Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior

How quickly do you forget what you have and where you come from?

Many struggle with handling windfalls and success, just as much, if not more, when times are difficult or not favorable. Displaying both sides of the coin was the Israelites. Led out of slavery and provided manna to survive, while in the desert, Israelites still complained; and also, when given instructions, regarding the manna, some still did not listen (see Exodus 16:4, 5, 25 & 27-28). So, if you, too, find yourself on either or both sides of the coin, might you remember that God will always provide, as He promises that he will never leave or forsake you (see Hebrews 13:5). #RemainFaithful & #TrustInHim

How selfless are you?

Selflessness is genuine and spontaneous, not staged or forced. Encouraging you to extend such an act of love is God. For He desires his children, you, to love with actions and in truth, not with words or speech (see 1 John 3:18). So, instead of looking for ways to be noticed and praised, might you instead "love one another" as yourself and as Jesus does, as actions speak volumes. #TrueCharacterRevealed

How willing are you to forgive?

Uttering the words, "I'm sorry", can be very hard to do, yet necessary to mending fences and healing hearts. Demonstrating forgiveness, towards you and me, came on the cross, as Jesus prayed to his father to "forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34). You and I, too, are asked to do the same, "not seven times, but seventy-seven times" (Matthew 18:22 & 21-35). For "if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you" (6:14). #ThePowerOf77

What deserves your gratitude?

There is so much yet to be discovered and uncovered, in both yourself and the world with which you live in, as His creation runs deep (see Psalm 95:4); and as part of his creation, you are a beneficiary of his great works. So, as you continue to tap in to his greatness and goodness, might you "sing for joy" and "shout aloud" (95:1), as you are part of the "flock under his care" (95:7). #AppreciatingAllCreation

Why invest in friendships?

Difficult to find and more so to keep, but essential to one's well-being, are friends. For when you invest in friendships, you find your life to be more meaningful, not "meaningless" (Ecclesiastes 4:8 NIV); and when you have "a cord of three strands [it] is not easily broken" (4:12). So, instead of finding yourself alone, might you take the time to invest in others as "two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor, [and] if either of them falls down, one can help the other up" (4:9-10). #NothingLikeAFriend

What do you do with your mistakes?

Mistakes are made; and when they are, you can either learn and grow from them or continue making more. If you choose to learn from your mistakes, you are reminded to "[forget] what is behind and [strain] toward what is ahead [and] press on" (Philippians 3:13-14). For your mistakes become teaching tools that equip you to make better choices. So, might you allow your mistakes to mold and mature you. #ToolsForGrowth

What do you consider a worthy investment?

Many look for ways to get rich quick, as they do not think through what they are investing in and, sometimes, end up losing it all, and then some. To invest in something that will sustain itself is filled with having a faith in something that takes time to pay dividends; and when you listen to sound advice, like Jeremiah did, "[he] will give [you] all the prosperity [he has] promised [you]" (Jeremiah 32:42). So, if you want to make a wise and sustainable investment, might you do so in faith. The longer you faithfully invest, the more you gain. #FaithfulInvestments

Why remember kindness?

No matter how big or small, it is very important to remember the kindness(es) shown toward you, especially His; and helping you and I to remember this is Isaiah. Isaiah remarks that he "will tell of the kindnesses of the LORD, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the LORD has done for us" (63:7). So, might you, too, remember to give Him the praise that he deserves, along with those who also treat you with kindness. #KindlyRemember

What is love?

There is no greater love than to sacrifice oneself for another; and to know such a love is to know Jesus. He shared this, during the Last Supper, with friends, by telling them to "love each other as I have loved you" (John 15:12); and shows this, through his actions, when he laid his life down for his friends (see 15:13), you and me. So, may His words and actions help you to see what love truly is. #SelflessSacrifice

Why forgive?

Easier said than done, but holding on and harboring hurt only makes you bitter and miserable. So, instead, might you ask Him to help you "get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice" (Ephesians 4:31), and "be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as Christ God forgave you" (Ephesians 4:32). For when you do, the hurt will not weigh and wear you down and take away your happiness. #FindForgiveness & #RemainJoyful
