Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior

How do you handle disappointment? When plans are established, and obstacles get in the way, great disappointment sets in, and the future looks dismal. Instead of seeing these disappointments as set backs, consider looking at them as opportunities to allow the Lord to establish your steps (see Proverbs 16:9); because even if you can't see the path ahead, He can, and will help you realize your dreams.

When we are unable to see something, we have a hard time believing. This same mindset also goes for believing in a man who died for us and comes to our aid whenever we ask him. Even before us, Luke also shares the same mentality of not believing. He says that people, rich and poor alike, also, would not listen to Moses or the Prophets, or even be convinced if someone had risen from the dead (see 16:31). In order to change this mindset, consider what Oswald Chambers has to say. He says that "seeing is never believing;" and "we interpret what we see in the light of what we believe." #believingisseeing

When your access to water becomes scarce, where do you turn to? John provides us with a reliable source, Jesus. He reminds us that "everyone who drinks the water [he] give[s] them will never thirst;" and 'the water [he] give[s] them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life" (4:13-14). Consider tapping in to the source; and never be thirsty again. #keepwellhydrated

How well do you navigate your daily forecast and life's storms, especially the severe ones? Navigating through life's daily forecast, especially the storms that pop up, can be very unsettling and cause a great deal of fear. Fortunately, whatever the forecast, He will be there, with you, through it all, even during the most difficult storms in your life, and will calm the wind, waters, and waves by saying "peace, be still" (Mark 4:39 NKJV). #navigator #captain & #anchor

In all that you do, how humble are you? Our abilities and actions present us with the opportunity to harness a true and powerful asset, humility. When we "walk humbly with...God," (Micah 6:8), and "act justly" and "love mercy," (6:8), we have the ability to make such a positive and lasting impression with what we do, especially with those who see us do so. #walkhumbly & #instepwithHim

What can you do, when you see someone in need? Mary "did what she could," (Mark 14:8), for Jesus, before his death and burial. When you take a moment to do something for another, your life will be blessed, just like Mary's was. #akindgesture

Even in the light, darkness can surround us, especially if we allow it to. Darkness is like a plague, noted and also experienced by the Egyptians, in Exodus 10:21-29; which can affect our mental capabilities negatively. Fortunately, for the Egyptians, as well as ourselves, we have been given the opportunity to see the great light and live in it (see Isaiah 9:2). Consider living, both day and night, with clarity. #ahealthymind

Daily Meditations of a Nurse Warrior

As much as we would like to, at times, we can not run away from life and our problems; and no matter how long we try to out run them, they will always be there until we decide to deal with them. Jonah, too, also tried to run "away from the Lord" (1:3); and in doing so, was swallowed by a whale (1:15-17). No matter what life brings us, we don't have to run, especially from Him. Instead, He wants us to turn towards His love, (2:2, 8), because our "salvation comes from the Lord" (2:9). Consider running towards Him, not running away. #bepursued

Life is filled with rule followers and rule breakers. Which one are you? We each possess a conscience that allows us to make decisions regarding rules, but whether we choose to follow the rules is up to us; just like the gentiles, (see Romans 1:32), and Jews, (see 2:17-24), who both broke the laws, the Ten Commandments, given to them by God. Fortunately, when we confess our sins to Him, He forgives us of our rule-breaking (see 3:23-26; 6:23). #rightorwrong #guiltyornotguilty #followerorbreaker

How well do you stand out or "shine" amongst a dark landscape that is filled with brokenness and evil?

When trying to do good or the right thing, it is not easy to separate yourself from a dark world that is filled with brokenness and evil. Fortunately, we have the option and ability to overcome the darkness and these ongoing and difficult obstacles. Phillippians reminds us that when we "hold firmly to the word of life," "[we] will shine among them like stars in the sky" (2:15-16). Even through the darkness, there is a light, God's Spirit, that empowers us to continue good works with self-control, kindness, hope, and faithfulness (see Galatians 5:22-23). #keeplightingitup & #shineon
