[image error]Rainbow snippets FB page

Happy first day of December! Wow has this year flown by or what??? Are you ready for the Holidays?

I’m posting again from This Time Around (which is a rework of Refugees which is the sequel to For the Heart of Phillip). Drama was everywhere in the first book; but it’s been tamed in this volume, which follows Robert and David’s journey after things didn’t go as planned in book one.

This book is now available only at  Amazon

What is Rainbow Snippets? It’s a group of LGBT+ authors who post six sentences (or more) from a current WIP, published work or even something they’ve read that they want to rave about. Click on the link below the rainbow to be transported to a place of wonder where you will find tasters of everything from sweet romance, to hot and steamy, to fantasy and sci-fi.

To set the stage: (spoiler alert)!!! In the first book, Robert and Phillip break up and David and Andrew break up.

Last week was the end of the heartbreaking opener where David finds his “Dear David” letter.  This week focuses on Robert and what he does after he left Phillip:

Twenty-six-year-old congressional aide, Robert Marshall was, once again, heartbroken. What was worse, was that it was the same man who’d broken his heart before; he’d let it happen again. He’d just left the man he loved more than anything, Phillip Marnier. They’d lived together for months, and had been together; but the feelings weren’t mutual.

It was more than obvious Phillip was still in love with his husband, Andrew. Robert beat himself up for even trying to get back with his first-ever boyfriend, especially as things had been complicated immensely by the fact he himself had been married at the time.

This book is now available only at  Amazon

How to Recover From Painful Negative Feedback in 5 Steps

I’ve had these moments a lot! Great advice!

A Writer's Path

by Daniella Levy

There it is.

That feedback you’ve been so terrified to receive. The one that makes all your self-doubt demons shriek: “YOU SEE?! WE TOLD YOU SO!!!”

You know which one I’m talking about.

Aim for the company of immortals

What I needed today…

Cristian Mihai

“Don’t bunt. Aim out of the ballpark. Aim for the company of immortals.”David Ogilvy

Your brain is designed to keep you safe. To help you survive. If you survived, if you ate, if you have a place to sleep, if you feel safe, then your brain will trick you into thinking that’s all you can achieve.

You’ll be able to rationalize why you don’t have the kind of life you want, or why you are not who you want to be.

But there’s a big difference between living and surviving.

The truth is that it does not matter. Any of it.

You’ll either wear out or rust out. The choice is yours. It always was.

The worst that could happen is death, and we all die, and so…

I’d say it’s best to go out fighting.

To not go gentle into that good night.

Why lead a quiet…

Shhh…don’t tell my mom…

But this painting was done for her (and Dad too) but she loves tulips, pink, and flora in general. This was done after three weeks and I can’t wait to see her face!

This is a pbn! My affiliate (my paint by numbers) sells these…this one is quite simply ‘pink tulips’. Isn’t it lovely?

Just had to share.

To set the stage: (spoiler alert)!!! In the first book, Robert and Phillip break up and David and Andrew break up.

Last week David saw the brief note from Andrew saying goodbye. This is the last part of the opening scene:

It was all too clear now. Andrew was gone, as was Andrea. He shook his head, unwilling to believe this was the end! David darted from room to room and saw that all of Andrew and Andrea’s belongings were gone too. It was, indeed, over. David clenched his jaw tightly as he crumpled the note in his hand. His knees buckled and he crumpled to the floor, sitting like a stunned animal. His eyes watered, but he angrily wiped the tears away. It was a feeble effort; they kept refilling.

“You… prick! You…”

David grabbed his cell phone and began to dial, but his thumb hovered above the “send” button. His hand shook as he stared at the number. Finally, he hit “cancel”. What am I gonna do? Yell at him? Threaten him? Beg him to come back?  He leaned back and shut his eyes, his mind a whirlwind of memories from the past few months. All the sex, the dinners, the fun with little Andrea in the backyard. All dissolved right before his eyes. What the hell went wrong? It has to be Phillip! Dammit! He went back home to his precious Philly. How nice of him to leave me in the damn dust!

David slowly opened the hand which held the ring, and let it fall to the floor. He gritted his teeth as a wave of anger swept over him like a tsunami, and he hurled the crumpled note furiously into the living room. It landed on the love seat. The same love seat where Andrew had sat in a dazed stupor for hours on the night he and his husband Phillip had broken up. It was also the place where little Andrea would sit during movie night, and where David and Andrew would make out before heading back to their bedroom. Now, it was all just a memory…

You should be your biggest competition

Definitely true!

advicesbyher

You will never find happiness or contentment as long as you are competing and constantly comparing yourself to others. You should become your biggest competition, take that energy to focus on making yourself happy and trying to be the best version of yourself!

Why Do You Write?

I’ve wanted to be a full-time author for as long as I can remember. Working a 9-to-5 for me has been hit and miss; but the writing is always there.

A Writer's Path

by Kate Colby

If you’re reading this, I assume you want to be or already are a writer. I also assume that there’s a decent chance you want to be a full-time author. So, if that’s you, let me ask you two difficult questions: Why do you write? And why do you want to be a full-time author, when there are hundreds of easier career options?

Become your own coach

I have a mentor that asked me to do the same thing. Turn the perspective around.

Song of the Heart

A coach is someone who helps a coachee to find the answer or a solution of his own problem. So the task of a coach is to ask the right questions to the coachee. The coachee then tries to find his own answer for the situation or problem he has. A coach doesn’t give a solution. A coach doesn’t provide advice. A coach doesn’t share experience. A coach’s focus is on the coachee.

If you can spend enough time to talk to yourself, you will become your own coach. Learn to ask the right questions to yourself. Learn to listen to your own inner voice. Deep within yourself, you already know the answer for your problem. There is a reservoir of wisdom inside you. The wise self always knows the way. She will guide you to the right path.

Many people do not do this. Many people easily talk to…
