Down to the wire!
Wow...Christmas is nearly here! Every day I ask my husband what day it is and I still cannot fathom that it's the 17th and there are only 8 days left!
Time has slowed considerably since I left my job on the 3rd. In fact, these past two weeks have felt longer than the four months preceding them. I'm sure it's because I'm no longer rushed trying to work, get home, attempt to relax, eat, then do homework, and maybe eek out some writing while I'm at it.
Now, the days drag on a bit. When I finally wake up (2-3 hours later than I used to) I eat at a much more leisurely pace, then check email, play games, and do all those little fill-in-the-space things we tend to let slide.
Now, with Christmas on our doorstep, I finally kicked things into gear. I wrapped what few presents I could afford two weeks ago, and finally get a tiny something for my precious nephews. I have very little to give this year; it has been an arduous one for sure.
Still, I feel blessed that I'm basically healthy, fit, and able to write and skate and do the things I love with the people I love.
So, to everyone out there, have a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Joyous New Year!

Turkey Talk
Actually, they are 1/3 over with already if you count Thanksgiving as the official start.
Mine was pretty good this year; went over to my parent's house and saw my brother and nephews. I love that both of them love to shoot pool almost as much as I do! I beat both nephew and brother :) Sweet! Dinner was chicken, not the usual fare, but very tasty! Tried sweet potatoes for the 1st time, mixed them in with regular russets. Yum!
Pumpkin pie of course was what I was waiting for and was not disappointed.
Next, was the visit to the in-laws. We just missed his niece and nephews (all adults now) by mere minutes, but had a sizeable crowd left to chat with, including his sisters, father, and aunt. We sat and ate some more, and talked for a while. Things were difficult given the interruption of the television in the background (a huge pet peeve of mine to have it on and no one really watching it)
But it was on anyway.
Oh, one funny thing, I'd saved a slice of their pumpkin pie for home, but didn't wrap it properly! I'd put it on my coat (on the floor) and it slid out, onto the carpet! Oh joy...won't be eating that pie. Mrs. Smiths anyone?
Overall, it was a fairly enjoyable holiday. The weather was snowy and cold, perfect for a holiday mood. I turned on the gas fireplace at their house and basked in its glowing embers.

Too much on my plate!
Course, it is that time, isn't it? To put way too much on our plates and stuff our faces full of turkey and stuffing?
I love Thanksgiving, always have! It's not so much the food, it's family and friends that I get to see on that all-too-rare occasions.
I remember the year I was 12 (ages ago) where we had over 20 people stacked into the front part of my parents' home! It was a terrific time! I haven't seen many of those people in the years since...died or moved away, or some other cause.
I'm still writing, but work and homework are taking far too much effort at the moment. Next week, with several days off, I shall once again return to my labors of love though. March I have "Life After Math" coming out and I'm working on a few others...
How about you? Are you overstuffed on life, overwhelmed by the holidays and life and work and everything else?
Come on over and we'll discuss it over pumpkin pie...:)
Happy Turkey Day!!

Finally!
I decided to bite the bullet again and signed a contract with Silver Publishing (helps when you know the owner and like the terms too)!
They will publish "Life After Math", a sequel to my paperback book "Love by the Numbers"!
It will have an early spring release.
I'm so stoked!!! I feel like I'm finally getting somewhere and got accepted by someone good this time! (and won't have to do it all by myself, I haven't the time)!
Happy dance!!!

Just in time for Christmas...
My last book I'll release this year will be one entitled "Bernard".
It's a tale of a man named Bernard Covington, who's 46 yrs old, a bellhop, he's overweight, a virgin, and has never found love. His mother wants his to get married and have kids, and his sister just outright ignores him!
It all compounds on him one night and he attempts suicide! Luckily, a very caring Dr. named Jack Larson is there to pick up the pieces; but can he help in more ways than one?
Is it the beginning of a flawless romance, or the pretty coverup for a messed up young doctor who's hiding his own issues?

Taking an unofficial poll...
As to which is better:
The original Ranch Hands with the gruff Sid and the like...
OR
The new Ranch Hands Reharvested...with a kindler, gentler Sid, and no repeating scene...and more believable?

New opportunity for me!
Well, it's finally over! My unemployed self will officially be working again tomorrow; yay!
Not that I don't love sitting around here listening to the thunderous running of the small child living above us, or watching the neighbors walk their dogs, or whatever else...I'm looking forward to returning to work.
Wish me luck! It's a 3-month gig but I hope I'll really shine and be able to stay there for a VERY long time!
