Forget the Milk and the Bread…
We’re getting ready for yet another winter storm to roll its way into our area late tonight. This winter, as it has been everywhere, has been downright awful and I can’t wait for spring to finally rear its head.
Today, in advance of the storm, I’m aiming to run into the grocery store for…not milk…not bread…but the ingredients to make a gooey butter cake.
Because, in my house, “snow day” means “bake day” and a gooey butter cake is sounding really good.
So how about you? When you know there’s a...

My Childhood Library
I’ve got a fun book-related question for all of you.
Tell me some of your earliest library memories…
Me? I can remember the sound of the front door, the layout of the library (which I haven’t been in since I was eight), and even the smell. And I remember the utter excitement at seeing all those books on the shelves and wanting to read every last one in the children’s room (unless, of course, they were about something silly like trucks or dinosaurs ).
Sadly, I went to pull up a photo of this lib...
What Do You Do?
I’m curious.
What are your tried and true pick-me-up techniques when you’re having a low day, or dealing with a situation with limited recourse?
Do you read? Watch a movie? Walk? Call a special someone? What?

Bits, Bits
It’s time for Bits & Pieces–entertainment style!
1) Do you (or have you ever) play any musical instruments? What?
2) What was the first professional sporting event you ever went to?
3) Were you ever on TV or in the newspaper? Which and why?
4) What one book can you read over and over again?
5) What song reminds you of your childhood (or, if you prefer, reminds you of your own child’s babyhood)?

Take That, Snow!
While I think snow has its fun moments (like a surprise snow day and all the baking it brings), I have to say “enough is enough” this year.
As in, let’s wave the white flag (although, the likelihood anyone would see it in all this snow is slim to none).
Since they can’t see my flag, the forecasters are eyeballing another storm for this weekend (this, as the snow that started falling at 1 a.m. is now changing to sleet). Today’s shoveling will be awful thanks to the volume of snow and all the ice...

Your “Must Visit”
If you ask people what’s on their bucket lists, you are virtually guaranteed at least one entry that has them going somewhere–stateside or overseas.
Me, I want to see the Grand Tetons (I don’t know why, I just do).
So how about you? What are some of the must-visit-one-days on your list?

Torturous Goodness
When I was a little girl, my favorite dinner (hands down) was my mom’s “pot roast and noodles.”
Because of the way she made it, it spent a full two hours in the oven…with the tantalizing (a.k.a. torturous when you’re little and it’s your favorite) smell pretty hard to ignore within the first thirty minutes.
Now that I’m older, I still like it (I make it the exact same way), but I can now handle the smell with a bit more patience(most of the time).
A funny side story here is that my oldest con...
