Biden aims to cut cancer deaths by 50% over next 25 years with moonshot initiative

WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden on Wednesday reignited his “Cancer Moonshot” effort, an initiative launched while he was vice president that aims to accelerate U.S. progress in the fight against the disease and “end cancer as we know it.” Under a renewed effort led by the White House, Biden has committed to a goal of reducing cancer deaths by 50% over the next 25 years and improving the experience for those living with and surviving the disease. Biden lost his eldest son, Beau, to brain cancer in 2015 and the issue has become deeply personal for the commander-in-chief. “Let there be no doubt, now that I’m president, this is a presidential White House priority. Period,” Biden said in remarks from the White House. [embedded content] The American Cancer Society estimates that there will be 1,918,030 new cancer cases and 609,360 cancer deaths this year. What Biden is aiming to do is essentially save more than 300,000 lives annually from th …

Pfizer Vax for Children Under Five

Pfizer asked the FDA on Tuesday to approve their COVID-19 vaccine for children under the age of five.

As reported by the New York Times, federal regulators urged the company to submit the request, even though two doses failed to produce the anticipated immune response among children two to four years old in a clinical trial.
The trial results, announced in December, prompted the companies to test a third low dose of the vaccine in that age group, which includes more than 19 million children.

Rather than wait until the end of March for the results of the trial, federal regulators encouraged Pfizer to apply for the authorization in hopes of getting a head start.
An emergency FDA advisory group meeting is scheduled for February 15th, when they will discuss the request and make a recommendation.
Pfizer’s chairman and chief executive Albert Bourla said in a statement that they “believe that three doses of the vaccine will be needed for children 6 months through …

Durham Investigation of Obamagate Expands

Special Counsel John Durham is not yet finished with his investigation into the Obamagate scandal, and a new report says his efforts have expanded.According to recent court filings, Durham has gained access to a significant amount of FBI internal affairs files in his effort to uncover the Obama administration’s maneuvers to promote bogus allegations against Donald Trump during the 2016 presidential election. Team Obama’s disingenuous investigation of the anti-Trump allegations, called Crossfire Hurricane, relied on the discredited Christopher Steele dossier, which was paid for by party activists.

The Washington Times reports that “Three times in his 19-page submission Mr. Durham tells the judge that his team is conducting an ‘active, ongoing criminal investigation’ not limited to the defendant, former Hillary Clinton campaign legal adviser Michael A. Sussmann.”
Related: Hmm … Is Durham Planning to Charge Team Hillary?
Durham was appointed as special counsel in December 2020 in order to protect the investigation, which began while he was a U.S. …

TX Arrests Illegal Aliens for Trespassing

KINNEY COUNTY, Texas—A group of 50 Democrats in the Texas House of Representatives is urging the departments of Justice and Homeland Security to investigate Operation Lone Star, a border security initiative launched by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott in March 2021.
“Operation Lone Star uses state criminal law to target Black and Latino migrants for punishment,” the Democrats’ Jan. 26 letter to the federal agencies alleges.
The politicians want the federal government to use “all tools at your disposal to ensure the end of this policy.”
In June 2021, as part of Operation Lone Star (OLS), Abbott authorized Texas Department of Public Safety troops to arrest and charge illegal immigrants with trespassing if they were found to be on state or private land without consent.
The OLS budget funded jail space for alleged illegal immigrant trespassers, defense counsel, and prosecution resources. The governor also sent more law enforcement officers to beleaguered border regions to assist in the arrest of t …

National debt hits all-time high

Author of ‘Woke, Inc.’ Vivek Ramaswamy on Jack Dorsey stepping down and what this means for the future of Twitter. The U.S. national debt has surpassed $30 trillion according to the latest data released by the Treasury Department, marking a new milestone as government spending and borrowing continues to surge. Scott Applewhite / AP Newsroom)The new record is for the government’s total debt outstanding, which includes $23.487 trillion in debt held by the public and another $6.525 trillion in intra-government debt such as federal trust funds and other accounts.Spending by Congress was already increasing at a steady clip for years before the coronavirus sparked a borrowing surge of $5 trillion in pandemic relief that exacerbated the rate. “$30 trillion in debt is an obscene number, but what’s even more depressing is the fact that most politicians in both parties don’t really care,” Sen. Ben Sasse, R‑Neb., said in a statement on the milestone. “Someone is going to have to pay that money when these politicians are long gone, and — spoiler alert — it won’t be paid by them but instead by our kids.”“Ignoring the debt won’t solve the crisis, it will only make things worse,” Sasse added. “We need to cut the budget-busting spending sprees and do real entitlement reform.” This story is developing and will be updated. …
