to God – it’s up to you – to determine how much of the Kingdom you get into your life. God has already said, “Yes,” and your job is to say, “Amen,” because the Bible says the promises of God are “yes and amen.”
“Yes” is what God says. “Amen” or “let it be established” is how you and I need to respond. That means it’s one thing for God to reveal His plan to you. It is another thing for you to conform your life to the image of His plan.
Heres a great example from the Bible. It’s one thing for King Jesus to give Judas the money bag. It’s another thing for Judas to start living like he’s not a thief anymore. Judas got as much Kingdom as he wanted, which was zero.
Think about that. Jesus gave Judas the moneybag knowing he was a thief. He didn’t do that because He was ignorant or stupid. Jesus was giving Judas an opportunity to exercise his free will to choose Him. Judas was living epic on the outside, but on the inside, his walk was less than nominal. He chose poorly.
So, what is it? Epic or nominal? It’s up to you.

Truth or Treat: A Halloween Message
Oct. 31, 2021
Pastor Troy Brewer, OpenDoor Church, Burleson, TX
Let’s talk about crazy for a minute. It’s hard to describe crazy.
“CRAZY”
1. usually offensive: having or showing severe mental illness; a hospital for crazy people
2. unable to think in a clear or sensible way. “She’s crazy with jealousy.”
In the 1800s, “Madcap” was a common word. Also, the mad hatter because they made hats back in the day with liquid mercury and it made the makers crazy. You might also say “Looney.”
In the 1920s, you were “crackers” or “bugsey,” as in Bugs Bunny or American mobster, hit man and founder of Las Vegas Bugsey Malone.
In the 1930s, you were “Bats” or “Bananas.”
In the 50’s, it was “Off the wall”or “Pyscho.”
But in the 1940s, the term for crazy was one you will recognize. You were “NUTS.”
“December 22, 1944: To the U.S.A. Commander of the encircled town of Bastogne. The fortune of war is changing. This time the U.S.A. forces in and near Bastogne have been encircled by strong German armored units. More German armored units have crossed the river Ourthe near Ortheuville, have taken Marche and reached St. Hubert by passing through Hompre-Sibret-Tillet.
Libramont is in German hands. There is only one possibility to save the encircled U.S.A troops from total annihilation: that is the honorable surrender of the encircled town. In order to think it over, a term of two hours will be granted beginning with the presentation of this note. If this proposal should be rejected, one German
Artillery Corps and six heavy A. A. Battalions are ready
to annihilate the U.S.A. troops in and near Bastogne. The
order for firing will be given immediately after this two
hours’ term. All the serious civilian losses caused by this
artillery fire would not correspond with the well-known
American humanity. – The German Commander.”
The reply was typed up, centered on a full sheet of paper. It read:
“December 22, 1944: To the German Commander, N U T S ! – The American Commander”
In a day where death is celebrated. In a day where fear is demanding 100% compliance, it bewilders the enemy when we are not afraid.
The enemy will always demand that you give up hope and take the option of surrender.
It is very important to the enemy that you are demoralized.
You get demoralized, filled with fear and bow your knee to the enemy. Your surrender doesn’t help anything but the enemy.
SELF-AWARENESS AND EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE
are given to victorious Christians who know when their compass is broken and they are under the influence of a lie.
King David spoke to himself when he said
Psalm 42:5 – Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him For the help of His countenance
Isaiah 41:10 – So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Psalm 23:4 – Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
Psalm 27:1 – The Lord is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 46:1-3 – God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
Psalm 118:6 – The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
John 14:27 – Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Deuteronomy 31:6 – Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.
Isaiah 41:13 – For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.
Hebrews 13:6 – So we say with confidence, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?”
Deuteronomy 3:22 – Do not be afraid of them; the Lord your God himself will fight for you.
Luke 12:32 – (Jesus says), “Do not be afraid, little flock, for your Father has been pleased to give you the kingdom.”
Lamentations 3:57 – You came near when I called you, and you said, “Do not fear.”
Psalm 56:3-4 – When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise—in God I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
I want to talk to you about Crazy Faith, Crazy hope, and crazy love in the day we are living in.
People will think you are flat-out crazy—that you are nuts if you are stable in the midst of instability, full of courage when the masses are trembling and if you are full of hope when narrative of the world is depression.
PEOPLE WILL ASK YOU …”WHY?”
1 Peter 3:15 – But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;
Put God first in your heart, sanctify Him. Be ready to make a big deal out the agenda of Jesus and his authority and have a predetermined response.
IT’S SUPERNATURALLY ATTRACTIVE FOR YOU TO BE FULL OF HOPE WHEN EVERYONE ELSE IS NOT.
We are Culture, atmosphere and environment
We have to set a tone.
We are thermostats and not thermometers.
Show no fear. We have a tremendous value for courage.
“So, first of all, let me assert my firm belief that the only thing we have to fear is fear itself—nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt
If you have a value for going to the next level—if you have a value progressing—if you have a value for advancing and seeing God’s will being done in your life and His Kingdom coming to push back hell, you cannot have a value for fear.
Fear is designed to stop momentum. Thats why it is so important to the enemy that you are full of fear.
A resolve and dedication to make yourself think about certain things.
Philippians 4:8 – Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things
A commitment to live a life of contemplation.
The enemy wants you to believe that the way you work on your problems is that you work on your problems.
THE PRINCIPLE OF DISPLACEMENT
ISRAEL WAS SENT INTO THE PROMISED LAND TO DISPLACE THE ENEMY THERE AND TO OCCUPY THE PROMISE.
1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
Perfect love casts out (displaces) all fear
The mission of Christ was to bring a demonstration and a revelation of God’s love.
A revelation of God’s love is our true source of power over any and all things.
Once you step into the spirit of adoption, you step into this lavish love of God that says, “I’m not an orphan. I’m a son or a daughter of God and I am loved.”
Romans 8:15 – The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.”
1 John 4:18 – There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

THE KRYPTONITE OF SEEKING
Seeking requires action. Sometimes, it requires stamina. I Am worth it and so are the gifts and upgrades I have for you. Seek Me no matter how long it takes and you will be found by Me.
THE KRYPTONITE OF SEEKINGOffense will destroy you. It will keep you rooted in one spot and once you’re not moving, you’re an easy target for the enemy. Listen to me on this. Offense will drain you of all desire for forward progression.
You have to get past the “I don’t wanna’s” of life. The “I don’t wanna’s” are apathy and apathy kills you. Apathy is the absence or suppression of passion. It’s the part of you that says, “I better not get too fired up about that because I might get disappointed.”
So your value for your comfort is greater than being passionate about Jesus. You have to change your values. Your balance is messed up and the Bible says that God doesn’t like false balance.
Dishonest scales are an abomination to the Lord, But a just weight is His delight. – Proverbs 11:1
A big part of dealing with your “I don’t wanna’s” is dealing with the part of you that simply wants to make it through the moment. That’s the survival mentality. That’s actually what Jesus is addressing when He’s talking to everybody in Matthew 6:25-34.
Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? – Matthew 6:30
God’s not saying to be irresponsible and just wait for your needs to magically show up on your doorstep. You still have to go to work. God is saying, “Do not approach me as though you are a survivor. The survivor mentality is a poverty mentality.” God doesn’t think like a poor man. Surviving is the kryptonite of seeking and seeking is necessary for finding.
Sick of apathy? Tired of being a survivor? Get up! Refuse to be offended and go after Jesus is a crazy cool way. You’ll never be disappointed.

A DIFFERENT SPIRIT
You have been set apart through the acceptance of My Gift, My sacrifice. Be in this world, not of it and you will endure to the end. If you endure, they will be saved.
A DIFFERENT SPIRITYou and I need to have a different Spirit. As this world is losing its mind, we need to have something very, very different about us.
Because you’re not walking and talking like the world and drinking the cool-aide the world is serving up, you need to know your walk is going to be controversial.
Folks are not going to like it. People who say they hate slavery will hate you for saving people out of slavery. People who say they care about the hungry and the homeless will try to talk you out of feeding and helping those very people. How does that work?
In their theater of drama, it just works. People who don’t like truth compensate. They exchange truth for drama.
In this day of instability, you need to have a stability that comes from the Presence of the Lord no matter what it is you’re working through. Today, I want to help you through that.
Dealing with controversy means learning where to draw a line and where do you not draw a line. A line tells you and the world where you stand and where do you not. Do not stand with the mob. Do not stand in a dramatic place.
Stand with Jesus. Have a different spirit and stand up for Truth – it’s also the Way and the Life! Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. – 1 Corinthians 16:13

THE FROSTING ON TOP
Love is selfless. Because I Am love I Am not selfish. I gave Myself to bear the judgment of those under judgment. I put myself in your place. Put yourself in the shoes of the lost and tell them about Me.
THE FROSTING ON TOPToday, I’ll start with the bad news: There’s going to be a test on your life. Now, here’s the good news: God Almighty provided the Bible to let you know exactly what’s going to be on the test so you can pass.
There are actually two tests and a lot of people don’t know that. A lot of people just think in terms of the one test – the test to see if you’re holy. That’s the Great White Throne Judgment found in Revelation 20.
“Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God, and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.” – Revelation 20:11-15
That test is the qualifier for eternity in heaven with King Jesus. If you’re not saved, your name is not in the Lamb’s Book of Life, so here’s some advice for you: get yourself saved.
If you’re a Christian and you pass that test, there’s another test you need to know about. This test is to see if you served. It is called the Judgment Seat of Christ. This test is not about judgment. It’s about rewards.
God is such a loving God, He doesn’t just want you to be in Heaven with Him for eternity, He wants to honor you while you’re there. Why? Because it’s His good pleasure. It makes Him happy.
It makes Him happy the same way it makes a mama happy to give her kids credit for making the cake when they only put the frosting on top. So, make your Father God happy today. Do something He can applaud you for. Serve somebody.
