5 principles I live by
There are five principles I live by. They form the C.A.R.M.A. Code, and I believe they are the keys to living a good life. I spoke about them at an event a couple of years back. You can watch my presentation on VoiceAmerica here: https://www.voiceamerica.tv/media/unl...

Action
One of the keys of life, the Law of Attraction, and pretty much anything you might want to accomplish in any endeavor, is Action.
🚀 Without taking action, nothing happens. (Yeah, I know Captain Obvious.)
So my question to you is: Are you letting life happen to you? Or are you happening to life?

Best and worst...
“It was the best of times. It was the worst of times…” Imagine if Charles Dickens was talking about being an author with that phrase!
What do you think are the best and worst things about being an author and writing a book?

Who is this Carma person?
Just in case you’re wondering who this Carma person is showing up in in your feed, here are 3 possibly interesting facts you may not know about me:
🍪 I baked my first cookie when I was about 3 or 4 years old. It was a sugar cookie with M&Ms on top of it. I have pictures of it somewhere and I can still remember what it tasted like. Yum!
🟦 Although most people think my favorite color is purple because that tends to be the color I brand under, my favorite color is in fact lapis or electric blue.
🧶 I enjoy doing latch hook rug kits, although I have no idea what to do with the results after I’m done! I just find the process calming and its something I can do while watching TV so I don’t get fidgety.
Now its your turn! What’s a little known fact about you? I’d love to get to know you a little better!

3 Mistakes Authors Make with Their Websites
3 Mistakes Authors Make with Their Websites:
1. Lackluster, unprofessional, and lazy visual design. I know you aren’t supposed to judge a book by its cover, but I hate to break this to you, but people do anyway. If your website doesn’t look nice, visitors will click away no matter how awesome your content may be.
2. Messy, frustrating, and confusing navigation. Make it easy for your visitors to find what they want, especially if you mentioned it in your book! I’ve lost count of how many times a book referred me to a website and I had to search and search and *search* for the promised information.
3. Focusing on themselves rather than on their readers. There is a delicate balance to creating copy for an author website that gives readers what they want while showcasing the author. Alas, too many authors shine too much of the spotlight on themselves. And, if they don’t do that, they don’t shine the light on themselves at all, which doesn’t work either.
Fix these three things and you’ll see a marked improvement in your website’s conversions both in growing your email list and in book sales.

Lemonade anyone?
No matter what life throws at you, there are blessings to be found.
You can make lemon chiffon pie out of any lemon the world throws your way if you but try. And, I’ve found that the more you look for the lemon bars, and lemon parfaits, and lemonades of life, the fewer lemons (or at least the less sour ones) you get and the more sweets of life you get.
In other words, the more you appreciate what you have in life, the more you have to appreciate in the first place.
Stick that on your chair and sit on it. :-)

Which would you choose?
Which would you choose?
A: Your book made into a blockbuster movie, but they change it so that it really isn’t all that much like your original book
B: Your book made into an indie film that’s critically acclaimed, follows your book fairly well, but not many people actually see it
