Smile Power
When I was a little girl, my mother worked in a nursing home as the head nurse on the third floor. She cared deeply for her patients and went the extra mile to ensure they felt seen and heard.
I remember her bringing me to work to visit the residents with few or no visitors on several occasions. I only had to say hello and answer the same questions repeatedly.
How old are you? Five. What grade are you in? Kindergarten. And the other usual questions older people ask children.I asked Mom why I had to go visit these people. They were old and smelly and wrinkly and all kinds of scary. My mothers answer was powerful and has stuck with me throughout the past six decades.
Never again will you have the power to make someones day, to gladden their soul, just by walking in the room and saying hello.
And it was true. I saw lonely elders smile, sit up, lean in. They were hungry for contact and grateful for someone to talk with.
This week, I visited my mom in her assisted living apartment. She lives on the East Coast, and I travel about once every three or four months to spend time with her. Mom was genuinely happy I was there. She claimed I was spoiling her and hugged me a lot. Asked me the same questions a dozen times each day.
She was grateful for someone to help her remember her husbands name. I can see him, and I know we loved each other, but I cant remember his name. John. Ah, that was it. We were happy together, right? Yes. Very.
The one thing mom got wrong all those years ago was the never again part. I made her happy by showing up and showing interest. It was so easy and so powerful. Different questions, same joy.
Your smile is powerful, and others are hungry for it. Smile. Say hello. Answer their simple questions as many times as necessary. Let people know, I see you. You will be so glad you did.
Embracing your power is so very simple. Maybe start with yourself in the mirror and move outward.

P.S. Dont worry lest you think shes been abandoned. I am not an only child. My brothers also lavish attention on Mom.

Do Agnostics Go to Heaven?
There is no reason to fear for the repose of a departed loved ones soul.
Some fear that a departed loved one might not be at peace because they were agnostic or non-practiced in a specific dogma. Such a misunderstanding of the afterlife!
As a traveler into the afterlife, I assure you there are many paths to a peaceful afterlife, and none depend on religion.
The only things that exist in the afterlife are love and understanding.
We are understood, and we continue to understand ourselves. Even the meanest souls (think Hitler) go to this place. Yes, a soul may have work to do about learning ones lessons, but it is never about punishment, shame, or unpopular belief systems.
It is all about how you lived your life by the intentions you set forth before coming into this lifetime. And not all intentions are positive. Sometimes, a different lesson is needed.
We create our heaven and hell here on earth.
The clerics have no more or less of a direct line than the rest of us. Each of us is worthy, as we are from the same Divine spark.
There is no need to fear for your loved one or yourself.
Go forth and live your best life,
Mary

“I want to, but I’m afraid.”
When I tell people what I do they often express fear.
They are curious yet afraid of what they might hear. And it makes me sad.
You have nothing to fear from Spirit.
There is no judgment, no shame, no punishment.
We do that to ourselves without any outside help.
When I do a reading, I ask for messages in the highest order of light and love only. I will not allow dark, negative energy to enter. One might not like the message, which is separate from it not being good for them.
Hypnotherapy sessions, are designed so the client has all the controls at the ready. I am there to guide, but the client is best suited to lead themselves to understanding and next steps. One need not relive anything that may come up. The power of observation will suffice.
The number one comment after a session is, “I feel so relieved.” Talking with Spirit can do that for you.
Want to scare yourself into greater understanding of those things that hold you back? Schedule a discovery call and let me put your mind at ease.
In the highest order of light and love,
Mary

Illness is Stuck Energy
Whatever happens to you on one level happens on all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
When you are sick, you are in a state of dis-ease. Where you are sick tells you more specifically what is impacting you.
For example, pneumonia happens in the heart chakra, which is also responsible for the lungs. Difficulty breathing means you are not in right relationship with your emotions. You have unexpressed grief, anger, reluctance, etc. Sometimes, it can tell you have unexpressed joy that you may be holding back for many reasons, often so as not to make another feel bad.
The cure may require antibiotics or other medicine, but it will all come back again until you have the courage to express those emotions. Grapple with the grief, allow yourself to feel sad, be angry, or share your reticent joy.
Breathe it out. Choose the free flow of air. Move this stuck energy to the throat chakra and let it out.
I promise you will feel better.
Let go and allow. It is my mantra. You are welcome to share in its power.
I invite you to download my guided meditation, Chakra Balancing for Greater Intuition. As you reflect on each chakra, take a moment to notice what is blocking your flow and visualize it falling away.
Be well,
Mary

finding home
A few weeks ago, I talked about settling in. This week, I want to take it one step further.
If home is where the heart is, following my passions can only lead to feeling at home because the heart is all about ones passions.
Feeling at home means feeling comfortable in my place, in my skin, and like I am in the flow.
Today, upon entering my newly established space at Butterfly of Life, the metaphysical shop in Mesquite, I can be focused on being my best, surrounded by like-minded and multi-talented people. We exchange ideas, consider new opportunities, and support one another. We disagree, have differing perspectives, and still support one another.
As it should be.
In your heart of hearts, do you feel at home? Do you feel welcomed, supported, challenged? Are you celebrated for the very best parts of you?
Hypnotherapy is an excellent technique for setting aside the competing noises and the shoulds and oughts that can hijack your brain. With clarity and a sense of pure knowing, you can come away with a clear idea of what you feel called to do and begin truly making your way home.
While I hang my hat at the shop, I continue my practice in person and via equally effective video calls. If you want to know more, please schedule a discovery call.
I wish for you to feel as at home as I do now, recognizing that it results from a long journey, a keen knowing, and a plan.

ReInventing Mary
Every few years, I shift the focus of my business. This is one of those years.
Now that Im of retirement age, I love that I can pick and choose how I want to spend my time and be of service to others.
It is with great pride and pleasure that I have zoomed in on the two things I love doing most: Psychic mediumship and hypnotherapy. Selfishly, my energy rises and fills me with Spirit whenever I am in this space. It reminds me that what I do is valuable and necessary for my growth while supporting my clients.
Returning and new clients alike have let me know how much they value these services.
I also love presenting workshops and providing gallery readings for groups of people in my home or theirs. All of this is expressed on my newly revised website: simplified, focused, and open for business.
If you are interested in gaining greater clarity, focus, and streamlining your life, I am available to assist.

Settling In
Getting settled in a new town is especially challenging when there are no office mates or school-aged children to bring you into the core of things.
So, what did I do? I followed my passions!
I visited a crystal shop and found a new business just next door, anxious to add psychic readers, hypnotherapists, and workshop leaders to their offerings.
If youve read my past emails, you know I have many new opportunities coming up this fall, and its all thanks to my daring to open the crystal shop door and start asking questions. I found a place and people ready to welcome me.
Following my passions always finds me in the flow. There are others like me, like you, wherever we go. We must be true to ourselves to find and be found by all the right people.
If you are stuck — at a crossroads, in a new town, between relationships, etc., follow your passions. You will find like-minded others who will welcome you as if you are the one theyve been hoping to meet.
So, as we tend to go inward as fall comes, continue to reach outward to engage your passions.
Feeling stuck on this point? I can help. Set up a discovery call so we can talk.

Finally, a day in my home alone!
I was looking forward to this uninterrupted time to think, write, and be more productive than I have been in a long while.
To that end, I have won three straight backgammon games against the computer.
Keeping myself on task always seems like such a struggle.
Of course, I worked out for an hour, being sure to include all major muscle groups, stretching, and 20 minutes of aerobic exercises. I ordered a new tarot deck, did research on the seven elements of life and transpersonal chakras, and I remembered to pay my quarterly taxes. I made several appointments and followed up on tasks for my upcoming workshops.
Hmmm, I guess it was a productive day after all.
Sometimes, I am so hard on myself that I forget to look at how much I have accomplished.
Its easy when you have so much to do to forget to take a step back and see how much youve accomplished. When we only look forward, we are never done. Taking that few extra moments to notice how far youve come can bring you a bit of peace and, hopefully, think kinder thoughts about yourself.
Theres more to productivity than doing. Theres more to doing than actively accomplishing. The silence, the kind words we use toward ourselves, the more realistic expectations we set for ourselves all make for a very productive day.
How hard are you on yourself? There is always more to do, and there is always a need for playful rest (hence the online backgammon.)
When you are feeling down about your performance on any level, that is a sign to step back, take a deep breath, and remind yourself how far youve come and how far you will go, just not all at once.

My Magic Mushroom Trip
I am late to the party.
While a child of the 60s and 70s, other than a little pot now and then, I was not really into drugs. I feel lucky that I was not so stressed that I wanted to escape my life and lucky that I was usually too broke to get into too much trouble.
Finally, after much encouragement to experience mushrooms magical properties and spiritual connections, I indulged in psilocybin.
I am grateful to my guide, who thoughtfully prepared me and her spiritual induction ceremony. She remained nearby to ensure I was comfortable. I feel it is essential to say that I also checked with my physician to be sure there was nothing particular to my physical and mental health that needed to be considered.
I wish I could tell you that it was a magical mystery tour, that my physical self dissolved, and I became one with the Universe, with Spirit, devoid of ego, and with the highest callings of the eleventh chakra. But I didnt.
I wish I could say I came away with the sage wisdom of gurus atop the high Himalayas. But I didnt.
I wish I could say that it answered all of lifes mysteries. But it didnt.
Instead, I felt so calm and in tune with the depth of our world, seeing the connecting threads within many dimensions our waking minds cannot see. It was beautiful, and I know now that they are always there. I need to believe and trust its existence. And I reconnected with the ferry folk who, despite our so-called advanced minds, have been relegated to the mythical realms despite their true existence.
It was a pleasant experience and one I will undertake again.
What I learned about the process is how important ones mindset is before entering into this realm. I appreciated just letting things happen without trying to control them. Ijust was, and it was beautiful. (Perhaps we should consider air-dropping doses over war zones to encourage all sides to see our oneness, beauty, and shared humanity.)
In preparation for this experience, I read Michael Pollens How to Change Your Mind, where he described his experiences with various hallucinogens. He reported experiencing a loving sense of oneness beyond anything he had ever experienced. I have experienced this on several occasions sans drugs and with deep meditation. If I could experience it more often, that would be great, but mushrooms or other hallucinogens are not required. They are more of an accelerator.
I most appreciated seeing the dimensions displayed in beautiful colors and energy patterns. The world is deeper than we can see, and while I could have told you that, it was lovely to experience it.
There were a few other messages of a personal nature, but nothing too dramatic. There will be a next time, though. I havent decided when, but I will go for the larger dose and see where it takes me. (It turns out that SSRIs or anti-depressants can keep the medicine from being absorbed.)
Of note, at no time did I lose my common sense. I felt no compulsion to leap off buildings or take unusual risks. Im not sure that would have been true when I was younger. Common sense does come with age and experience.
I would love to hear about your experiences with mushrooms or other hallucinogens. I wont share with others without your permission and never with your name associated. I also welcome any suggestions for future considerations.
Meanwhile, I am here if you would like to have a psychic reading or discuss how hypnotherapy can help you remove barriers to a more magical life.
