NH GOP divided on gerrymandering

For months, New Hampshire has been ensnared in one of the nation’s most intense intraparty redistricting melees over a congressional redistricting map.
New Hampshire’s ruling Republican Party has been wrangling, at times publicly, over whether it should forge one safe seat for itself while ceding the other to the Democrats or preserve the competitiveness of the state’s two seats at the risk of losing them both.

Effectively dividing the pair of House seats along party lines would be a huge departure from the state’s redistricting traditions, in which the contours of both have largely remained the same since the 1880s.
With only two House seats at stake, New Hampshire’s Republican-on-Republican redistricting fight would seem relatively insignificant compared to titanic political line-drawing struggles in large population states such as Florida, New York, North Carolina, and Ohio. But every seat counts in the fight for House control. House Republicans only need to net five seats in the 435-member chamber to reclaim the majority they lost in 2018.
TRUMP ADVISER CONFIRMS EX-PRESIDENT WANTS NEW HAMPSHIRE GOV. CHRIS SUNUNU OUT
“Look, I don’t like the maps. That’s been made clear time and again,” Republican Gov. Chris Sununu told WMUR TV. “I think what you have to appreciate is that New Hampshire is a …

Oil Pipeline: Manchin Rips Biden Appointee

Sen. Joe Manchin (D‑WV) slammed Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Chairman Richard Glick, a Biden appointee, during remarks late last week over stalled pipeline permits which come as Americans are experiencing surging energy costs.Manchin, who is the Chairman of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee, “called the full FERC commission, including Chairman Richard Glick, before the committee to question the regulators over their policy decisions while pressing them to allow certain stalled projects to move forward,” Fox News reported. “Glick, speaking at the CERAWeek by S&P Global energy conference Thursday, defended his agency’s decision to withhold permits. He said some of the pipeline delays Manchin lamented at the Senate hearing were due to FERC’s efforts to ensure projects were done ‘right the first time.’”Manchin slammed Glick when asked about Glick’s remarks by a Fox News reporter, saying, “Well, speak up and help us Mr. Chairman Glick.”“ …

Graham: No-Fly Zone if Chem Weapons

Sen. Lindsey Graham, while insisting he does not want to see U.S. boots on the ground in Ukraine, Sunday called for a no-fly zone to be instituted over the war-torn country if Russian President Vladimir Putin orders a chemical weapons strike, as that would be a war crime.

The South Carolina Republican also during an interview on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo,” accused President Joe Biden of having “folded” on the question of sending former Soviet MiG fighters from Poland into Ukraine and rejected the president’s contention that allowing the jets would mean the beginning of “World War III.”

“I am all in,” Graham said. “I don’t want, no boots on the ground, no-fly zone yet. If chemical weapons are used by Putin, then I support a no-fly zone.”

The senator, meanwhile, called it “deplorable to me, dishonorable” …

Union Will Force School Masks Beyond Mandate

The United Teachers Los Angeles (UTLA) union will compel children in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) to continue wearing masks to school Monday even as the county’s mask mandate expires and other districts will drop masks.
As Breitbart News reported earlier this month, L.A. County public health officials announced that the school mask mandate would end after March 11, shortly after the State of California announced that it was lifting school mask mandates statewide.
Several school districts in the county announced that they would end the mask mandates. But UTLA wanted to continue the mandates in LAUSD schools, pointing to a collective bargaining process that, it said, had to be followed before any changes.
LAUSD said in a statement on Friday that it needed to follow the “science” carefully before it allowed the mandate to end in its schools, though what is actually going on is that it is negotiating with …

Atlantic: Nuclear war bad for climate ?

If nuclear war breaks out and tens of millions die, the Atlantic has figured out who the real victim would be: the climate.
The far-left magazine owned by Apple founder Steve Jobs’s billionaire widow Laurene Powell Jobs is drawing relentless online mockery for a 1,200-word essay by Robinson Meyer warning that if the Russian invasion of Ukraine were to spiral into a nuclear war, it “would be worse for the climate than any energy policy that Donald Trump ever proposed.”

COMPLETE COVERAGE OF THE WAR IN UKRAINE FROM THE WASHINGTON EXAMINER
“If you are worried about rapid, catastrophic changes to the planet’s climate, then you must be worried about nuclear war,” writes Meyer. “That is because, on top of killing tens of millions of people, even a relatively “minor” exchange of nuclear weapons would wreck the planet’s climate in enormous and long-lasting ways.”

The worst part of all of this — the most terrifying as …

Dem Strategist: Kamala’s Europe Tragedy

Democratic strategist Doug Schoen said early Sunday that he “was embarrassed” by Vice President Kamala Harris’ performance at the joint press conferences in Poland and Romania.“I was embarrassed. This is not a Democrat and Republican issue, this is an issue of transcended foreign policy needs and concerns of the United States,” Schoen said. “She came up not only short but the laugh through the failure to unequivocally say ‘we will do anything we can for the Ukrainian people to provide as much support as possible’ sadly means that I have to agree with Monica. I wish I could disagree, but as a Democrat and an American first, I think this was tragic and very, very, very sad.” Former Assistant Secretary to the Treasury Monica Crowley said Harris’ behavior was “astonishing” and she seemingly was in a “state of a perpetual breakdown.” Crowle …

RUSSIANS KILL US JOURNALIST

An American freelance filmmaker has been shot dead while covering the war in Ukraine, Kyiv police announced on Sunday.

Brent Renaud, 51, was in a car with other journalists in Irpin, near Kyiv, when Russian troops opened fire. He was shot dead and one of his colleagues was injured.

Initially, he was thought to have been on assignment for The New York Times because he was carrying a press badge that listed the newspaper as his publication.

Renaud’s death was announced by Andrey Nebitov, the head of Kyiv’s police department, who said in a Facebook post that he paid ‘with his life for trying to highlight the aggressor’s ingenuity, cruelty and ruthlessness.’

He also shared a video, taken by a police officer at the scene, who said a third journalist was wounded.

Another US journalist who survived the attack spoke to a reporter for Italian paper Internazionale from the hospital.

Giving his name only as Juan, he said Renaud had been shot in the neck and ‘had to be left behind’.

‘We had crossed the first bridge in Irpin. We were going to film other refugees leaving we got into a car. Somebody offered to take us to the other bridge. We crossed a checkpoint and they started shooting at us. The driver turned around, there were two of us. My friend is Brent Renaud.

‘He has been shot and left behind. I saw he has been shot in the neck. We got split,’ he said.

Even ‘EV’ Elon Musk mocks Biden’s ‘green’ hucksters

You know things are getting bad for Team Biden when Elon Musk is mocking its ludicrous push for everything green.

That’s right. The dude who made his billions off the greening of America with his electric-car company known as Tesla is now gaslighting the Biden administration’s delusional agenda.

Musk is known to speak his mind, so I’m not totally shocked he’s now throwing shade on Team Biden’s latest green gimmick — that we should immediately dump our nasty gas guzzlers for the allegedly affordable electric vehicles offered by Tesla and, increasingly, the mainstream automobile industry.

But what’s surprising me is that even financial executives who have embraced the green revolution, people like Larry Fink, the CEO of money-management powerhouse BlackRock, are increasingly urging caution on the overnight transition to a green economy, including an immediate embrace of electric vehicles.

The consequences, they warn, will be rapid inflation even above the pace we’re seeing now. It’s a massive tax on the poor and working class who will have to pay more to travel to work and eat given the costs associated with energy consumption. As oil is climbing to $150 a barrel and gas prices head toward $8 a gallon in some places because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it’s the last thing we as country need right now.

It’s scary that those words of caution haven’t pierced the thick skulls of the policymakers in DC. Proof was last week’s bizarre press conference featuring Vice President Kamala Harris and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, who claimed that, soon, every car will be clean and electric and it will save the world from … Vladimir Putin.

Vice President Kamala Harris is foolish to “imagine” a zero-emission economy is just years away.AP Photo/Manuel Balce CenetaNeither Harris nor Buttigieg mentioned Putin by name, but he was clearly top-of-mind. Oil and gas prices are spiking because of US sanctions designed to cut off sales of Russian oil that finances its war machine, they suggested.

Not mentioned: Prices are also rising up because Harris, Buttigieg and their boss, …

The Heroes of the Ukrainian Refugee Crisis

It has been just over two weeks since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, but already, Europe is faced with an unprecedented refugee crisis.
As of March 11, the United Nations reported that more than 2.5 million people, nearly half of which are children, have fled Ukraine. Additionally, an estimated 1 million people have been displaced from their homes within the country.

As this conflict continues, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees projects approximately 4 million people will have fled for their lives. As James Elder, a spokesman for UNICEF said, “We’ve never faced a refugee crisis of this speed and scale.”
As this humanitarian catastrophe unfolds, personal accounts, images, and news stories have emerged showing the devastation of the Russian invasion alongside the determination of the Ukrainian people.
Many Ukrainians have stayed behind to defend their homes and way of life. Writing for The Washington Post, Ukrainian journalist, Nataliya Gumenyuk described seeing ordinary citizens standing guard at checkpoints, staring down Russian troops, and dragging away Russian tanks.
Tragically, many of those who have remained on the frontlines in Ukraine have been separated from their families, who have fled to Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, and Moldova.
Ukrainians who are fighting, a …

White House puts BBB on the backburner, progressives predict disaster

There’s a dawning realization among Democrats that the constant infighting between progressives and moderates isn’t doing them any favors with voters. In an effort to forge some kind of unity, Dems spent the end of the week at a retreat in Philadelphia trying to come up with an approach that both sides could agree on.Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney, chair of the DCCC, said the key was for Democrats to talk like real people and not “sound like a jerk.” That was a not-so-veiled request for progressives to stow their far left agenda between now and November. If there’s one thing Dems have learned it’s that defund the police is a losing message.
On the other hand, Rep. Pramila Jayapal, chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, thinks the party desperately needs to show voters they can get something done. She wants to bring back elements of the BBB even if they don’t call it that anym …
