Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior

What is the test of one's true character?

It is when we also acknowledge the not so good moments in our lives, which can leave us isolated, lonely and desperate, that reveal our truest character; and in order to help us deal with such struggles and rise above them is James. He instructs us to "consider it pure joy" when we "face trials of many kinds" (1:2); and "to let perseverance finish the work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything" (1:4). Consider allowing yourself to stay grounded in your faith, in both good and bad times, so that when these struggles occur you will become stronger and a better person each and every day (see 15:5). #TrueCharacterRevealed

Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior

How selfless are you?

Selflessness is genuine and spontaneous, not staged or forced. Encouraging you to extend such an act of love is God. For He desires his children, you, to love with actions and in truth, not with words or speech (see 1 John 3:18). So, instead of looking for ways to be noticed and praised, might you instead "love one another" as yourself and as Jesus does, as actions speak volumes. #TrueCharacterRevealed

How do you behave when you struggle and suffer?

Much can be learned about a person, yourself included, when life is not going your or their way. The authentic person appears when struggle, strain, and pain take hold. Knowing this all too well was Jesus as his disciples turned on him by leaving, fleeing (see Matthew 26:56) and denying him (see John 18:15-17, 25-27) when He was arrested and then later crucified. So, when the inevitable struggles and hurt happen, might you remain true to who you are, and consider taking heart and home with Him so that He can "turn" your sorrows in "to joy” (John 16:20) that “no one [can or] will take away” (John 16:22). #TrueCharacterRevealed
