My favorite ways to drown out negative thoughts

Negative thoughts plague everyone.

Maybe it’s something someone said to you (You look like the Wicked Witch of the West!) … or a limiting belief you have about yourself (I can’t do that) … or a habit of being harder on yourself than you should (come on, you can do better than that!)…

It’s so important to drown out negative thoughts like these so they don’t rule your world.

My favorite ways are to pray, listen to upbeat, positive music, and read inspiring books.

And my absolute MOST FAVORITE way is to work with affirmations. In fact, I select a new affirmation each week and write it down 25 times per day.

My top 3 affirmations right now are:

> I know who I am when I love myself unconditionally.
> I’m worthy of the best that love and life have to offer.
> I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

What helps you overcome self-doubt?

What makes an author business have legs?

Your books will come & go. However, if you want them to last, build a brand that lifts them up. Think Stephen King, Seth Godin, and Carl Sagan. Love them or not, they all have strong brands that bring them sales of both past and present titles alike. Want help? Message me.

How would this feel?

In the comments, give me ONE emoji that would sum up the following:

👉 How would you feel if you never had to wonder if an opportunity or idea for a book or offer was right for your business ever again?

👉 What if deciding what to write your next book about was just easy?

👉 What if you never had to worry about whether you were making the right business choices anymore?

Drop that emoji and tell me how it would feel!

And PS - You know that is one of the things I help people do, right?

Give power to the solution, not the problem

Some people can see every problem, but they don’t look for the solution.

The problem is that if you only focus on obstacles—like not having enough time or money—you won't see the opportunities available for getting around the limitations and reaching your dreams anyway.

What if you focus on the time you DO have instead? If you made a list of everything you CAN get done with a small budget?

There's always a solution if you look for it!

The World Needs Your Light

Someone less than half my age made me realize one of life’s important lessons.

The year was 2016, and I was in a rehabilitation facility re-learning to walk after being hit by a car. It was a terrible accident, and it is a miracle I’m here today.

At the time, my husband and Facebook were my lifelines. I would post each day musings, accomplishments, and thoughts. Quite a few people were following my journey, including someone I went to high school with … and his son.

His son was having a hard time at school but watching my tenacity and my relentlessly cup-half-overflowing attitude as it unfolded on Facebook, he was encouraged to follow his dreams and be his authentic self.

When I learned that by just being me I had inspired someone else to be true to themselves, I realized that all the work I had done to be that person, to own my me-ness and fearlessly share my spark with the world (rather than hide it), wasn’t just for me. It was for all who came across my path, too.

When you own your light, you give others the permission to own their light, as well.

So, keep on shining, the world needs your light.

How to Develop Lasting Relationships with Readers

Having clarity on who you are as an author makes it easier for readers to recognize and connect with you in a meaningful way. When people know what drives and motivates an author’s work, they often become more invested in their success. Your author brand helps you express yourself authentically, which, in turn, allows readers to trust that they are getting what they expect each time they purchase one of your books. Author Branding Myth #2: Authors Don’t Need Branding

Whether you like it or not, you have a brand. Your books create a brand. Therefore, it is important to be conscious in the creation of that brand or it might communicate a message that you don’t intend.

Sheila Gained Clarity for Her Brand

I love helping my clients lay down the foundations of a successful author’s journey! Here’s what Sheila Hawkins had to say about the Author Branding Bootcamp:

“Author Branding is by far the only way to develop your brand in a way that allows you to move forward with a solid brand that makes things easier. Prior to the workshop I was in need of updating my brand and going through this process brought me clarity, helped me pinpoint and develop my brand elements. Carma's process brings out who you are, what you stand for and lets you see yourself in your brand then serves you moving forward. I now have something solid that will keep me in line with my brand promise.”

If you’d like to learn more about how I can help you lock down your Author Brand, DM me.
