What the actual f**k!

What the actual f**k!

This is a quote from a recent reader who read my book, Being Woo Woo in an Engineered World.

And that was only one Id received lately.

The book outlines my journey into my first conscious awakening to my intuition and subsequent psychic abilities. (I didn’t use to distinguish between the two, but now I do. A topic for another day.)

Here are just two examples of recent testimonials I received.

“MARY. FLANAGAN. GLEASON. —-> what the actual f**k is happening?” (i.e., my mind is blown because you are putting to words what I have not yet been able to but have been thinking about CONSTANTLY) My pages are well highlighted, dog-eared, and scribbled upon. Thank you for writing this book.”
“You just helped me understand where my husband and I miscommunicate! At times, I felt so stupid, but I now realize that we see the world so very differently. I am smart. He is smart.”

Looking back at it now, I see where I missed opportunities to be even more open, gracious, and explanatory. Still, it is and was a worthwhile endeavor; that readers gained so much from reading it its hard for me to remain humble at times.

Others have shared with me in person what they took from the book. My favorite was an old neighbor from when I was a child who read the book (in his late 80s). He called me to say,

“I wonder how different my life would have been if I had read your book as a young professional. I would have viewed other thinkers differently. “

All this is leading me to remind you of my book as your personal resource. I’ve been thinking about a second book. If I should write it, what would you like it to include? What would be most helpful to you?

With appreciation and anticipation,

Mary

Opportunitys Knocking

Opportunity. Thats my word for 2024.

I am spending this next year seeking and acknowledging opportunities to grow my soul, spiritual practice, and psychic mediumship business.

Grace was almost my word for the year, but I realized it was the Opportunity to experience and extend grace that called to me.

Opportunities often present themselves; at other times, I must seek them out. Both are tricky. The first is recognizing the Opportunity before me; the second is knowing what I seek. Both take conscious consideration and can change my course at any time.

What is your word for 2024?

How do you wish to proceed consciously through these next twelve months?

Whatever you decide, write the word on a piece of paper. Place it on your computer screen, bathroom mirror, and car dashboard. Make it your background on your cell phone. After all, you never know when Opportunity is calling.

Schedule a reading with me to see what opportunities are coming your way in 2024. I would love to help you make this your best year ever!

Mary

Holiday Cards are Optional

About 25 years ago, I decided to stop sending Christmas cards.

What a relief! Of all the things on my plate at that time work, kids, house, shopping, wrapping, shipping, etc. holiday cards became optional. Once the decision was made, it was so easy to let go.

I didnt take something off my plate as much as I refused to put one more thing on my plate.

This year, holiday cards are back on the agenda. They are back on my list of things I enjoy doing.

Whats on your plate that is extra and causing a burden?

This is a perfect time to review your to-do list, find the things that are optional, and eliminate them. Give yourself the gift of focus, reserved energy, and peace.

Happy holidays to one and all,

Mary

A Square Route to Accomplishments

My sister-in-law sent me the best-ever early Christmas present!

An advent puzzle!

When I first looked at the picture, 1000 pieces to compile a very busy holiday scene, I thought, Im never going to finish this. And, who has time for this?!

Then I opened the box and found 24 square boxes, one for each day. Each box contains about 40 pieces to complete one square of the puzzle. It has instantly become an enjoyable way to start my day. A cup of tea and 20-30 minutes of completing one square. The whole puzzle is a joyful scene to look at, and I feel accomplished before I have even started my day.

What a great metaphor for breaking down your day, week, and life.

One square at a time.

And then pat yourself on the back for having completed that one square. If you always look at how far you have to go, you might miss the fairy floating from the ceiling or the teddy bear in the miniature sleigh.

Break down your goals into bite-sized — and, dare I say, enjoyable — bits.

Thanks, Elayne, for sending this gift and reminder about how rewarding life can be, one small square at a time.

What if, just for today

My friends and I often talk about how much weight we need to lose, what we once were like, and what we were once able to do. It leaves me feeling less than whole. It’s as if I’ve declined in ways I didn’t want to and might never return.

What if, just for today, you and I accept the length of our hair, the lines on our faces, the number on the scale, the amount in the bank account?

What if, just for today, we actually liked ourselves just as we are?

What if, just for today, we stayed in this moment with no regrets, anxiety, or lack?

Starting today, I am enough. I look like someone who has had my life experiences, came through the challenges, embraced the joys, and now approves of myself exactly as I am.

What will make you happier inside is not likely to be under the Christmas tree or otherwise gifted to you. It isn’t among today’s deals from Amazon  although it does come with free shipping.

As the book title says, happiness is an inside job.

If you want to be happier from the inside, you can start by looking yourself directly in the eye. Stay in front of that mirror until you can give yourself a smile, release the tension, and watch the lines fall away. Laugh as if you know joy somewhere deep within and acknowledge yourself at your core. You are no one’s victim.

We are strong in ways we never knew existed when we were younger.

Enjoy your day, beautiful. You’ve earned it.

Mary

PS A little stocking stuffer I am offering is 50% off readings booked by December 31. Hope youll take advantage!

Creating New Cues to Gain Your Bearings

Youre not going to believe this, especially if youre in the Pacific Northwest, but constant sunshine can make you lose your bearings.

December 1 will be one full year of living in the beautiful Nevada desert. One complete cycle of sunshine. Yes, we have bad weather, often colder than you would imagine, but it tends to look the same. The gorgeous view from our backyard rarely changes.

There are no dramatic autumn colors, a few occasional traces of snow on the mountains, etc. So now that it is the holiday season, I am at a loss for cues that naturally make me want to decorate, shop, and even turn on Christmas carols so I can sing along. It is all very strange.

My lack of cues, however, does not change things. It is rapidly nearing December, and the holiday season is upon me!

I must internally, intentionally, breathe the holiday spirit into existence, not on my calendar, but in my soul. It is a fake-it-until-you-make-it situationnew places to decorate with long cherished ornaments. Familiar holiday movies to evoke the sentiment, scents of cinnamon and nutmeg to awaken my olfactory senses; wearing one red sock and one green so the very act of looking down lifts me up.

So many things can disorient us on our daily walk through life. It is a cumbersome burden unless we take action. Moving to a new clime is disorienting. Losing a loved one is disorienting. Losing a job, a relationship or familiar surroundings are all disorienting.

That is why I am so grateful for my relationship with Spirit. My ability to connect with Spirit, with past loved ones, to find new hope amid disorienting days is a gift I call on regularly and loving share with you.

If you are disoriented this season and need to connect with the familiar to face the new, call on me. I am just a click away.

Blessings,

Mary

“Roots Hold Me Close, Wings Set Me Free”

-Spirit of Life

This week, I was ready to announce my co-ownership in a metaphysical store. I was very excited, but sadly, and for several reasons, it was not to be.

That sense of having a place to go, to be discovered, to convene was filled with hope and excitement. Surprisingly, letting go was not as hard as I had anticipated. Still, I can’t help but be a little disappointed.

Having a sense of place takes on so many meanings. Knowing where I belong and with whom gives me the incredible sensation of being held firmly in place by my roots regardless of where my adventures – my wings- have led me.

This Thanksgiving, I remember how lucky I am to have adult children who invite me into their lives, a husband who is truly a partner, and a host of friends who are set to applaud and support my next adventure.

And my clients… those who trust me to deliver messages from Spirit in the highest order of light and love… golden!

To show my gratitude, I offer readings for new and returning clients at half off through December 31.

Want to purchase a gift certificate for a holiday stocking stuffer? Perfect! I will honor this offer (one per customer, please) and send a beautifully designed certificate for printing and presentation.

Let’s see if Spirit can help you find your place in life.

With deep gratitude and appreciation,

Mary

Smile Power 😊

When I was a little girl, my mother worked in a nursing home as the head nurse on the third floor. She cared deeply for her patients and went the extra mile to ensure they felt seen and heard.

I remember her bringing me to work to visit the residents with few or no visitors on several occasions. I only had to say hello and answer the same questions repeatedly.

How old are you? Five. What grade are you in? Kindergarten. And the other usual questions older people ask children.

I asked Mom why I had to go visit these people. They were old and smelly and wrinkly and all kinds of scary. My mother’s answer was powerful and has stuck with me throughout the past six decades.

“Never again will you have the power to make someone’s day, to gladden their soul, just by walking in the room and saying hello.”

And it was true. I saw lonely elders smile, sit up, lean in. They were hungry for contact and grateful for someone to talk with.

This week, I visited my mom in her assisted living apartment. She lives on the East Coast, and I travel about once every three or four months to spend time with her. Mom was genuinely happy I was there. She claimed I was spoiling her and hugged me a lot. Asked me the same questions a dozen times each day.

She was grateful for someone to help her remember her husband’s name. “I can see him, and I know we loved each other, but I can’t remember his name.” John. “Ah, that was it. We were happy together, right?” Yes. Very.

The one thing mom got wrong all those years ago was the “never again” part. I made her happy by showing up and showing interest. It was so easy and so powerful. Different questions, same joy.

Your smile is powerful, and others are hungry for it. Smile. Say hello. Answer their simple questions as many times as necessary. Let people know, “I see you.” You will be so glad you did.

Embracing your power is so very simple. Maybe start with yourself in the mirror and move outward.

😊

Mary

P.S. Don’t worry lest you think she’s been abandoned. I am not an only child. My brothers also lavish attention on Mom.
