The Magic of Pictures
A few weeks ago, I asked my father if he could scan a handful of my baby/little girl pictures into the computer so I could use them, on occasion, for “Throwback Thursday” on Facebook (apparently this was a thing on Instagram but has been hijacked by the older Facebook users). He sent me some really cute pictures that I’ve had a lot of fun looking at ever since.
It’s a little surreal to look at a picture of myself as a baby because it’s hard to wrap my mind around the fact that was me. Yet I ha...

Love–Boxing Style
So, after watching Rocky I on Sunday night, we moved on to Rocky II last night. And what struck me this time (as opposed to whenever it was I saw it for the first time), is how much of this particular installment was a love story in many ways.
Yes, I just said that.
Rocky is crazy about Adrienne. And when he didn’t have her blessings to fight, he didn’t train well. He had no passion for it even though it was a huge part of who he is. Then, she slips into a coma after giving birth to their son...

Catching Up
Popping in a little late this morning but that’s what I get for staying up late watching Rocky 1.
I figured I’d do a little bit of an update today just because it seems like there’s always something new to report on the book front.
*I just got copy-edits for TAKEN IN (Southern Sewing Circle Mystery #9) in my inbox on Friday. So I’ll be spending today, tomorrow, and Wednesday reading through that story and making tweaks as necessary.
*I’m the Featured Mystery Author on the Barnes & Noble online...

Cool Bits
I tracked down some really good questions for this week. I can’t wait to see your answers!
Here we go…
1) What was your last encounter with wildlife?
2) What is your favorite road trip song?
3) What do you remember most about your grandfather?
4) What can a friend do that would make you feel special?
5) What is something from your life that you could see being in a museum?

Six Words
How about a writing prompt today?
For those of you who are new to the blog, we’ve had some fun with these in the past, so I hope you’ll give it a whirl.
Okay, this time I’m going to start you off with six words. Next person in the comments writes the next 6 words…person after that the next6, building on the previous “story” as you go…
This has the potential to be funny, sad, goofy, happy. And feel free to chime in as many times as you want throughout the day!
Ready?
Once upon a time there was…
Now,...

Awareness Starts Here
Nearly eight years ago, whilesitting at my desk in the wee hours of the morning,I had an intense pain roll through the left side of my head. It was short lived but it was strong. Since it was 2 a.m. or so, I figured it was my body’s way of saying it was time to go to bed.
The next morning, I headed to my favorite writing haunt at that time–Borders Books–and started to write. But I noticed, as I did, that the left side of my face felt numb. A call to my doctor’s office netted instructions to go...

The Big Day
I am thrilled to report thatSHUNNED AND DANGEROUS (the third book in my Amish Mysteries) officially hits bookstore shelves today!!
So here’s a little tease (followed by a request, of sorts):
Living in the small town of Heavenly, Pennsylvania, Claire Weatherly has come to admire the Amish for their wholesome, honest way of life. But she also knows that nothing is as simple as it seems—especially when murder disturbs the peace.
Claire has always been game for a good puzzle, so when she hears that...

Geeking Out
Now that my latest book has been turned in, I’m trying to catch up on all the little things that need to be done before I pop back in my writing hole again. One of the to-do’s on my list this week is re-organizing my office space. It’s not a room I use that often (especially in the winter as it’s downstairs), but there are certain work-related tasks that make that space necessary.
In addition to overall straightening, I need to get my filing up to dateand get all of my books organized, too.
To...

Bits O’ Done
I finished. Southern Sewing Circle # 10 has been handed off to my editor at Penguin.
Phew…
I suspect today’s round of Bits & Pieces will be rather telling of my frame of mind right now:
1) How do you reward yourself for a job well done?
2) I’m typing this question at 5 a.m. E.T. and I haven’t gone to sleep yet. When’s the last time you pulled an all-nighter?
3) Favorite holiday?
4) Favorite ice-cream flavor?

Part Of Me Knew
Well, I typed “The End” on Southern Sewing Circle Mystery # 10. Woot! Woot!
Now begins the process if edits, which, in this case, means making sure scenes I wrote early in the game match some of the later scenes (ie, when a serious plot twist came to me during a shower the other day and even Iwas taken by surprise).
In addition to making the book, itself, more fun, that plot twist also gave me a neat thing to talk about today.
When I give a book-related talk, one of my favorite questions readers...
