Mama Della's!
*Note: Le Creuset winners will be announced shortly!*
During our week in Orlando, my family and I ate in restaurants every day. This is always welcome for a mother of four.
Can you say "no dishes?" Total bliss.
Of all the places we ate, though, Mama Della's was my favorite.
It's a charming, homey, authentic Italian ristorante.
For those of you who don't know, ristorante is Russian for restaurant.
Aren't you glad you have me to explain these things to you?
Oh…it's Italian f...
Wieners
The wieners of the purple Le Creuset are:
#8824 Jeanne H: "The last one I went was a trip to Orlando with my sister and her husband to do the tourist thing with all the parks. It was nice to put my cynicism away for a few days and just enjoy myself."
#16046 Ray Ziemba: "Ski Trip to Keystone, CO!"
#34846 Cary: "Best vacation ever was a spring break road trip through the midwest with my two little kids, ages 7 and 3 at the time. We took our sweet time doing everything."
Congratulations...

Today
Today…
Because I'm in Florida…
Because I smell of sunblock, sweat, and Key limes…
Because in the past five days, my kids have met Wolverine, Spiderman, Captain America, Snow White, and a big, cranky T-Rex…
And because I love ya…
I'm giving away three (3) Le Creuset 7 1/2-Quart Round French Ovens, in this unbelievably cool and stylish "Cassis" color.
I love this color.
Love it very much.

Taco Time!
I'm traveling around the world today at EPCOT, making sure my offspring learn as much as they can as we make our way through all the different national pavilions. I'm thinking that the education they get today in the subjects of world geography, international studies, and cultural diversity can take the place of at least a few months of homeschooling. That'll free up their time so they can do more important and productive things, like rub my sore and now-partially-paralyzed feet, take over...

A Tasty Recipe: Granny's Chocolate Cobbler
I brought along another recipe to share with you during our Orlando vacation this week, but first I must share this recipe from Tasty Kitchen, which my buddy Amy prepared and photographed in such delicious detail, I actually cried when I first saw it.
Then I drooled. Then I grabbed the room service menu to see if anything even remotely resembled it, I wanted it so badly.
Alas, it was not to be. CURSE YOU, AMY! Some buddy you are.
The recipe is for—are you ready?—Chocolate Cobbler, of all...

Cinnamon Baked French Toast
This is a scrumptious make-ahead breakfast casserole that's so easy to prepare, it should be illegal. Leave it plain as the recipe dictates, or throw in blueberries or apple chunks to give it a little more dimension. And what I love about this dish is that you can decrease the cooking time a bit in order to result in a more moist bread pudding-like dish…or bake it a little longer to make the final product more crispy and "done."
Perfect for guests, kids, foreign dignitaries, heads of state...

The Best Pastries I've Ever Had
I'm in love with pastries, especially if they're in the form of homemade glazed doughnuts. Please make those at your earliest convenience. Thank you.
But when it comes to storebought or bakery pastries, for some reason I often find myself disappointed. I'm not sure why, but sometimes the muffins, croissants, and little cakes that look so delicious in the case somehow wind up falling short when it comes right down to gobbling them up. And while I never turn down a pastry of any kind, I...

Aunt Trish's Salad Dressing
I had a beautiful Aunt named Trish. She was married to my mother's brother.
Trish and her sisters were all nuns. Then they left the convent, got married, and had children.
Aunt Trish was the mother of my two cousins, Jonathan and Julie.
She died suddenly when Jonathan and Julie were very little. It was very sad. I was six or seven.
Trish left a legacy of kindness and goodness behind—as well as her exact likeness in her daugher Julie. She also left behind this salad dressing, which has...
