What do they have in common?
What do Macaulay Culkin, Chris Pine, Melissa McCarthy, Mother Teresa, Prince Albert (husband of Queen Victoria), and Shirley Manson (lead singer of Garbage) have in common?
They all share my birthday, which is today!

Book Recommendations: Book Writing
I'm often asked what books I would recommend reading about writing, publishing, and marketing books. For the next three "me only" episodes of "The Author's Switch," I'm going to share my answer to that question. In this month's episode, I'm sharing books that have helped me write better books. You might be surprised by my choices. Listen or watch here:

Author Marketing Tip: Whitespace
Would you like to improve your book sales? Incorporate whitespace into your book description using bullets and smaller paragraphs. Whitespace is a crucial component of successful website design. It creates balance and reduces clutter and distraction. It can also, when used strategically, increase conversions.

Be kind anyway
To get along in this world, kindness goes such a long way. I firmly believe that being kind will make the world a better place. You don’t have to like the people you’re kind to. And yes, kindness can get you into a little bit of trouble now and then. Sometimes your kindness will be met with less than kindness, maybe the antithesis of kindness. Be kind anyway. #BeKindToHumankindWeek

Make an author happy today!
As you probably know, I recently released the second edition of Home Sweet Home Page. I was even able to take it to #1 in three categories!
Did you know that Amazon customer reviews are a powerful motivator to get other people to buy my books?
If you've purchased and read my book, it would thrill me to no end if you clicked on the link below and left a review on Amazon's website.
It only takes a few minutes to post a couple of sentences that sum up your thoughts. Your help would be greatly appreciated!
To make it easy for you, I've provided a direct link below.
https://amzn.to/3iXZKQL
I'm thinking of offering a free Q&A or topical webinar to anyone who leaves a review. If I did that, is there a topic you'd love me to cover? Or a question you're dying to know the answer to? Simply reply to this post with your ideas or questions. If there is enough interest, I'll set it up!

Bad Poetry Day
In honor of #BadPoetryDay, I thought I'd share some of my own cheesy work ... literally:
Ah, the joy of brie,
so good with a cup of tea
the flavor so smokey
…on toast? How hokey!
Yes, that’s the cheese for me!
Want more? http://www.carmaspencewriter.com/chee...

National Friendship Week
How many times did I meet a fellow geek and not get that "you too?" feeling? I've lost count.
And then I met my husband. He geeked in just the right way and a special kind of friendship blossomed that has served us well. Not that many marriages have been as blissful being cooped up together during a lengthy pandemic!
During #NationalFriendshipWeek I think we all should take a look at the friendships we've forged over the years -- the new ones, the old ones, the ones we've kept, the ones we've let pass us by -- and be grateful for the many blessings they have brought us.
It doesn't matter how long the friendship lasts, just that it happened at all.
