Green Zone

Today's Kenneth and I went to see Green Zone for our Friday Matinee.

I have to confess that while I always look forward to my Friday movie with Kenneth, I figured this would be a predictable, action-packed war movie. That was partly because of the only trailer I'd seen for the movie, which was this one;

I was fine with it, because I love movies of all kinds, and I'm always happy to be entertained, even if the movie in question isn't necessarily a contender for an Oscar. But the movie really...

In Search of Simplicity

Today I'm going to do something I NEVER do. I'm going to recommend a non0fiction book.

Now, I don't have anything against non-fiction. It's just that I have less time than ever to actually read these days (oh, the cruel irony!) and I'm usually busy reading books for research, friends, and new ones put out by my publisher.

But ten years ago this book changed my life.

I know you're probably thinking, "That book is OLD! I'm not reading it!" That would be a mistake. Because this book is AMAZING...

Spoiled in Singapore!

Meet this week's Anonymous Teen Reader, Cool Cat! She lives in an exotic foreign country, loves to read fantasy, and thinks Beauty and the Beast is the BEST MOVIE OF ALL TIME.

:D

And how cute is this pic? (Shshshshshsh! I picked it because she forgot to send me one! But I think it fits her code name perfectly, don't you?)

P.S. If you'd like to be part of my Anonymous Teen Reader feature, send me an email on Facebook, Twitter (DM), or Myspace!

Happy Saturday Night!

Something nice and mellow for you guys tonight. This is my favorite version of this song, and my son's been listening to it for two days.

I totally have it stuck in my head, which in this case is a good thing.

Happy Saturday, everybody!

Friday Movie

As most of you know, there ae only two things my family loves as much as books and those two things are music and movies.

Well, we love each other MORE, but that's a different story!

Anyway, since my seventeen-year-old is homeschooled, we have a Friday tradition in which we grab something for lunch (he usually opts for Subway and I choose Panera) and smuggle it into a matinee. It's awesome because A) matinees are only $5 per ticket, B) I get to spend time with my son and dissect films, C) the t...

Thursday Night Write – and Cover Love!

Also, for those of you who weren't around for the excitement yesterday, the Prophecy paperback cover AND the Guardian of the Gate cover were both revealed at 10am on the Prophecy Community Site. It's been so gratifying to hear the overwhelmingly thrilled feedback! Almost everyone I've spoken to loves the new covers as much as I do, and even though I've heard a few readers lament that their series won't match (if they already have a hardcover), I really think this is going to be great for the ...

Coldplay, Africa, and Being Alone.

Today's Anonymous Teen Reader is code-named Kevin. I love her already because she adores Coldplay and would sing along to all the songs like we did when we saw them in concert and because she's always wanted to go to Africa. When I was in high school, all the girls wanted to go to Paris or Rome, but I was dying to go to Africa, India, and Egypt.

Kevin sounds like a fascinating person. I hope you enjoy getting to know her as much as I have!

It's Saturday Night!!!

I'm writing to you guys from Panera after being snowed in and without electricity for two days. I have no idea when we're getting our electricity back, but I didn't want to leave you guys stranded on a Saturday Night without something from me.

This one seems appropriate since I am DYING to show you guys the new Prophecy of the Sisters and Guardian of the Gate covers and won't be able to publicly squee until Wednesday at 10am when they're unveiled by Little Brown on the Prophecy community...
