Obama's Speech at Mandela Memorial Ceremony

Thousands of South Africans and visitors gathered at the FNB stadium to pay tribute to former president Nelson Mandela,.Attendees included 91 heads of state, 10 former heads of state, 75 dignitaries and 86 delegations from various organisations. Obama gave an incredible moving speech, while President Jacob Zuma got booed. An editorial on the Times Live website says: "It is a pity that, on the day the world came together to pay homage to Nelson Mandela, large sections of the crowd at the official memorial service heckled and booed President Jacob Zuma. Not because our scandal-prone, often bumbling, president doesn't deserve it - he manifestly does… Yesterday was a day to celebrate a giant - and our president paid the price for failing to measure up."

Vote ANC

The ANC logo contains a spear and shield to represent the early wars of resistance to colonial rule, the armed struggle of the ANC`s former armed wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe, and the ANC`s ongoing struggle against racial privilege and oppression. The wheel dates back to the campaign for the Congress of the People, which adopted the Freedom Charter, and marks the joining in a common struggle for freedom people from all South Africa`s communities. It is a symbol of the strong non-racial traditions of the ANC. The fist holding the spear represents the power of a people united in struggle for freedom and equality. In Zapiro's cartoon, The Spear is replaced by the Showerhead. The shield are the e-tolls. The broken "wheel" represents the dispute with COSATU.  The Flag is repaced by Nkandla and the up yours finger shows present day attitude towards voters

Nkandla Report - Stop Go Attitudes

Cabinet has NOW ordered that an inter-ministerial task team report into the Nkandla controversy be released to the public. Initially all was done to stop the publication and distribution of the report. The mystery of the public protector’s investigation of the renovations to President Jacob Zuma’s homestead in Nkandla deepens. The National African Congress (ANC) stepped accused advocate Thuli Madonsela of leaking details of the provisional report to the Mail & Guardian. Madonsela has denied it. She wishes stick to her own schedule and publish the final result when she’s ready.
