Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

A reader was confused.

After reading a persuasive blog post about the value of Pinterest, he inquired of the writer, “Is it possible for authors to use Pinterest to get attention to their writing.

I only have one word for this reader and anyone else wondering.

Absolutely!

The answer for writers looking to use Pinterest to grow their audiences is simple—use Pinterest bulletin boards to get interest in snippets of your writing.

How to Use Pinterest Boards to Create Interest in Your Writing

The diagram below shows a basic plot structure. If you make a Pinterest board for each element of your…

Writing Tips: Writing Beyond The 5 Senses – by Gila Green…

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

on The creative Penn:

Writers are told to ‘show not tell’ almost as frequently as they’re told to ‘write every day.’ In today’s article, Gila Green explains how to go further than just our basic senses.

The most useful way to show what you want to say is to tap into the five senses: touch, taste, smell, sight, and hearing and get into the ‘why’ behind each sense.

In other words, you must ask yourself why does that particular character notice the hot waiter in the restaurant, while the other only smells the overuse of bleach in the room, while still, a third can’t drown out the exacerbating pop music in the background?

Once you can answer that question, you can show your readers what they need to know about each character. You simply choose the correct sense you need to get that information across to your readers.

If you…

Time Management for Bloggers — The Art of Blogging

It seems to me that time is one of the main things that keeps you from getting things done. Or, should I say, the inability to find enough of it. Do you have enough time to blog? These pointers will help you begin the process of regaining control of your time.

Constant Evolving

Interesting! I think…the AI will help and have androids talk to you in your chosen voice or tone, or wear a special headband where a ‘movie’ of the book plays out in front of your eyes. As for illiteracy…have dedicated volunteer outreach to homeless and social workers?

The Write Nook

Reading a collection of words, more commonly known as reading books, has been the oldest form of entertainment for the privileged. As time has gone on and reading has become necessary and accessible to more…and let’s be honest here, illiteracy is an issue and we should acknowledge that…we want to ask the question: what’s next?

technology.gif

We have traditionally-printed novels, in the masses. There are eBooks, in the millions, for those who like to read on the run. The technology which has given us audiobooks makes it easier for those just as busy to listen and work, not losing out on the art of reading. Visual storytelling, choose-your-own adventure stories, Kindle in Motion…the list goes on!

But what technology is on the current rise? What can inspire the next generation of readers – to keep the act of reading alive?

Do you see yourself creating a robot, or purchasing one…

Rainbow Snippets February 2nd

[image error]Rainbow snippets FB page

Hello all! Wow, Groundhog Day so soon? When did the year speed up? I’ve been deep in the throes of nursing duty for my hubby (and kitty when he needs help) but things are bettering and therefore…here I am.

What is Rainbow Snippets? It’s a group of LGBT+ authors who post six sentences (or more) from a current WIP, published work or even something they’ve read that they want to rave about. Click on the link below the rainbow to be transported to a place of wonder where you will find tasters of everything from sweet romance, to hot and steamy, to fantasy and sci-fi.

This week I’m posting from one of my first books: For the Heart of Phillip.  First written in 2006 and redone into it’s current format in 2010.

Blurb: Get ready for a wild, sexy ride! Follow along 13 arduous, confusing, wonderful years of Phillip’s life as he tries to decide on his love for two men. Phillip is socially awkward, depressed, a big guy for his age, and finds making friends difficult. Luckily, he meets Andy, who is two years younger than he is. They are best friends and together all the time. On a family vacation when he’s 16, Phillip meets Robert and the two form a fledgling relationship. All is great until Phillip comes homes and finds out a secret that Andrew had hidden for years; that he wants to be Phillip’s man and to dump Robert. Hence begins a push and pull, back and forth for years to come as the two fight over the man they love, Phillip. Both men will stop at nothing to keep him. Who will win the heart of Phillip? Come along for this ride and find out!

“Damn it’s hot out,” 12-year-old Phillip Marnier said to himself walking outside for the first time that Sunday. Opting for a heavyweight blue and white football jersey and long, baggy blue jeans, he was hardly dressed for the 94 degree weather. It was the first time he’d left the house that Saturday. Phillip didn’t want to leave, but his mother, Dani, had insisted he “get some fresh air”. She hated that he spent most of his days in his room, alone, and Phillip wondered how a hot, humid summer day was considered helpful.
