Out on the deck for a salad dinner, the wind is from the NE - & MORE STORM IS BREWING - and at a healthy clip, 18 knots or so (more than a familiar 12 knots on August afternoons out of the SW, good for Laser sailboat sailing (hav you sailed a Laser recently, Sandy? :)
Some Canadian geese are staying out of the wind in Moon River, for attractive ng between Joe Slate's island and Cuttyhunk in front of the Schencks' house ...
How were your days, Ma and Sandy, and how's the weather in your worlds :)
Nice to see and talk with many old friends at Jim Lovell's memorial, John Tabor, Charles Field, Jim Conway in passing, Serena Hall, Peggy, Matt, and Becky Lovell, Tubby Fields, and Robin Younger, - and be in the lovely quiet solace of Piney's House (when & if my kids come along, will likely no longer be so quiet:) ... Since John and I have both visited Harbin some, Harbin Hot Springs, my Actual-Virtual ethnographic & STEM field site, became a first church, first in 1975 (HCC, and not affiliated with any others) after you would have been there, John, (and a 2nd church which ordains ministers in 1996, NACOB), but it may have been a bit of a hippy tax dodge as a church in CA, in my interpretation, too. Any recollections of HCC from your role at the Record-Bee in Lakeport? Soaking in the warm pool, however, there (some call it a sanctuary) is wondrous - and has parallels too with un-programmed Quaker Friends' Meeting regarding (what I'll call as a de facto relaxation response) meditation, deeply communal, connecting, cleansing, and releasing ... and informs aspects of my ethnographic interpretation of Harbin's alternative cultures or discourses. Hoping to facilitate this virtually in a realistic virtual Harbin even.

Hi John,

Thanks for the info. Harbin is fascinating socio-culturally as an alternative countercultural place in my interpretation - "hippy to the hot springs" is part of my book's ethnographic thesis - in that founder Ishvara / Bob Hartley gets the property in 1972, and significantly informs its culture possibly by outlasting everyone else there, and he's still around I think.

In what ways could we all create the "Harbin experience" virtually (with Google Street View with time slider & AI) - and for even STEM brain research of enjoyment, bliss and meditation, as brainwave headsets' chip technologies develop? And in so many ways ... Via ethno-wiki-virtual-world-graphy a new social theory and method - http://scott-macleod.blogspot.com/sea... ?

Saw David off on the boat at 3, in a downpour just now ... Matt Lovell and Liz School his wife and Robin Wilder were all there, and almost no one else, except for the people who jumped off the gas dock in the high waves and wind ... I think David helped to create a have a good July on Cuttyhunk for me - "Enjoy the month here" - :) somehow ... Good to have heard back from John Tabor too, that he was the publisher of a small newspaper near Harbin from 1981-1986 and went to Harbin some :)

Appreciating these aspects of Harbin

Turns out the weather didn't rain or thunder - just a loud plane buzzed over this part of the island (after I sent the previous abolition email) ...

Kind of not too humid to dry clothes, and indeed there's a load getting cleaned in the wash machine now ... May top off the line drying with some dryer action in the early evening ...

David stopped by for about 30 minutes ... very nice to see him, and chat. Jim Lovell's memorial service is tomorrow at 12 noon in the Church, and with a remembrance celebration in the Cuttyhunk Fishing Club afterward. Glad David told me about this. As we talked, I mentioned living in a 'safe house,' that I might like to do further actual field work at Harbin Hot Springs, before possibly moving back east in 2022 (and in seeking a life partner in doing so), and then doing virtual Harbin field work, and even publishing my second Harbin ethnography from Google Street View, text in the sidebar. In talking about Harbin, Daivd reminded me that Ishvara / aka Bob Hartley had roots in Padanaram, and I mentioned DC too - and that I think he had been over to Cuttyhunk perhaps in the 1950s and knew Jim and Flora Lovell, and possibly others on Cuttyhunk too. Small world ... Heading to Jim Lovell's memorial tomorrow could even lead to further travel after this summer - and up to Harbin this winter for field work, before moving east possibly ... and I could then fly out west occasionally, and with students over the following years of field work, and further Harbin Hot Springs' projects -

Will see if she gets back to me. I heard her in a video presentation in January, and was impressed, and appreciate the potential here for a new colleague. She's a Director at the Broad Institute of Genetics and which is part of Harvard and MIT ... and which could be relevant too for building out a realistic virtual earth for genetics. Good to be in communication too with George Church I think (who seems to be extraordinary in a variety of ways regarding what he knows and how he applies it:).
Am exploring the idea of installing a Google Nest Yale Lock (combination and internet-connected) on the back door, brainstorming-wise, where we 3 would each have the password - https://store.google.com/us/config/nest_x_yale_lock - but it could involve other parts, and am not sure whether it would be worth it at this stage. But if there's illegal entering, and activity in the off season, and in the house, I think it might lower our risks (and even regarding federal authorities possibly :) ... will explore further with time a bit. What do you think?

Hoping psychiatry at WUaS can come to play a real role in protecting people from becoming victims in such regards too even, and post the non-SARS Cov2 non-epidemic of the past many months ... which may have been helpful for getting data useful for reversing global warming even ... and to 1970's temperatures on Cuttyhunk even! :)

I just filled out this survey, and also have some questions about a Drosophila genetics' project I'm interested in. I'm interested in this particular project with regards to developing CC-4 MIT OCW-centric wiki World University and School and also regarding an Actual-Virtual realistic virtual earth for genetics (see below) - and for longevity, and aging reversal, questions especially. Could we double their lifespans via a spray or food into this jar (of a genetic drug researchers might develop) even?

In what ways could we map an individual fly's genome at a certain point in time - to A G C Ts ? And with machine learning, in what ways could we map this genome out in new AGCTs as an extended lifespan, say to 180 days (if 40-50 days or 90 days is the outer limit of a Drosophila fly's life span) - so virtually and digitally? (These Actual-Virtual developments as conversation, I'm particularly interested in).

And if gene function declines as an organism ages - per Harvard MIT Professor of Genetics' George Church - https://youtu.be/bnCEIPQFNnk - what does this look like in A G C & Ts at different time points?

Greetings from north central Pennsylvania en route from the SF Bay Area to Cuttyhunk Island Massachusetts, via Pennsylvania, aka Penn's Woods ... a religious experiment long ago, by Friends :)
And here now I find myself coming into State College, Pennsylvania, wondering where we might have gone Scottish Country Dancing here in the 1970s. And who was that tall woman at the Sheetz gas station I saw twice, once inside then outside - someone named Sarah Jean (Thompson)??? - also from the late 1970s, now today in a recreational bikers' gang, with black T-shirt (with a group of bikers, men and women), and who smiled broadly as I drove out, but who was wearing long white dresses with a blue green plaid at some Scottish dances, in the very late '70s, if I recall correctly. And there was a man next to her, a biker too, a boyfriend husband ??, - also a Scottish Country Dancer ??? (from long ago, handle bar mustache and shaven head)?
Now, coming into Pennsylvania State University's main campus, in State College, via side roads, I then found myself on Scotia Road, near Meeks' Road (where Donald Meeks is a brilliant Cambridge trained professor at the Univ of Edinburgh, in the School of Scottish and Celtic Studies, from the Isle of Tiree, and a native Scots' Gaelic speaker ... ) ... when I studied there in 2003-2004 ...
Now does one Katie (nee) Gould live in these parts still? Scottish Country Dancer of State College at the time ... (And thanks for reminding me, Sue, when we met at Lincoln's diner, that we met at the Ligonier Highland Games in the mid 1970s, - & that I said to you, with my curly hair, before a GHB practice chanter competition, that we needed to know 2 tunes, rather than one, since you were learning to play the Great Highland Bagpipes' chanter around this time as well :)

Methinks of the 6 Celtic languages, I haven't heard of any Cornish or Manx language ancestors of mine, but do think I may have ancestors who spoke the first 4/6 languages potentially, or at least 3 out of 6 languages, -and English ancestors too!
