Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior
How do you handle hardship?
Hands down, life is hard; but even so, life can still be good, even great. Knowing hardship well was David. Even as successful as he was, his own son, a trusted advisor and most of his country turned against him (see 2 Samuel 15:1-12). Despite the betrayal and lack of support, he gave it all to God, because he trusted him wholeheartedly. When you are faced with hardship, might you also consider letting Him "do to [you] whatever seems good to him" (15:26), because he will always do what is right for you, just as he did for David. #NothingGoodIsEasy #RemainSteadfast & #True

How do you handle having mixed emotions?
There is no shame in being joyous, during hard times; and David helps you to understand this as he reveals how he has wept and danced and mourned and laughed (see Psalm 30:11) all the while "[praising] his holy name" (30:4). For when you are faithful, like David, you too can experience any and all emotions without guilt. May you allow yourself to feel what you feel and "sing the praises of the LORD" (30:4). #Hallelujah

When do you pick up and notice?
It took Samuel three times to hear God calling him (see 1 Samuel 3:4-10); and when he finally listened, God said "Speak, for your servant is listening" (3:10). You can keep avoiding the calls and signs or you can take the calls and see the signs, which are right in front of you, just as Samuel did. Because when you do, He "will wipe away every tear from [your] eyes" (Revelation 21:3-5) and provide you with the wisdom, strength and encouragement that you need. #PickUp & #Notice

How can you share and spread good news?
Warned by Paul, and still true today, many are drawn to those who tell them what they want to hear instead of what they need to hear (2 Timothy 4:3-4); and if you want to "do the work of an evangelist" (4:5), you are instructed to "be prepared in season and out of season" and be able to "correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction" (4:2). If you choose to do so, may you reach many. #FindAWay

How do you handle weakness?
Weakness can take you to your knees and make you feel lost, vulnerable and uncertain; but it can also build you up and make you a better and even stronger person. In order for Gideon to see that he, too, really needed God and could not rely on and say that his own strength saved him (see Judges 7:2) was when The Lord said to Gideon, "you have too many men" (7:2), and intentionally took twenty-two thousand men and left him with three hundred (see 7:3 & 5-6). So, when you are weak, might you remember that "[His] power is made perfect in weakness" (2 Corinthians 12:9); and if you allow him, he will be there to help you as you regain your strength. #EmbraceYourWeakness & #GainStrengthFromIt

What needs healed?
Your health, mentally, physically and spiritually, all three, is integral to your well-being; and when it is ailing or wounded, it can make your life difficult and cause you to not function well. Although, there is someone who can help you with your ailments and wounds as He has healed many, but most importantly you. "It is by his wounds [that you] are healed" (Isaiah 53:5), because of your sins. So, if your spirit is ailing or wounded and needs healed, might you reach out to The One who can do so (see Mark 2:17). #AHealerOfTheMind #Body & #Soul

What gets you motivated?
Motivation is different for everyone. For Peter and John, it was Jesus. With mixed emotions, "both were running" in the direction of Jesus' empty tomb (John 20:4), and shortly after were approached by the resurrected Jesus (see 20:19-29). May whatever it is that gets you to hope, seek or run to, just like the two disciples, many you do so "with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13). #WorthyOfYourTimeAndEffort

What does suffering teach you?
No one chooses to suffer, but we all do; and no one knows suffering more than He does. Knowing that He would be betrayed, publicly humiliated and later crucified, he still chose to any way; and as He prayed, beforehand, "his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground" (Luke 22:44). So, each time that you suffer, might you take a moment to remember, especially, on this very day, why He did so. #EternalLife

How willing are you to serve?
There is nothing more satisfying or gratifying than serving others. For service can teach you a great deal about yourself and those around you; and choosing to serve, instead of being served, was the Son of Man (see Matthew 20:28). One of the many things that He did, after a meal, was wash his disciples' feet (see John 13:3-5). So, if you have never served, might you consider doing so and see what an impact that it can have on others, especially yourself. #ChallengeYourself & #Serve

What are you willing to sacrifice?
When it comes right down to it, many are unwilling to do what it takes to get what they want or become something greater than themselves. The hard work, effort and drive to do so is just not there. Similar is becoming a disciple, but with even greater commitment and dedication. "If you [want] to be [his] disciple, [you] must deny [yourself] and take up [his] cross and follow [him]" (Matthew 16:24). When you make such a decision to do so, you give all of yourself. May what you are willing to sacrifice, especially for Christ, be what you truly want and are willing to do. #TrueSelflessness
