Caption This

One of the things I get a kick out of doing (in my head, if nothing else) is captioning photographs. Sometimes, the ones that come to mind are silly, sometimes not, but I always have a good time doing it.

So that’s what I thought we could do today for “Writing Thursday.”

Here are 3 pictures. Give us a caption for each one!

Boo-Boo Sharing

This morning I’m thinking about stitches. As in the stitches my doctor will be taking out of my foot in a few hours.

Prior to this event, the only other time I had stitches was when I was five and I got hit in the head with a doorknob and when I was eleven and had an appendectomy. I don’t remember much about those stiches going in, let alone coming out (a fortune I don’t think I’ll have this time around).

So how about you? Any stitches along the way?

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggity Jig

Sorry about the lack of a post yesterday. I was flying from California to New York and the time difference, coupled with the get-to-the-airport thing, kind of pushed the blog from my thoughts.

I was in Monterey for Left Coast Crime (a reader conference) the past few days and had a really nice time. I sat on two panels (one about writing multiple series and the other about writing murder off page) and got to meet up with some fellow “cozy” writers at the banquet on Saturday night.

Aside from tha...

Bits & Pieces and A Guess

In addition to our usual Friday Bits & Pieces, I’m adding another picture to yesterday’s “Guess where I am.”

This little guy was swimming around under a dock all by himself. His nose was a little banged up, but if it bothered him, he didn’t let on. He was having too much time eating what looked to be muscles as he floated on his back.

In case you can’t quite make out what he is, he’s a sea otter in the wild and oh so very cute!!

Any more guesses on where I am?

Okay, that was Bits & Pieces questi...

Where In the World Am I?

Guess where I am!

I’ll try to post another clue tomorrow (but it might be a bit late, like today)!

And for those of you who frequent this blog, you know by now these are my favorite animal. Though, I usually gawk at them at the zoo. Here they’re just on a party barge in the wild.

Travels

Today’s post is short and sweet. I’ve asked, in the past, where you’d most like to travel. Today, I want to know 1) what your best road trip was (and to where), and 2) what’s the most beautiful place you’ve been to in the United States (so far).

On My Nightstand

I spent most of yesterday reading through TAKEN IN (the next Sewing Circle Mystery due out in August). Since I turned in that book in early fall, I’ve written two more books–one of which is the book after TAKEN IN. It was fun to sit down with the Sweet Briar crew and simply read them and I found myself falling in love with them all over again (a good sign).

Today, though, TAKEN IN is back to my editor and I’m left with a 6 week chunk of time between now andwhen I need to start writingmy nextco...

A Fly On the Wall

I had an interesting fly-on-the-wall experience over the weekend that really brought me back to my writing roots.

A friend and I presented a workshop at a writer’s conference in New Jersey. Our workshop was the first one of the morning and left me with a little chill time immediately following. I found a table to sit and people-watch for a little while as I waited for the next session I was interested in attending. It didn’t take long to realize that I was sitting near the “agent/editor pitch”...

Your Take?

Today’s Bits & Pieces is a bit different as it deals with actual events (both past and current):

1) What’s your theory on this missing plane?

2) Where were you when OJ was driving his bronco down the highway with the cops following him (as shown live at the time)?

3) News story from the past 5 years that unsettled you most?

Remote, Please

Heading out a little early to get some relatively minor (I hope) foot surgery done this morning. For the most part, I just have to stay off my foot today, which means the perfect opportunity to work on edits for TAKEN IN before I have to have them back in my editor’s hands on Monday.

Of course, at some point, I’ll probably nap, and maybe sneak in a little HGTV. :)

How about you? If you’ve got nothing else to do and you turn on the TV…what channel is your first choice?
