Early Bird?

Confession time.

Has anyone started their Christmas shopping yet? If not, when will you typically start?

Book Stuff

I have some book-related questions for all of you today.

Strangest place you’ve ever read a book? Favorite bookstore ever? How many books can (or have) you read at one time? If you could buy only ONE book for a small child, what would you buy and why?

Three Things

Wow, that was a fast weekend.

But since fast usually equates to busy, finding my “three things” to share from my weekend is pretty easy. So here goes…

I got a package of treats in the mail from a friend on Friday evening. And if you know anything about my love of candy corn, you’ll likely find the contents as amusing as I did…

DH and I went out to a movie Friday night. We saw Sully (I’m a huge Tom Hanks fan).

And, last but not least, my youngest is getting ready to turn eighteen in a few da...

Autumn Bits

In honor of the start of Fall, I thought some Autumn-related bits would be appropriate…free-autumn-clipart-0004

What one thing says Fall to you most? Favorite Fall treat? Favorite Fall activity? Favorite Fall color?

Enjoy your weekend, everyone!

That First Pull

Question time.

When you read a book, what pulls you in first–setting or characters?

LookALike

Today’s post is a two-part question.

Has anyone ever told you that you resemble a celebrity? If so, who? mirror

As for my answer to this, I have two:

While working in Borders in Missouri about 10 years ago, a customer insisted I looked just likea woman that is shown at the very end of Castaway (when Tom Hanksdelivers the Fed Ex package he never opened on the island).

And then, just the other day, while waiting at the airport for my flight to Atlanta, I was told I look like the mom (I think) on Back...

Reading By Osmosis

Since I was in NOLA over the weekend, I haven’t been to the gym. And since I haven’t been to the gym, I haven’t been reading.

So tell me what you’re reading so I can live vicariously through you…

Three Things

Sorry I missed Friday Bits this past week. I guess I got a little tied up at Bouchercon.

But I’m back, and focused, and ready to get back to work. As for my “Three Things” from the weekend, here we go…

One of the highlights of this year’s Bouchercon was the Second Line Parade that preceded the Anthony Awards. According to Wikipedia,Second Line Parade “is a tradition in brass band parades in New Orleans, Louisiana. The “main line” or “first line” is the main section of the parade, or the membe...

Postcard From The Road

Hello from NOLA and this year’s Bouchercon Mystery Conference.

Lots of fun stuff on tap today including a librarian tea, a meeting with my agent, 2 publisher cocktail parties, and maybe even a little bit of writing.

I’ll be taking pictures along the way and might just share some here.

Like this one from last night…

What I’m Reading…

bookbookmarkI startedHarlan Coben’s LIVE WIRE at the gym this morning. The previous book in the series had me on the elliptical for 65 minutes (I’m normally 30-40 mins) as I was nearing the end.

That’s a good sign. Trust me.

What are you reading?
