What you focus on expands
“It’s a funny thing about life, once you begin to take note of the things you are grateful for, you begin to lose sight of the things that you lack.”
~ Germany Kent
What you focus on expands. So why not focus on the blessings in your life?

Is your cup half empty or half overflowing?
I don’t know about you, but 2022 was rather rough. And so, I could be the pessimist ensuring that I see this year out the door.
But I’m not.
I’m really excited about what I will be doing in my business next year. I’m working with a small cadre of mentors. I’m working on my next book. I’m brimming over with hope for 2023 being a year of prosperity and working with amazing clients.
How about you?

Publishing is a business
If you want to grow your business with a book, you have to think not only of the artistry of the writing but also of the strategy of using the art to attract clients. You can make money from the book, but that’s not the point. It’s the money you make because of your book that matters.
This means you need to be tenacious in your marketing. It means you need to be strategic in choosing the topic, the content, the cover, and the messaging. It means you need to understand your return on investment of time and money as it applies to your book.
In my experience, it is the authors who have that combination of stick-to-it-tive-ness and courage to experiment that get the most mileage out of their books. The others usually give up when they are close to breaking through.

Are you putting the cart before the horse?
Are you putting the cart before the horse when it comes to your books?
So many authors put off branding until after they’ve written their books. However, this approach makes the whole process so much harder.
When you are clear on your brand, most especially your brand promise, everything else in your business–including which books to write and how to market them–becomes easier.
Why push the wrong cart (book) around the mud (unclear brand) when you can gallop along a paved road, your horse (your clear brand) pulling you, your book, and your business merrily forward?
If you would like some clarity around your author brand, message me.

Write from the heart
“Write from the heart. A book without a pulse is like a person without a spirit.”
~ Linda Radke
One of the four pillars of a book that effectively markets your business is “Peerless.” This pillar identifies how your book is different from others in its niche. If you’d like to learn more about this pillar and the other three, message me. I’ll send you a link to a video that explains them.

Pope Francis on the Gift of Christmas

Bob Hope Wisdom for the Season
Bob Hope said: “When we recall Christmas past, we usually find that the simplest things, not the great occasions, give off the greatest glow of happiness.”
May your holidays be filled with glowing moments to be remembered for years to come.

Don’t grieve what you don’t have
“He is a wise man who does not grieve for the things which he has not, but rejoices for those which he has.”
~ Epictetus
Sometimes it is hard not to grieve that which you don't have, however when you focus on what you do with gratitude, you'll be surprised how things show up for you that you weren't expecting.
