Exclusive: Winnipeg car ramming suspect identified as Antifa member

The suspect arrested over the car-ramming attack against the “Freedom Covoy” protesters in Winnipeg, Canada is an Antifa member with a long history of far-left militantism in Manitoba. David Alexander Zegarac, 42, of Headingley, Man., allegedly sped off to try and escape after the attack on Feb. 4, 2022, which injured four people. He ran multiple lights and resisted arrest when he was finally caught around 40 minutes later.
Zegarac was the frontman of the antifa punk band Brat Attack until the record label dropped the group because of multiple accusations of sexual assault against Zegarac in 2015. One of the accusers said she was only 13 when he groomed her and raped her.
Zegarac’s music is extremely political, features violent themes and was popular with the local an …

Biden Admin Crack Pipe Funding

Biden Administration

$30 million program will provide ‘smoking kits’ to vulnerable communities

The Biden administration is set to fund the distribution of crack pipes to drug addicts as part of its plan to advance “racial equity.”
The $30 million grant program, which closed applications Monday and will begin in May, will provide funds to nonprofits and local governments to help make drug use safer for addicts. Included in the grant, which is overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services, are funds for “smoking kits/supplies.” A spokesman for the agency told the Washington Free Beacon that these kits will provide pipes for users to smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and “any illicit substance.”
HHS said the kits aim to reduce the risk of infection when smoking substances with glass pipes, which can lead to infections through cuts and sores. Applicants for the grants are prioritized if they treat a majority of “underserved communities,” including African Americans and “LGBTQ+ persons,” as established under President Joe Biden’s executive order on “advancing racial equity.”
Democratic-run cities such as San Francisco and Seattle have distributed smoking kits to residents. Some local governments, however, have in recent years backed away from their smoking kit programs over concerns they enable drug abuse. Louisville, Ky., for example, allowed convenience stores to sell smoking kits but later banned them. Legislators in Maryland ditched their distribution plan after facing backlash from local law enforcement and African-American leaders.
Sgt. Clyde Boatwright, president of the Maryland Fraterna …

Rubio: J6 Comm Total ‘Scam’

Senator Marco Rubio (R‑FL) Sunday on CBS’s “Face The Nation” called the House committee investigating the January 6, 2021 riots a “complete partisan scam.”
Partial transcript as follows:
MARGARET BRENNAN: Right. So yes, so this appears a turning point for the party, though. Does the RNC speak for you when it says that this is a Democrat-led persecution of ordinary citizens engaged in legitimate political discourse. Was January 6th legitimate political discourse?
RUBIO: Well, anybody who committed crimes on January 6th should be prosecuted. If you entered the Capitol and you committed acts of violence and you were there to hurt people, you should be prosecuted and they are being prosecuted. But the January 6th commission is not the place to do this. That’s what prosecutors are supposed to do. This commission is a partisan scam. They’re going after- they’re- the purpose of that co …

Pentagon Previews New Tech Strategy

The Defense Department released a broad plan to expand and ensure its technological edge on the shifting global conflict stage—equipped with a list of more than a dozen technologies it is prioritizing in the near term—via a six-page memorandum published on Thursday.Penned by Defense Undersecretary for Research and Engineering and DOD Chief Technology Officer Heidi Shyu, the USD(R&E) Technology Vision for an Era of Competition previews the impending National Defense Science and Technology Strategy and its development. Shyu’s office will also steer the making of that future-facing blueprint.President Joe Biden’s administration is placing a sharp focus on strategic competition, particularly with Russia and China, as it crafts the latest National Defense Strategy that’s expected to be released early this year. A DOD spokesperson told Nextgov on Thursday that the S&T strategy’s release will depend on that of the National Defense Strategy, as the latter is considered the “guiding document.”In the new memo, Shyu wrote that the United States’ “strategic competitors” have greater access to ultramodern commercial technologies “than ever before,” which can be used to disrupt America.“The challenges facing our country are both diverse and complex, ranging from …

Biden’s Russia policy is crap

Was the current crisis in Ukraine caused by a lack of realism in US foreign policy? According to some analysts, the liberal desire to spread democracy is what drove NATO’s expansion up to Russia’s borders, causing Russian President Vladimir Putin to feel increasingly threatened. Viewed from this perspective, it’s not surprising that he would respond by demanding a sphere of influence analogous to what the United States once claimed in Latin America with its Monroe Doctrine.
But there’s a problem with this realist argument: NATO’s 2008 decision (heavily promoted by the George W. Bush administration) to invite Georgia and Ukraine eventually to join the alliance can hardly be called liberal, nor was it driven by liberals. In making such arguments, realists point to the aftermath of World War I, when President Woodrow Wilson’s liberalism contributed to a legalistic and idealist foreign policy that ultimately failed to prevent World War II.
Accordingly, in the 1940s, scholars such as Hans Morgenthau and diplomats like George Kennan warned Americans that they must henceforth base their foreign policy on realism. As Morgenthau explained in 1948, ‘[A] state has no right to let its moral disapprobation of the infringement of liberty get in the way of successful political action.’ Or, in the more recent words of the University of Chicago political scientist John Mearsheimer: ‘States operate in a self-help world in which the best way to s …

Abrams Campaign on Maskless Photo

Stacey Abrams’ campaign responded on Sunday to the massive uproar over Abrams’ viral maskless photo, accusing critics of the photo of “using a Black History Month reading event” to attack Abrams and claiming Abrams “trusts science.”
Lauren Groh-Wargo, campaign manager for Abrams’ gubernatorial race, first responded to the backlash Sunday afternoon by taking swipes at the Georgia Democrat’s top two potential race opponents, incumbent Gov. Brian Kemp ® and former Sen. David Perdue (R‑GA), after both chastised Abrams for displaying “hypocrisy” in the photo.
Groh-Wargo wrote on social media, “Our opponents took a brief break from licking Trump’s boots this weekend to issue baseless attacks,” and then claimed, “Our opponents are using a Black History Month reading event for Georgia children as the impetus for a false political attack.”
Groh-Wargo proceeded to berate both Perdue and Kemp without using their names:

Our opponents took a brief break from licking Trump’s bo …

Navy 3D printing for submarine parts

ARLINGTON, Va. — Among the top risks to the critical Columbia-class ballistic missile submarine program is fragility in key parts of the industrial base.Additive manufacturing, better known as 3D printing, could fix that. The Navy plans to pair suppliers who cannot keep up with demand with additive manufacturing companies who can print parts around the clock to boost the supply, a Navy program official said this week. This effort would be aimed at the most fragile parts of the submarine industrial base: companies that do castings, forgings and fittings, in particular.Matt Sermon, executive director of the Program Executive Office for Strategic Submarines, said this would help these companies — some of them the sole sources of components to the Navy — by removing pressure to increase their production rates even as they’re struggling to keep up with the current workload. The industrial base today builds two Virginia-class attack submarines a year, is working through construction of a single Columbia-class SSBN and helps maintain the in-service submarines in the fleet. …

Coast Guard & Cyber-Attack Prevention

In August 2021, the Coast Guard released an updated version of its Cyber Strategic Outlook.1 This document, along with Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS’s) newly released National Maritime Cybersecurity Plan, marks a shift from previous guidance.2 Most notably, the new Cyber Strategic Outlook places the onus squarely on the shoulders of shoreside commanders in the Coast Guard to “prevent and respond” to cyber incidents within the Marine Transportation System (MTS).The Coast Guard’s new cyber strategy details lines of effort the service will take as the DHS “Sector Specific Agency” assigned with carrying out cyber-protection functions for the MTS. One major change from previous guidance states that the Coast Guard “will apply our existing framework for prevention and response activities to mitigate cyber risks.”3 This function fits nicely into the Captain of the Port (COTP) authority the service already holds, wh …

Air Force backs Valkyrie’s eVTOL

Reno-based Valkyrie Systems Aerospace has received a research grant from the US Air Force to further develop its remarkable HoverJet Guardian concept, which combines electric VTOL and high-speed jet cruise with amphibious and hovercraft capabilities. The USAF’s AFWERX High-Speed Vertical Takeoff and Landing (HSVTOL) concept challenge sees the military throwing the floor open to a range of private companies in search of ideas that’ll eventually lead to next-gen VTOL aircraft capable of going a lot quicker than current VTOL machines like the V‑22 Osprey. Valkyrie’s HoverJet Guardian concept certainly seems to fit the bill. Essentially, it appears to be a powerful, optionally-piloted jet aircraft with an electric VTOL system built in.The VTOL system appears to use a quadcopter layout, with four props (or perhaps eight mounted coaxially) hiding in holes in its fat wings. These get it off the ground in relatively civilized fashion, but then a pair of Pratt & Whitney 545c turbofan engines take over, adding a c …
