Hi Dennis, 

Great to hear from you, and great! Looking forward to seeing you as well, if it works out. My mother just returned yesterday from Maine and a visit to Sandy. I agree that she's doing well, and travel after 15 months of quarantine may even increase her well-being, I'd hypothesize. As World Univ & Sch begins to build out courses for matriculating PhD and Bachelor degree students, and at first from all ~200 countries, in English, and gradually also in a realistic virtual earth / environment as classrooms, might you enjoy focusing your educational statistical research on some of these developments? Perhaps we can explore this in conversation a bit when I'm back in Pittsburgh.

If you were to address these questions again, 15 months into the Coronavirus pandemic with much remote education having taken place over these months, how might you reformulate your hypotheses, and rewrite the game even?

PS am also curious how such questions and studies might emerge in very new ways in a single realistic virtual earth, and for classrooms, and as STEM field sites too; am thinking, brainstorming-wise, in terms of Google Street View with time slider, Maps, Earth, TensorFlow AI, Translate and with realistic virtual avatar bots of you and I and students too, studying, digital-twin-wise conceptually, and as the #FilmTo3D data accrues, for example. Am thinking also regarding declining attendance of a learning model focused around play, such as might occur with the Scratch programming language, and Lego robotics - regarding learning computer science learning even for K-12th grade. Thoughts, questions, ideas, suggestions? WUaS is planning IB high schools online in all ~200 countries and in their official and main languages.

Ma,

Found a motel from the road, Motel 6, coming into Omaha Nebraska for $74.99 on illuminated sign, $82.86 after taxes etc ... And it is smoke free ! And cold too ..  may use sleeping bags, but first first shower and shave. Has internet wifi too. Functional, clean, quiet, but not in the most beautiful area but it will be good to sleep well :)

Hoping I didn't in calling beforehand about hotels to the curious independent reseller give away my price point, asking for an 80 room, and then Motel 6 posting basically this amount ...

It so nice to lie flat right now, and soon to sleep well I think ... And to get a shower - need to get some shaving cream, and jam, in the morning. 14 hours' driving time to Pgh which is doable, allowing time to explore along the way tomorrow 😊.

Am I bringing World Univ & Sch to the east coast of the US? Glad to be traveling through the time change zone, and the cultural change zones too, on terra firma, and gradually - on a kind of freedom trail, and even possibly regarding abolition, since I'm leaving a 'safe house' on the underground railroad in a sense too. Traveling kind of prioritizes things too, and appreciating the physical movement in it ... glad to have meditated this morning as well; this room I'm staying in has some space in it.
The motel room is working out ... and getting in the mode of travel ... went out to get phone charger, and possibly shaving cream, but forgot key, so, no shaving cream run, instead back to the front desk to get a key, and then back to room, charging phone, took shower, and decided to add extra soap after shower and softened stubble of 3 days, and shave then ... worked well ... am learning possibly regarding price too .. the internet works, and seems unlimited, and the room in general is smoke and other odor free ...

May try to get WUaS Minutes out before I go, catch up on blogging, play Scottish Small Pipes, and even make notes from Stuart Liddell's 2nd lesson video recording, then explore taking a hike around Omaha with App, see downtown Omaha, and then maybe head for South Bend Indiana area this evening (but not where, Terre Haute, Indiana, the writer of the Desiderata was from) ...  
What are you up to today and tomorrow? And how are you? You sounded good on the phone the other evening. Am so appreciative that you're my mother, Ma! ... Will I meet a life partner on this trip back east - of some Scots' heritage even - and will I return to the SF Bay Area ... lots of options are opening because of this trip :)

Hi Ma,

Nice to talk with you yesterday. Camping out on 'top of the world' at the entrance to the 

Wick/Beumee

Wildlife area in Wyoming, near the Wagonhound rest area.

Yet I moved apart from the little temporary truckers' village there, not parking in its active parking light full of car headlights, yet also on a beautiful high place with views all round under amazingly vast sky - on the natural side of things.

I 'stay connected' communicating with you. Thank you, Ma! (Find similar in a life partner and beginning a family of 3, too?).

I like a softboiled egg these days for breakfast, - and without anything else to seek to keep weight down too. I also like great vegetarian food and seek to eat 10-15 vegetables, fruits, grains and legumes in a day ... Yummy multi-grain brain, imaginative salads? 

Slept better last night, than night before, and even left the back hatch open early this morning which slight more length to stretch out in my sleeping bag didn't lead somehow to torquing a knee. 

The adventure of a 5 day cross-country trip opens all kinds of horizons and possibilities compared with flying. Am liking it much again, and waiting on the self-driving autonomous vehicle van with a shower a d toilet, accessible from in the van, in a Toyoto Proace or possibly Sprinter Mercedes Van with 50 mpg energy efficiency:) .. so I wouldn't even have to stop to sleep since I could sleep in van as it self-drove. :)

Laramie, WY, in the snowstorm in 1981??

Hi Nancy and Riely, (Shady Side Academy friend, Nancy, - and both Reed College friends, :) and 1st semester roommate, Riely),

Just coming into Laramie Wyoming, on I-80, am exhausted and am driving across the country again for the adventure - BUT AM NOT IN A SnOWSTORM like in 1981 or so with you two. Where was that hotel in Laramie where we holed up in that storm ? It was right on the main street I think too and possibly close to the Historic district. 

Am at the beautiful on top of the world Wagonhound rest area

at 10:17a I entered Utah MST (which is 9:17 SF Bay Area time)

& at 2:27p MST I entered Wyoming

Many 80 mph highways in these big western states

And I could be there tomorrow evening in 1764 miles, if I didn't have to sleep, and didn't get tired ... so three 8 hour driving days ahead, and glad to be exploring along the way ...

Before 7am in Elko on wheely-style bicycle, white t-shirt with no sleeves, shorts, shaven head, back to me, almost Gollum like (Tolkien) in the way his body was curled, smoking a cigarette, talking to Latino man sitting in a slightly souped up blue car, with I think his girlfriend next to him. Speculatively, Would this Elko-guy end up working in a local machine shop the rest of his life, having grown up in a difficult family? Good to see these folks talking together at before 7am in the morning, hanging out, in early summer time.

Hi Ma, yes, pretty good night's sleep from 10-6 pretty soundly, although I do better still if I sleep to 7.

Entered Iowa at 11:44 am Central Standard Time, ... Pretty rolling hills and farm country, and big trees and pretty woods at this rest area ... Beethoven's symphonies are playing as I drive (von Karajan) ... ... Literally metaphorically  'blew my mind' for minutes on end yesterday :) ... Kinds of living bliss neurophysiology :) .... And since I stopped streaming music back when I talked with you about 2 days ago from a Shell gas station ... And got 2 TMobile :roaming messages, and my internet was at an end then, but after I talked with TMobile, in Oregon, most internet streaming came back on while on I-80 (despite TMobile coverage zones being elsewhere than Wyoming), ... except I still xan't stream music, Shakespeare plays on YouTube and Alice in Wonderland in YouTube too ... Nice to have wifi for Maps and much more however ... 
Appreciating this wonderland of a country ... Wishing I could with self driving van with shower spend more time getting out seeing it while driving cross country

I'm planning to head east driving to Cuttyhunk island via NE Oregon and interstate 90, and hoping to arrive at Wisdom Creek Ranch (which a favorite uncle Ted began in 1959) next Sunday evening to visit my cousin Ann Brown (if I can), and maybe her sister, Cathy, in Pendleton, too. My friend from high school, Henry Cutter:), has kindly invited me to visit him and Victoria in Randolph, VT (and do Yoga on their lawn too!:), and I'm wondering whether I could possibly please come visit you as well in VT and at Kendall, if you're going to be around during parts of July? Do you happen to know already when you might be on Cuttyhunk in July, by any chance? :) I may also head to Portland, Maine on a July trip to visit Sandy there. (Am also heading to Portland again around the August 1st weekend, to visit my 1st cousin Mark, and possibly see some of his siblings too at their place in Bonny Eagle). We could sort out further details after I get back east to Cuttyhunk, and am planning to arrive around June 28th and to visit in passing with David Thurston on-island. 
Am in a bit of a curious situation out here, living in a 'safe house,' having whistle-blown about Canyon 94516, by calling the local police, and regarding a mentally ill, offending and perpetrating former landlord, who may also be violent, within a culture of violence in the Canyon and regarding even the illegal sex industry ... so while I think I'm safe here north of Berkeley, and I'll be safe on the east coast, I also could be looking for another place to live back east ... all unfolding ... but I have in mind also writing a 2nd Harbin ethnographic book in mind with actual fieldwork, if California can get its act together and make it a safe place to live, and regarding other whistle-blowing I've done too, about UC Berkeley, its Law School, Stanford, in addition to the SF Quaker Meeting and PYM, ... and north in Oregon regarding Reed College too. I've also received some other threats near Canyon, and was even assaulted in the Quaker Meeting somewhat traumatically (with some of this is in my blog, in the 'ethics' label, and in other blog entries).
And I continue to seek a life partner, with whom to begin a family of 3 or so - and who is interested in starting a family too; a 28-32 year old warm radiant MD with whom I connect would be wonderful ... but I've been seeking this for years ...perhaps at a disadvantage, however, living in Canyon 94516 (where the landlord could even have wanted me to connect with his daughter :( . . . and I was writing my 5 books too ... ) 
I'm thinking I'll take a few trips off from Cuttyhunk with a very great opportunity to see New England, so I'm wondering if it might be possible to stop by and see you in your homes away from beautiful wonderful Cuttyhunk? :)
Lots of driving ahead and not yet in an autonomous vehicle that's also a van for comfort and space while traveling! ... CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World Univ & Sch is coming along, and it could be great to be based in the Boston area regarding proximity to Harvard and MIT ahead, in some of these regards too ... with opportunities for many growing with it, I think.

Sending this here after text -How was your book group Ma? How was your day? 
Got new-ish slightly small blue suitcase off plank outside under tarp with nice things, pieces of material, in it, from India from 2013-14 trip. Too small? Not as well designed as green suitcase, with sim external dimensions, which can fit Scottish small pipes? So I labored to get green suitcase  from under the tarp, tent, not easy to get, heavy with books, old, slightly wearing fabric, ratty, very dusty, dirty ... no piano Blues' book inside either - Decided Blue suitcase would be better, even without pipes, and if I was going to sleep 4 nights in cramped car with it ... 
Frozen food is all cooked, in microwave, in wok, - to turn off fridge for 7 weeks - good travel food, ... 5 hard boiled eggs, 10 minutes each are cooked too ... Laundry load ahead ...
 Possibly sending out WUaS Minutes from Monthly Business Meeting this morning too ... 
Nice lunch at Ed's ... They're all flying off to the Florida Keys in the morning ... Ed's enjoying his retirement ...

Hoping my left eye will heal in the upcoming months.  (It was potentially a mistake to get the vaccine, as I think about this further, from a personal or individual rational decision-making point of view - especially if my eye is permanently damaged; on the other hand, if I'm now in databases having got the shot, perhaps I'm safer from the perspective of 'state' - the US, and all 5 states - medical systems gone awry; and would it / could it also lead to getting aging reversal vaccines, potentially, because I got this vaccine, I wonder?).

162 miles out, I just crossed the Pacific Trail and glad I noticed it (2hrs 30mins back to Berkeley from here), which part of the trail I think I hiked on a 3.5 month journey from  Mexico-CA border to the Columbia River between WA & OR in 1980 in California and Oregon (not in its entirety). to car camp, on a high desert plateau - with beautiful near full moon (June 24) as I fell asleep. Adventure on the road opens all kind of ways of seeing, and the desert is pleasant cool and very clear at night. Nevada has vast open spaces all around. The amazing AllTrails'App opened these 3 opportunities to explore as I get underway first thing in the morning - all to the east ahead near highway 80, and thanks to Ed for this great IT resource!

Searched on hot springs near me too - and there are 3, cool, but none appealing enough to stop at, probably; amazing IT to open these horizons.
Camping in my tiny Prius C is quite comfortable all curled up on the back, - making me think even a bit about traveling in a space ship capsule. I'm curious how to increase the knowledge aspects - geology, natural history wise - of my little trip, cross-country, compared with physicist astronauts, heading, say, for Mars in the 2030s. It's a little like ocean sailing too in a not too big seaworthy craft. 
Would be fun to travel on this trip with my life partner.

Found a place near Beowawe Navada - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beowawe,_Nevada -to car camp, on a high desert plateau - with beautiful near full moon (June 24) as I fell asleep. Adventure on the road opens all kind of ways of seeing, and the desert is pleasant cool and very clear at night. Nevada has vast open spaces all around. The amazing AllTrails'App opened these 3 opportunities to explore as I get underway first thing in the morning - all to the east ahead near highway 80, and thanks to Ed for this great IT resource!

Searched on hot springs near me too - and there are 3, cool, but none appealing enough to stop at, probably; amazing IT to open these horizons.
Camping in my tiny Prius C is quite comfortable all curled up on the back, - making me think even a bit about traveling in a space ship capsule. I'm curious how to increase the knowledge aspects - geology, natural history wise - of my little trip, cross-country, compared with physicist astronauts, heading, say, for Mars in the 2030s. It's a little like ocean sailing too in a not too big seaworthy craft. 
Would be fun to travel on this trip with my life partner.

Some snow on the distant my Mountains from Wells, Nevada, 107F was the hottest temp I saw yesterday in car thermometer, 2022 miles to Pgh, which is 30 hours driving time. Whale Pass, Alaska - Whale Pass Community Library

- has grown a lot bigger in the past year, and that Delewarans, in that tiny state near PA, have developed work-arounds to their major dearth of Carnegie Public Libraries, also thanks to the internet. That website has funny Alaska ads too :) and you can begin to visit Whale Pass, Alaska in Street View with a Google Search -it's on a island (getting to be northern BC) - but you can't go in its library virtually yet, since it doesn't seem to exist in Google Street View yet (since we haven't added it ... Or a new virtual Carnegie Library there either :)

The second time I hiked the Pacific Crest Trail in 1982, south from Canada through the state of Washington, I first did an off trail back country hike  on top of the Olympic range, on Washington state's Olympic peninsula with a friend, then took a ferry to Vancouver island, in Canada, then over to Vancouver, and then hitchhiked east100 miles to Manning Park still in Canada where I started hiking south into WA through the incredible north Cascades :) ... Carnegie Libraries in back country on smartphones for World Universitian student thru-hikers !

Meeting for coffee in Pittsburgh regarding ... virtual Carnegie Libraries and Museums - for traveling and movement too - since World Univ & Sch is planning ALL Libraries and ALL Museums, in all 7139 known living languages EVER, extinct languages too esp, - and so in a digital MASK, or GLASSES, you can walk down the aisles or stacks of books, or through miles of the Louvre, for the movement benefits of walking (whether on an elliptical machine, or outside your house on a walk in a lovely secluded wooded area :)

Thanks for your email. Liking Stuart's use of singing too for piping, and learning with feeling ... now how to elicit the inspiration to sing piping music freely, I wonder. I'm familiar with Patrick McLaurin's website with the impressive "An Encyclopedia of Tunes for the Great Highland Bagpipe," Compiled by Robert L. Pekaar, 5th Editiona far-reaching compendium of piping tunes (https://www.patrickmclaurin.com/tunedatabase/) ... and am curious how these in a database could be algorithmically developed for 'excellent tunes' - for me read most lyrical, or most melodic, - and Stuart in the Valley of the Deer revue touches on 'excellent tunes' too - https://youtu.be/xVAVE5i_10Q - and much else as well.

So much of what Stuart teaches makes so much sense, and his playing Ceol Beag or Light Music is wonderfully inspiring in these regards for me; am seeking nevertheless somehow to learn interactively too - and with piping - in a way informed say by the vision of Gordon Duncan riffing with AC / DC and Stuart 'riffing' or playing Gordon Duncan's "Thunderstruck' tune so extraordinarily - and for me, envisioning-wise, by playing with the Allman Bros in '73 at Cow Palace improvisationally (for learning too) ... and even newly with riffing with PIobaireachd melodies and note durations ... and even with machine learning playing music with the same 'energy' with this concert and this concert's synergies (for me and many). But feeling-wise with Piobaireachd, I come back to John D. Burgess's one or two Piobaireachds online I know of, in particular, regarding beauty, and learning directly from the music, without intermediaries, like sheet music (so memorizing esp), ... and his 'heavy' non-mensurality in these regards ... and after learning from PM Donald MacLeod's lyrical Piobaireachd tutorials, how to learn directly from John D. Burgess's playing, and yet interactively even, enjoyably and socially somehow ... and take Piobaireachd to new new heights (apart from playing Piobaireachd with machine learning Allman Bros' in '73) ? I'll explore this further with Stuart in subsequent conversations, I'd think :)
Open Band got a bit together the other evening at Patti's, and while friend Barbara Salisbury was at home and videoconferencing with us all via a MacBook on Patti's chair in her backyard, and she could play her fiddle with all of us for herself (but not together with us due to lag or latency), we still aren't playing in real real time remotely - which could be great for you, if interested, in the autumn, and if you'd be awake from 11pm - 1pm, or possibly 10pm -midnight, cine the Blue and Pink books and the other sheet music can be great for learning Scottish Small Piping further. 
Am going to be arriving in Pittsburgh, as I drive east across the country, on Thursday, June 24th, and may well be doing something with my mother at 7pm in east coast time that evening - so a lesson wouldn't work then for me. I'm not sure how my internet signal will be during July in southeast Massachusetts, so perhaps we can be in touch about a lesson in the 2nd half of July online, after you return from your vacation.
