Civil War

I said three years ago we are headed this way unless we Find common ground and sense again.

In my life, I recently had someone mention some statistic, a poll, about a percentage of people that believe my country is on the verge of a civil war. Though I was not part of the poll, I consider myself to be one of those people. This opinion piece, I think, does a great job of explaining why that is, and of the differences between the sides that will be engaged in the conflict. Right now, having read the piece has made me concerned about the future and, like Guns N’ Roses, wonder what is so civil about war anyways.

On dreams and hope — Cristian Mihai

“Hold fast to dreams, For if dreams die Life is a broken-winged bird, That cannot fly.” ― Langston Hughes Hope. Man’s greatest weakness and greatest strength. The fuel that ignites men’s dreams. Without hope, all that we could be would come crumbling down. For so many of us, it is hope that wakes us up […]

Rainbow Snippets December 29th

Where did 2018 go? The first part of this year was slower than a snail in frozen molasses. The second half? Flew by!  In just a couple of days we’ll be welcoming in 2019. I hope it’s a fair sight better than the old year.

I’m posting again from This Time Around (which is a rework of Refugees which is the sequel to For the Heart of Phillip). Drama was everywhere in the first book; but it’s been tamed in this volume, which follows Robert and David’s journey after things didn’t go as planned in book one.

FYI: The scene from last week mentions Robert’s father, Mark, had gone after Phillip.  This scene is played out in the book prior to this, For the Heart of Phillip.

This book is now available only at  Amazon

What is Rainbow Snippets? It’s a group of LGBT+ authors who post six sentences (or more) from a current WIP, published work or even something they’ve read that they want to rave about. Click on the link below the rainbow to be transported to a place of wonder where you will find tasters of everything from sweet romance, to hot and steamy, to fantasy and sci-fi.

To set the stage: (spoiler alert)!!! In the first book, Robert and Phillip break up and David and Andrew break up.

We continue this week with the focus on Robert and what he does after he left Phillip:

Robert and Cassie sat in Robert’s old room together. She held him while he sobbed and spoke of what might’ve been with the man he’d hoped would be the love of his life. He also told her of how guilty he felt for what he’d done to Cleve.

Cassie calmed her son—she merely held him and listened, as they waited patiently for Mark to come to his senses and return home.

A tense hour went by while they waited. They knew he had quite the temper and had a tendency to be a complete control freak. Cassie wrung her hands constantly with worry. He noticed and grabbed them.

“Mom, relax. He won’t hurt anyone. He’s probably just really mad that Phillip didn’t keep his promise. To me or to him. I’m sure he’ll be back shortly.”

This book is now available only at  Amazon

Merry Christmas!

To everyone! I’ll be offline for the next few days so I can rest, recharge, and enjoy the heck out of family and friends. Plus give my kitty cuddles so much he won’t have a thought to miss mommy once I’m back to work.

Have a joyous season!

Steph

How did December go by so fast? Goodness! I know…by working my tail off during the day and resting as much as possible at night. LOL  I’m pretty ready for the holidays…I have family coming in and my best friend is coming over too. Time to roll out that welcome mat

Voltron is done :(

No spoilers here, but I teased myself a lot and read the spoilers ahead of time (I hate surprises).

Let’s just say that I was still shocked at how emotional I got when the end came! I heard of this anime a year ago and was sucked into it faster than a speck of light to a black hole. And never came out again.

I’m a Voltron LD fan for good…despite the fandom (which at times) is a bit toooo crazed. (petitions anyone)? It’s still a cartoon. Let’s keep things in perspective, shall we?

I’m still hoping for a sequel…Coran’s early life? Shiro’s new life? What happens to the Lions and the Garrison now?

Hubby and I are seeking out new anime to binge-watch of the same caliber as this show…any suggestions?

Reacting to Feedback

I’ve gotten so much better with this in the past few years; I admit to being quite awful at receiving negative feedback.

Author Don Massenzio

Multi Ethnic People Holding The Word FeedbackAs you dive into the world of self-publishing, one of the biggest fears that you must overcome is the reaction that you will get from those that read your work. For me, I had written a short story and kept it to myself for months before I finally shared it with my wife. I knew I could count on her for honest feedback. I knew she was aware of my writing ability from many of the business and personal documents I had either written or helped her with at home. Also, when I was an independent consultant, she often proofed the documents I produced.

This was different, however. I had invented my own story with characters, settings, and emotions. If she hated it, I would have probably quit going down this path. Luckily, she liked it and I continued on and gradually expanded the circle of people that I let read…
