Chicken with Mushrooms and Artichokes

TPW_4383This is the second of two chicken-centered pantry meals I made last week after discovering a slew of chicken legs that were close to their expiration date. Any chicken pieces can be substituted—I actually love thighs the best—and you can throw in whatever other ingredients sound good.

Your pantry is your oyster!

Wait…what?

TPW_4294Okay, so this isn't technically a pantry meal. Not with fresh mushrooms and chives. And cream.

I suppose by "pantry meal", I meant "I didn't know what...

Seattle Foodbloggers (and Crockpot Winners)

TPW_4495Before I announce the Crockpot winners, and before I then go draw my curtains and attempt to go back to sleep after a very late night (will post about my Seattle signing on Confessions Monday) and a very early morning thanks to the Central Time Zone pumping through my veins, I want to show you a few photos from a small gathering I attended in Seattle yesterday.

TPW_4498I met up with about thirty foodbloggers/food writers in the Seattle area, and we chatted and swapped war stories and I tried w...

Crockpots and Cookbooks!

I have a foodblogging friend, Stephanie O'Dea, who's pretty much a Crockpot Wonder Woman. A while back, Stephanie started a website called Crockpot 365, where she chronicled an entire year of cooking in her much beloved Crockpot.

Stephanie then wrote a cookbook filled with all of her favorite slow cooker recipes:

makeitfast

There it is!

I need to stop for a moment to disclose—and I'm embarrassed to admit it—that I have never been a slowcooker…cook. I simply have never been in the habit of it...

Chicken with Tomatoes and Garlic

TPW_4361This is a pantry meal! Well, sorta. Yesterday afternoon, after surveying the state of my refrigerator, I realized I had a slew of chicken legs that were going to be skating dangerously close to expiring if I didn't act fast. After giving them a sniff and deeming them fit for human consumption, I decided to whip up two separate dishes using the chicken legs…and whatever I could find in my pantry and fridge.

Here's the first of the two dishes. It's delicious, garlicky, and easy as pie.

I...

The World's Gone Crazy

Every Tuesday, I post a step-by-step recipe on Tasty Kitchen—a recipe I've handpicked from the roughly 15,000 incredibly delicious recipes that have been submitted by so many of you over the past few months. In the time I've been posting this Tuesday series, I've shared a mushroom soup, cinnamon bun pancakes, a hot hamburger recipe from one of my favorite childhood restaurants, and several more.

And not one recipe I've shared has been low calorie.

Here's the complete archive of those...

Sloppy Joes

TPW_3778I used to be terrified of sloppy joes. It's true. When I was a little girl, I got it in my head that sloppy joes were demons, and that if I ate them I'd become possessed and die.

Okay, listen. I know that sounds crazy. But thanks to my best friend Becky, who was a strong Baptist, demon possession was among the largest of my childhood fears. Becky and I thought my parents' basement was possessed, she thought Vogue magazine was possessed, and I, in turn, came to believe sloppy joes—in all...

Petite Vanilla Bean Scones

TPW_3458When I went to the big city last week to attempt to get my hair colored Lucille Ball red, I stopped at Starbucks to buy three Venti half-caf cappuccinos—one to drink on the way home, one to drink that night, and another to put in the fridge and enjoy the next morning. I predict that one of these days I'll start buying dozens of cappuccinos at a time and freeze them so I can have Starbucks cappuccino 365 days a year. I keep trying to convince Starbucks that it would be so much easier if...

Grilled Cheese Sandwich Heaven (and Other Matters)

grilledcheese2If you love grilled cheese sandwiches like I do, if you're always trying to find interesting ingredients to stuff on a sandwich with melted cheese, if you wake up in the middle of the night licking your chops and gnawing on your knuckles after dreaming of grilled cheese ideas…

You need to read this post:

The Theme is…Grilled Cheese!

Included in the huge roundup of the best grilled cheeses is this one, which I posted a million years ago, and which I based on a sandwich at Queenie's, a...
