Saturday Night Entertainment
First something to make sure you're paying attention;
And now that I know you're awake, some great music!
Sick Puppies are an amazing Australian band. If you go to Youtube, you can view the official videos for this song and ALL of their incredible songs. We've seen them live three times, and I'd go again in a heartbeat.
Happy Saturday Niiiiiiight!

Not So Old Fashioned Advice; What Did I Do Wrong?
The question pulled for this week's column really resonates with me, and I imagine it will for a lot of you, too.
I'll post my advice, but I'd love to see you guys add your thoughts, experiences, and advice to mine to help this teen out. And if you'd like to ask a question for a future column, just leave it in the Comments section of this post.
Remember; If you list yourself as Anonymous, no one will know who you are!
Dear MZ,
I have a good friend who suddenly stopped talking to me a few...

Open Mic! And Jennifer Brown!
It's time for another Open Mic, and this week, I have a surprise for youuuuu!
But first the details;
Same rules as always; 300-words or less of your original poem, short story, or novel excerpt. Comment at least one other piece if you post on yourself.
As usual, I will read and (try to) comment the pieces myself, giving you one piece of constructive advice should you ask for it (and truly want it).
This Open Mic is open for entries today through Sunday, after which I suggest you wait to post...

And no. I will not give you more of a hint!
Sheesh! Stop ASKING!

Modern Warfare Meets Twilight?
Something light-hearted for your Saturday! How awesome is this?!
Thanks to Jennifer Draeger, friend, artist, photographer, writer, music aficionado, and blogger extraordinaire at Potbellied Giraffe for being my ultimate source in great Youtube videos!
Also a quick thank you to the Mundie Moms for an incredible review of Prophecy (check them out to get my now-famous granola recipe!), to Barry Eva for hosting me on his awesome blog radio talk show, A Book and a Chat (you can still hear the show...

Not So Old Fashioned Advice
This week's question comes from a pre-teen who needs help! Please chime in with your advice!
Also, rather than creating a new entry for questions, I'm going to ask you to leave them in the comments section of this post. All questions left here will be added to the list of potential questions for next week's Not So Old Fashioned Advice column. Remember that you CAN remain anonymous if you type "Anonymous" in the "Name" section of the comments form. Just leave the email field blank.
As before...

Open Miiiiiiic!
Okay, guys, you know the drill.
Leave your 300-word poem, short story, or novel excerpt for comment, and then comment at least one other piece.
I also want to try something a little new this week. I've noticed quite a few of you are asking for constructive feedback. I've made a point to only praise the things I love about your work, because I understand (do I!) how difficult it can be to hear feedback, no matter how well intentioned.
That said, it's a fact that none of us can get better without...

It's a Sickness…
I've gone beyond the point where I troll for exclusively historical gowns. Now it's all about the pretty.
And doesn't this one fit the bill?
Black velvet and roses? If I could custom-design a modern gown to represent Prophecy, I think this might be it. Sigh. Let us just admire…
You can find it here on Bridalwave. Enjoy!
