Your Stories Will Outlive You. Give Them All You’ve Got.

I want people years after my death to find my tales and enjoy them. I leave no children except my characters.

Novelty Revisions

I don’t know about you. But I think a lot about the fact that I will not be here forever.

Not that I plan on going anywhere anytime soon. I have stuff to do.

But (uh, probably thanks to John Green) I spend a little time each day thinking about human mortality. And I spend a lot more time than that wondering if the things I am doing with my moments really matter. Especially when it comes to my writing.

I think it’s safe to say at this point that I’ve spent the majority of my life wanting to be a writer. The exact logistics of what that has meant for me personally have changed many times. But I have always been drawn to storytelling. It has always ignited a very powerful fire inside me.

But I am not immune to the usual tribulations of the creative arts. I doubt…

What you can do with old stories?

I’m do re-do’s of my older works and think it’s worth it to ‘refresh’ these older tales. I may just sub them to a publisher in another decade or so…

Jean's Writing

Submit that story, even if published elsewhere.

Now you can dust off those great stories and send them to a new home. Again and again.

And I’ve got just the list for you!

That’s right, there are publishers that accept reprints. So, if you’ve got a story you would like to see published again.

Check out this article…

25 Literary Journals that Accept Reprints  by Emily Harstone

Do you have a great story stuck in no-mans land?

Have you tried resubmitting a published story before?

Are you going to try to go for a reprint?

Or do you think every story should be one and done?

Tuesday Musings: Snow

For some, a four-letter-word, but for me it’s a word with four letters.

It’s a cold day here and we are waiting for snow. Though; that said, the weather folks have it on their prediction map for a week, it takes a day to fall, and 10 seconds to melt; usually the next day. LOL

I love snow. Ever since I was a kid growing up in the foothills of the Appalachians and getting foot-deep snows; I’ve loved it.

There’s just something magical about watching the big flakes fly and softly, noiselessly, covering everything with their crisp, white, cold blanket. It silences everything and all the ugliness is suddenly brightened and beautified.

Now, driving in it is quite another issue; and I’ve seen and been in my share of fishtailing, sliding, and avoiding being T-boned. It’s maddening! But once you’re safely home and are with loved ones; it is a wonderful feeling.

What you don’t know about success

Great advice!

Cristian Mihai

Success is a word gets thrown around a lot. It’s become meaningless. We all want it and the definition of success is different for everyone.

Some of us want a beautiful family life. Some of us want a successful business. Some of us want lots of money so we can exchange it for goods and services.

To make matters worse, society has developed a set of tools to help you become comfortable. To have what you want, when you want it, which is right here, right now.

We have lost track of who we are supposed to be. Life and success are harsh. Unless you are will to fight like hell for what you want, then you’ll never be successful.

Consider this your wake up call!

It’s time to stop fantasizing and do what you have to do to get what you want.

Whatever your definition of success is, you’ll need…

Out today! Upstaged 3: Duet

There’s nothing like a wedding to bring out the best—and the worst—in people.

Billy and Vince are getting married. The Von is taking time off to celebrate and the gang are all together, with a few additions.

The Caliendo family make quite an impression, especially Cousin Angel, but it’s Connor’s new boyfriend, Shaun who really takes the biscuit. Fists fly, but that’s par for the course in an Italian wedding, isn’t it?

When the dust settles, a tentative relationship begins that might finally give Angel what he’s always dreamed of – acceptance and love.
