PUTIN IS IN DANGEROUS POSITION

Ukraine has to sustain the ability of its forces to continue fighting effectively and counterattacking to regain lost territory if it is to hold out against the Russians, military expert JUSTIN BRONK writes on MailOnline today.

President Volodymyr Zelensky’s troops are mobilising new Ukrainian forces in the west with modern weapons provided by Western countries and these could be sent to reinforce Odessa or Kyiv rapidly if needed.

Mr Bronk, a leading military expert in airpower and technology, added that Ukraine must sustain morale of its troops and citizens and ensure Western military and other assistance continues to flow into the country.

He added that Russian forces are in a ‘dangerous position’ which is likely to deteriorate in the coming weeks without a major pause in fighting – meaning that it is vital that the Ukrainians continue to battle hard.

In contrast, Mr Bronk said the Russians are likely to attempt three options – one of them being driving northwards from Melitopol towards Dnipro to meet with a thrust southward from Kharkiv at the same time.

The second is that the Russians will continue bombardments of Mariupol, Kharkiv and other smaller cities – while the third is that they will carry on attempting to encircle and bypass Mkyolaiv in the south.

He also said parts of Ukraine are ‘now beyond Russia’s capacity to influence or “regain” forever’, adding: ‘Putin now needs his forces to achieve something he can sell to his own people as a victory worth these huge costs.’

Here is the full analysis by Mr Bronk, a research fellow at the Royal United Services Institute in London:

Could War be Over in Two Weeks?

War in Ukraine Over in Two Weeks? After peace talks continued on Tuesday between Ukrainian and Russian government officials, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the positions of both countries during the discussions are starting to sound more realistic.
In a video address released on Wednesday, Zelenskyy said that the meetings will continue and that he is informed that the positions established during negotiations so far “already sound more realistic.”
“But time is still needed for the decisions to be in the interests of Ukraine,” he added.
A senior official from the Ukrainian government also said on Tuesday that while the discussions were difficult, there is “certainly room for compromise.”
NATO Membership Off the Cards?
During a meeting with leaders of the Joint Expeditionary Force on Tuesday, President Zelenskyy indicated that Ukraine was willing to agree to demands from Russia that his country does not join NATO.
Zelensky took part in a meeting of representatives of the Joint Expeditionary Force, an Anglo-French military force, and offered his vision of how to stop Russian aggression in his country. Speaking to British Prime Mini …

Congress Saves Navy From Biden Budget Blunder

The Great Green Fleet (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 3rd Class Nathan Burke/Released)

Most Americans agree we need a strong Navy to defend the nation and deter our overseas adversaries. Someone should remind the Biden administration.
Last year, top Navy leaders said all the right things in testimony about their budget requirements. They said we need to push harder toward the congressionally mandated goal of a 355-ship fleet, as the Navy has been stuck at fewer than 300 ships for about 15 years.
Navy leaders smartly recognized that rising threats in the Mediterranean and the Pacific must be matched with a naval force that gives us leverage without committing us to another drawn-out land war.
But when the Biden administration presented its budget plan to Congress, lawmakers were confused. The White House’s budget called for building just eight ships and decommissioning 15. That plan would have lowered the total manned fleet from 296 vessels to 289, a …

Biden sued over migrant housing contracts

A nonprofit watchdog group has sued the Biden administration for its failure to turn over documents that explain how massive government contracts to detain migrants at the border were awarded to a former Biden transition team member.
The Washington-based American Accountability Foundation on Wednesday filed two lawsuits against the departments of Health and Human Services and Homeland Security for not releasing documents about contracts each department gave to the nonprofit organization Endeavors last spring. The AAF submitted two Freedom of Information Act requests 11 months ago for all communications in an effort to determine if there was a “quid pro quo” between government officials and a former Biden official, Andrew Lorenzen-Strait, following the Washington Examiner’s investigation in March 2021.

“Aside from the efforts at DHS and HHS to cover up the crisis at our southern border with this housing contract, they also displayed the worst type of government cronyism,” AAF founder Tom Jones, a former Trump White House official, said in a statement. “Instead of ignoring our FOIA requests, DHS and …

Gas Prices Force Lifestyle Changes for Most

GAINESVILLE, Fla.—As if the price of gas wasn’t enough, a line of impatient motorists waiting behind him with sullen faces and engines rumbling made Zephrin Green’s visit to a Sam’s Club gas pump even more stressful.
As he prepared to fill the tank of his blue Subaru BRZ for an evening of Uber-driving, he tried to activate the pump as quickly as possible. Glancing at the price, he made quick calculations in his head.
“It takes 9.9 gallons to fill the tank,” he said. “I already know it’s going to take $50.”
Green used to make $140 to $180 per day ferrying Uber customers to their destinations around the college town of Gainesville in the middle of North Florida.
Since gas prices surged, his profits have dwindled to between $100 and $130—not enough to cov …

Paranoid Fauci Resurfaces — Issues Warning About What’s Coming For Him

Dr. Anthony Fauci has suggested that if Republicans take control of Congress, they will target him, but uncover nothing.

“It’s Benghazi hearings all over again,” Fauci said, according to the Washington Post. “They’ll try to beat me up in public, and there’ll be nothing there,” he said. “But it will distract me from doing my job, the way it’s doing right now.”

Fauci, who has served as NIAID director for more than three decades, has been a prominent public health figure throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. He is also currently serving as the chief medical advisor to President Joe Biden.

Republican Sen. Rand Paul, who has been a vociferous critic of Fauci, proposed an amendment to nix the NIAID director position, but that proposal did not clear the Senate health panel on Tuesday…CONTINUE READING»>

Russia loses a FOURTH general

Russia has lost another of its generals in the war in Ukraine, Kyiv has said, along with seven members of an elite force under Vladimir Putin’s direct command as Ukraine inflicts punishing losses on Moscow’s war machine.

Major-General Oleg Mityaev, 47, commander of the army’s 150th motorised rifle division, died fighting around the besieged city of Mariupol, Ukraine’s interior ministry said late Tuesday as officials released a photo of what they claimed was his corpse on the battlefield.

It marks the fourth Russian general that Ukraine claims to have taken out and the 13th officer overall, as Putin’s invading forces suffer heavy losses at the hands of dogged Ukrainian defenders.

Seven elite SWAT fighters from the feared Dzerzhinsky Division of Russia’s national guard were also revealed to have died in the fighting.

A mourning picture was released in Russia showing the photographs of six elite ‘maroon beret’ special forces fighters from the Vityaz Special Purpose Centre of the Dzerzhinsky Division, named after Soviet secret police founder Felix Dzerzhinsky. It was later revealed that a seventh had been slain.

Meanwhile respected test pilot Captain Alexander Garnaev quit a number of positions over the ‘completely incomprehensible’ war. ‘Sooner or later society will know the final number of losses [and] be horrified,’ he added.

A Hero of Russia and Honoured Test Pilot, he launched a scathing attack on the way Ukrainian cities have been ‘bombed and crushed with tanks’.

Fox News correspondent Benjamin Hall safely out of Ukraine after suffering serious injuries

Fox News correspondent Benjamin Hall, who was injured this week while covering the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine when the vehicle he was traveling in came under attack, is alert and in good spirits, the network announced on Wednesday. Hall was wounded in the same attack outside Kyiv that took the lives of Fox News cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski and journalist Oleksandra “Sasha” Kuvshynova. FOX News Media CEO Suzanne Scott updated staffers about Hall’s condition in an internal memo and Bill Hemmer informed viewers shortly afterwards on Wednesday morning. “This is some news we’ve been waiting on, an update on our colleague Ben Hall, he is now safe and out of Ukraine,” Hemmer said. “Ben is alert and said to be in good spirits. He’s being treated with the best possible care in the world,” Hemmer said. “We remind you, pl …
